Oh, well we must be enjoying it a little otherwise we would have left for good when we said that's what we were doing ;) Hopefully I won't have time for Jack soon.

>you might find it a little more breathetaking than a carpark with adjacent mall & conveniently placed Starbucks.

That's the problem. L2R doesn't want his breath taken. He LOVES that lack of motion, that endless repetition. It probably just comforts him. It's because he's old. Not in a purely chronological sense. I think there are many many young 63-year-olds. L2R just isn't one of them.

I expect Newport Beach is a great place for old people like you. Nothing happens, nothing changes, nothing threatens your happiness, right? And when the kids get frustrated with it and leave, you can think "Ah good, they're off to make their living like I made mine." And maybe they do, maybe they don't but either way it's a while before they come back.

That's what I think anyway.

>>By Flagg   (Wednesday, 22 Aug 2007 23:42)

Oh it's rather fun, I have to admit. ;)
Besides, there might be a small part of me that really does believe he's a dumb idiot with an unhealthy patriotism & sense of greed, and not just an attention seeking dumb idiot with an unhealthy patriotism & sense of greed.

If the likes of Esr, Tchock and Flagg address ne as an udiot, I am truly grateful. I could call you a moron because you can't see the beauty of Newport Beach and Balboa Island...which speaks for itself. I could point out that NONE of you are successful....even by your standards. I can point out that young Flagg hates himself as muchas he hates his country.. I can point out that Ear is a throwbackfrom the 80s, and that Lynn from 'everything goes' the Netherlands has way too much ebb and flow in her perceptual field....BUT I WON'T. I can't get away with that at 63.

By the way, one of you referred to me as looking really old, ugly...bad. What was meant by that?

>>By lv2read   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 00:16)

And I'm sure we'd all be crying ourselves to sleep over it.

You misinterpreted me: I couldn't see the beauty of Newport Beach for the mass of concrete & civilisation.

None of us successful?

Flagg, I'm sure he won't mind me saying, has succeeded in getting into the university of his choice.
Planet Ear is a musician/producer with a physics degree, I wouldn't exactly call him unsuccessful.
Not sure what Lynn does - but she has common sense - points to her for that.
Diane - teaching kids might not be "high paying" - but she got her degree and - provided the kids aren't as unruly as in my school - quite rewarding.
Me - I am doing what I enjoy - speaks volumes. No degree yet - but four more years & I'll be as successful as I want to be - not as you see me.

Now, what exactly makes you "successful"?

>>By Tchock   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 00:30)

*I'd like to add, not that going to uni means you are successful either - it's about achieving what you personally want.

** regarding teaching...... rewarding if the kids are interested & the bureaucracy isn't as bad as my dad has to deal with..........

>>By Tchock   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 00:58)

Again, why am I considered old, ugly, stupid, and on.

Where almost everyone wants to move to...

>>By lv2read   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 03:34)

I can help you with the third adjective, but it's a matter of opinion on the others.

We get the point that you think Newport Beach is a great place to live. But there ARE other places on the planet besides one small town in California. Yeah, it might be lovely - fair enough - but it's not everyone's cup of tea. You are so obssessed with the "freedom of choice" then why can't you accept that people are all different - all have individual tastes and stop ramming it down our throats about how Newport Beach is god's gift to humanity.

Note: if you want to save Newport Beach for years to come, then you might consider that it worthwhile if we all cut down on our car usage.... you wouldn't want the polar ice caps to melt until your precious town is drowned underneath the Pacific Ocean would you? Bangladesh - who cares - but Orange County, California ?!?!?!

>>By Tchock   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 04:03)

Tchock,
We are all different. There are some Americans that reside in Minnesota...beautiful, pristine. bit frozen solid approx 6 months of the year. I'd rather live in Nicaragwa (phonetic spelling D) than Minnesota. Take Berkeley (Beserkley) for example. Incredible school, scenery, lousy clinate, terrible rainy season, earthquake capital (epicenter) in Ca.....good public transit....BART Bay Area Rapid Transit....trouble is much of it underground. I could go on and on. Bit I cou;d ;ive in Berkeley if I had to. We Southern Californians are a different breed that those up North...SF is a formal city...LA is much more casual. You wouldn't dream of entering a supemarket (in SF) in a swim suit! Whereras it is hardily noticed down here.

Enough for now....it is 10:00 PM.

>>By lv2read   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 07:06)

At last we're speaking the same language (sort of). Some Americans live in Minnesota because they like the cold weather. (Others live there because they can't live anywhere else, but that's not the point). So you DO understand! XD Hallelujah. So would you stop going on about how great Newport Beach is now?

>>By Flagg   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 10:48)

Flagg "we must be enjoying it a little"
Tchock "Oh it's rather fun, I have to admit. ;)

LOL ok - you know, some good things are said, if you ignore the crap - so go for it! ;-)

>>By Lynn   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 11:50)

I live in Minnesota! It's only frozen 5 1/2 months Flagg! Global Warming! Al Gore , "the planet has a fever"

>>By My Point   (Thursday, 23 Aug 2007 14:09)

My Point,
I would imaging thaty Minnesotans would welcome some Global Warming.....say about November through May.

Be careful here, regardless how liberal you are, someone (or two) on this board will try to 'out liberal' you. If this comment doesn't make sense, try reading snippets of dialog on pages 52 to 55. There is nothing too liberal or too foolish here.

