Lenin U. seems to be everywhere. The car companie4s do marketing surveys to find out what appeals to us....and if they satisgy that need, they are profitable. Bow if you have the understanding of a 17 year old Amrtican girl you'd understand this. Let me tell you why there aren't many vegetarian restaurants in the USA......well, sorry. the 17 year old American girl has already gotten the answer. Demand. Ther is less demand for that food type,
Why do I say Honda? Well the 17 yr old American girl has already gotten the answer. Quality. Americans go for quality...American made or not. Honda is superior in quality to anything Americans or Brits make. Lenin would never understand our choices. Is there hope for you?
>>By lv2read
Hmmmm I'm thinking you've maybe got a massive crush on Lenin...... that might explain why you take any opportunity to type his name.
I'm actually nineteen years old, and of above average intelligence - I got the best grades in my year at high school for exams and I got into one of the best universities in the world. I think I can understand a marketing survey.
Vegetarian restaurants. Believe it or not, when you look at a menu in a restaurant you get (your favourite word here) a CHOICE. These choices can either be meat..... but there are usually ALWAYS a few vegetarian selections. Don't go all ansy about vegetarianism - it's not part of the Al Quaida plot. It's not trying to undermine your precious freedom.
Quality. Right, I agree with that. But fast-food doesn't usually correlate with quality in my book... neither do a lot of your "market leaders". Another contradiction in your argument. (Running total of more than a hundred now....)
Hope for me? If "seeing the light" means turning into something vaguely resembling you, then I'm afraid I'm a lost cause. I'm more likely to eat meat than do that.
"George Washington had a vision for this country. Was it three days of uninterrupted shopping?"

>Let me tell you why there aren't many vegetarian restaurants in the USA......well, sorry. the 17 year old American girl has already gotten the answer. Demand. Ther is less demand for that food type,
So what you're saying is that in America, you can choose anything you want as long as it's the same thing everyone else is choosing. Yeah, that sounds about right.
Let's hope that 17-year-old girl is enjoying her youth while it lasts because if she's eating at McDonald's on a regular basis then she'll look like you by the time she's thirty. She'll be dead before she hits fifty. I guess it's worth it though, if the burgers are really that good.
>>By Flagg
Flagg Only a child like you and Tchock are immature enough to make statements like those above. You both make mwe realize how lucky I was to have had bright and well educated children. I especially note how Tchock referred to her choice of universities as top notch and selectrive. I'm sure. What both of you don't know hasn't affected you YET.
>>By lv2read
You typed three and a half lines of text and managed to say nothing at all. Would you explain to me exactly what is immature about my statements?
>>By Flagg
Where as you make me feel lucky I never had parents that resembled anything like you. Only a sad old delusional man who comes on here to get his fix of attention would continue to ignore any reasonable argument, any facts or logical thought...... no one could be that thick. But I suppose some people can forgive others for being wrong, more than they can for being right.
My choice of university - it wasn't it's "selectiveness" I chose - it was the fact that it had a brilliant teaching department with excellent research & learning resources. And if you care to know, it came number thirty-three in the world. No, its' not Princeton, or Harvard... but I really don't give a fuck. America doesn't have the only universities in the world worth going to. You are a symbol of how academic achievement and intelligence are entirely different to each other.
>>By Tchock
"bright and well educated" doesn't say anything about their character, about morals, about responsibility, about caring for others etc.
>>By Lynn
Lynn You know better. And you don't have to be an extreme environmentalist, or socialist to be of good moral character. And, by the way, bright and well educated does say alot because there are many bright people that waste their talemts....my children are productive...and that impresses me. I only hope that they survgivr the breach of the continental shelf in 2027.
Flagg Ask your parents what mature means.
Tchock...don't bother.
>>By lv2read
Conveniently, you won't have to worry about anything that happens in 2027 so you can say whatever you want about it.
Productivity is overrated. Your productivity got you into some shitty little gated community in California and now it's too late and you'll never know better, but I know. It's overrated.
>>By Flagg
Hey... a breakthrough.. 'Lynn, you know better' - I agree! You're right, I do! Pity I know you're not referring to the same thing.