>>By lv2read   (Sunday, 26 Aug 2007 17:53)

My Point liberal? LOL

>>By Lynn   (Sunday, 26 Aug 2007 22:39)

Lynn,
One can read many things into his lone comment.

>>By lv2read   (Sunday, 26 Aug 2007 22:49)

Well My Point will know what to read into it

>>By Lynn   (Sunday, 26 Aug 2007 23:30)

Wow, a biography stemming from a singly sentence. Why don't you tell us all about My Point's lazy work ethic & deprived background from not living in California.

I have an idea. Don't write on here until you've read "The Undercover Economist" by Tim Harford. It's not Milton Friedman nor John Nash, but it's something I think you ought to read.

>>By Tchock   (Monday, 27 Aug 2007 02:22)

It's your bedtime Tchock....you are excused........now go.

>>By lv2read   (Monday, 27 Aug 2007 05:41)

And there was me trying to be civil by suggesting you read a book, but I guess you got your screen-name wrong afterall .....maybe you meant lv2misread ???

By the way, the condescending tone is getting old. How about you try something new.... actually replying?

>>By Tchock   (Monday, 27 Aug 2007 05:49)

I think L2R and MyP will get along just fine.
My Point's points you can read on his website, the address is on his profile.
That's not promoting it btw.

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 27 Aug 2007 10:00)

Ah, I see now.

>>By Tchock   (Monday, 27 Aug 2007 16:18)

Moderate your position, give up Lenin worship and you'll be amazed how reasonable other opinions appear (to you). But if you listen to others as radical as you, help will remain elusive.

>>By lv2read   (Monday, 27 Aug 2007 23:29)

The thing about you, lv2read, is that I actually don't know if you really are this ignorant & unwilling to surrender to basic fact or if you're just out for an attention seek because the kids have left home & you're the kind of person who wants to be the centre of attention.

If you're the former, then you really should read that book I recommended. It is not "lets nationalize everything", it is a fascinating read, and will perhaps give some substance to your so far illogical, ignorant & just plain ridiculous arguments. Come back when you've decided if you've found it in yourself to have a little maturity - even just a bit more would be one huge leap forward.

I am not asking for a miracle here, a little bit of realism wouldn't hurt though?

And as for Lenin - perhaps if you've got enough spare time you re-read pages 1-55. There are some articles that you probably never read, regarding my opinion of Lenin & communism. By the way - I can hear a word or two against Lenin, I am the voice of it more often than not... it is you however who cannot bring yourself to hear a single syllable against the great, the awe-inspiring George Bush who needed it written on a card to discover the word that came after the phrase "he had his name dragged through the....."

I understand, not worship. www.dictionary.com - a non communist organisation who has no quams about America whatsoever. Try there for some guidance, also look up spelt.

>>By Tchock   (Tuesday, 28 Aug 2007 00:31)

Tchock,
Curiously, did you ever apply to you no where? For the effort that I made....was hoping thatt you'd fill me in from time to time???

>>By lv2read   (Thursday, 30 Aug 2007 05:54)

Hello My Point.

A quote from your blog site

"Welcome to the home of My Point Radio. A blog of social commentary and musing from a conservative white man. Enjoy and don't take yourself to seriously. Have fun, enjoy life."

On a trivial note: It's "too seriously" not "to seriously" in good English.

On a less trivial note your welcome and self-description informs the world that your thoughts are those of a "conservative white man". I am unsure why you felt it valuable to qualify or aggrandise your "musings" in that way. Perhaps you could offer some insight into your thought processes or values by explaining to the board's participants and readers how your "musings" might differ from those of a conservative black woman?

>>By planet ear   (Thursday, 30 Aug 2007 16:41)

Ear,
If you don't know the answer to your own Q, there is no asswistance that any of us could give you!!!

>>By lv2read   (Thursday, 30 Aug 2007 19:41)

Do you know the answer l2r?

I've been away for a week. Just a sec... There's one thing I want to answer.

>Again, why am I considered old, ugly, stupid, and on.

Because you are those things. Maybe it's the price you pay for leading a comfortable life in Newport Beach. Think of all the things you could have been doing when you were putting in the extra hours to boost your profits.

>>By Flagg   (Friday, 31 Aug 2007 17:45)

Flagg,
The answer above may amuse others here, but it doesn't amuse me. Now, go to your play room, you are grounded this weekend. And put all your dirty clothes that you've stashed under your bede in the hamper where they belong!!!

Only kidding......but you are at an age where writing such things in your last post, aren't considered cute. Grow up, this is a big boy and big girl site.

>>By lv2read   (Friday, 31 Aug 2007 19:25)

I was completely and utterly serious.

>>By Flagg   (Friday, 31 Aug 2007 21:03)

Flagg,
Then stay in your playroom!! This site ain't for you....exactly as JustJon said. I wasn't a believer then, but I am now...and keep your belittling comments to yourself. And if youdollow Tchock's example, you won't be welcome at other sites as well. NEITHER of you know the difference between personal invective and argument. And if you listen to Ear (a throwback from the 70s-80s ??) you''ll be no different from him.

We need JustJon to put you away, i.e. off this board. I am old, ugly....and what else? please keep your juvenile pen to yourself. Am not proud of this closing....but good riddance.