>>By Lynn
Lynn, Please....
Flagg, You're excused.
Tchock, 15 and steeped in Lenin. Cmon.
Diane, If you form your opinions honestly, why are you so silent?
JustJon...even though you're not signed on anymore, the Brits meede another dosage (sp?) of reality. Especially Flagg. And give Diane a spelling lesson from your Oxford Unabridged...tell me all about the word spelt.
Well it is 1:15 in the afternoon here in beautiful Newport Beach so I will break for a couple of hours to pursue the delights of the harbor. Ambition pays off folks.
>>By lv2read
No, fifteen and knowledgable of Lenin. For people of limited intellectual capabilities - like yourself - it is hard for them to comprehend the idea of being knowledgable & interested in a subject without actually liking the events of what happened.... some examples:
You seem interested in the goings-on in Iraq - does that make you one of the insurgents? I'm interested in Hitler's Rise to Power - does that make me a Nazi? You appear to be keen to talk on the "War on Terror" a lot - are you part of Al Quaida?
Getting the point, or do I have to labour it a few hundred more times?
Hmmmm I don't know about you Diane, but I wouldn't take any lessons - English or otherwise - from JustJon.... I'd describe him as an ape swinging his arms around gormlessly whose only attempt at english is when he tries to string swear words together to from an insult..... but I wouldn't want to offend apes.
Productiveness....... this doesn't always mean earning the most money - you can be productive in lots of ways. Take deep breaths, lv2read - I know this might be hard for you to take at first..... productivity sans lots of money........
Has anyone taken the time to look at Newport Beach from Google Earth? It's an interesting sight..... The "Newport Boulevard" looks like one HUGE carpark - GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!!!!
What is it that you actually do, lv2read? We know you own a business - but would you care to share with us what type of business?
>>By Tchock
I find ancient central American religions interesting. Maybe L2R should give me a good talking to before I start sacrificing people.
I kind of miss our old pal JJ. Much as I hated his I-know-better macho posturing, his posts were at least varied, unlike L2R's.

I DON'T NEED A SPELLING LESSON FROM ANYONE, YOU IGNORANT LITTLE MAN. I HAVE A DEGREE IN THE HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND AM A HIGHLY QUALIFIED ENGLISH TEACHER.
AS I TOLD YOU, SPELT IS USED IN BOTH MODERN BRITISH AND AUSTRALIAN ENGLISH. THE VERY FACT THAT YOU FIND THIS DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND SHOWS YOU KNOW F ALL ABOUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE THE USA.
There, was that loud enough for you?
>>By Diane76
Diane, Do you see the reaction when I raise JustJohn's name. Did you read Tchock's post? Apparently not because you told me you thought for yourself. Please proove it.
Flagg, I don't want to shut you up. JustJon vaporized you. Short memory? Haven't you (of all here) learned the cost of vitriol (look it up later Tchock) in language.
Tchock Would you like me to give you a spot in Newport to check out? Hint...Balboa Island.
>>By lv2read
>Do you see the reaction when I raise JustJohn's name. Did you read Tchock's post? Apparently not because you told me you thought for yourself. Please proove it.
This has nothing to do with my post. I don't know who Just John is, and frankly I don't care.
>>By Diane76
Diane, My point is that Flaff, Tchock can dish it out but can't take it. When it came to name calling. belittling comments, he was superb. I can match them word for word, phrase for phrase but it is not becoming for me to do so. Their reaction to name calling was name calling in return. Every post directed at me (recently) has been to question my mentality, mysanity, etc. It would help immensely if you were more impartial. Your silence is deafening.
>>By lv2read
How can I be impartial when I have assured you that something is true on two or three occasions yet you still dismiss my knowledge and assume that you are right anyway?
I find your statement '...give Diane a spelling lesson..' extremely patronising and belittling.
A little tip - if you want people to listen to you and show you respect, you've got to listen to them and respect the fact that other people are allowed their opinions or know something you don't.
No, lv2read, you don't resort to namecalling, but you do resort to patronising people.
>>By Diane76
It would help immensely if you would prove us all wrong on our opinion of you. But you can't - because somehow that would actually mean writing a sentence or two with some substance. How long have we been "arguing" on this board for? What have any of us ever said that has sparked a little bit of change in your mind? You are here - it would appear - for the sake of arguing. You cannot even accept that the word "spelt" is actually a word - apparently those who come from the country who invented the language, the oxford english dictionary & an english teacher who holds a degree in the history of english are too below you for you to even contemplate listening to.
As for name calling & belittling comments - well whereas JustJon had only this as his talent - I'm afraid he was void of all else - Flagg & myself actually have opinions & beliefs that stray slightly from the matter that "all black people in africa are monkeys" (JustJons infamous claim).
Balboa island.... upon first glance, it looks like a big concrete island. From a closer zoom, it still looks like a big concrete island. It looks like it would look nice without the civilisation though. I'm used to beaches where the nearest average-sized town is forty miles away. I got the impression that Newport was just a huge urban/suburban sprawl - took me a while to find the trees. Maybe it's better when you're looking horizontally, a feat which Google Earth can only partly do....
And Flagg, a little bit of Mayan sacrificing never did anyone any harm...... ;)
>>By Tchock
Trees in Downtown Newport? Who ever said that? Would you look for trees in New York...save Central Park. Newportr is a bustling area of commerce, vacation hoes, the home of georgous Balboa Island and the penninsula. Let's see, judge Newport by Glascow's standards, or vice versa is just plain stupid. Diane, I can't prove my way of life is best, no more than you could do so for your culture of getting by on less. You equate ambition to striving for money. We equate ambition with striving to better ourselves. You can be content with just getting by...you may work in Newport with that attitude, but you'll never live here. You are entitled to you opinions, but you are very poor by our standards.
>>By lv2read
Glas*g*ow..... and no, I wouldn't compare the two either....... I don't have a strong unwavering patriotism to my country that blurs reality from view.
Hell, let's just concrete over the whole of America. Trees - you might remember from your childhood days - are the big tall vegetation that gives oxygen & makes areas look nicer. I can look at places in my country & I can see & admit to them being dives or whatever - my country is beautiful in so many ways - as is yours - but there is so much wrong with it as well.
We don't get by on less - as a matter of fact, we have the same rubbish you get. It is you who is assuming that as we're not in the USA, we therefore live in mud-huts. Yes, we have huge out of town malls with McDonalds & clothes shops & Tescos & Buger King & KFC & Borders & Starbucks. Yes we have miles upon miles of estates devoted to selling Hondas & the rest. Yes we have high paying jobs and expensive property. Yes we American television overe here. But no - it doesn't improve our way of living, it only stagnats it. We're just being soaked up into the huge sponge that is, American life. Our "culture" - check, does Britain actually have one anymore? - is not any better than yours. Save my personal protests over the fact this is not a competition, our cultures are the same - eat, get fat, get rich, shop & indulge in our own self importance.
It is you who has said that ambition is about gaining more money - not us. We equate it with striving to achieve your dreams - well I certainly do. You however, seem to think that everyones dream - as it is in the free world - should be exactly the same as yours, and if not - then we're a bunch of layabouts on the dole who've done without for so long we don't know the meaning of the world "luxury".
And by "very poor" do you mean culturally - because our average income's twice that of yours.....
>>By Tchock
I think this illustrates most of what I have to say:

>>By Tchock
Tchock You get by on MUCH less. You can't afford 2nd or 3rd cars or SUVs or motor homes or expensive sports cars, so you don't want them.
Concrete over America...Lenin U. really captured your 'mind.'
I never equated ambition solely to money. I merely cited the lack of ambition in the UK.
Is there a correlation between lack of ambition and the outrageous number of Brits on the dole?
How do you force people to take work? Isn't it about time you try much harder in that area?
There is far more individual wealth in America...it is possuble to move up to the high class here....far more so than in the UK.
Our societies are very different. If you like the old, the tattered, the sense of history the UK is for you. If you desire modern conveniences, look elsewhere. I've been to you country...you haven't been to mine. It has been a few years since my last trip, and I'm eager to return. I send the best to you all.

Oh. My. God.
It must be quite a feat to be ignorant AND patronising at the same time. If you are a true representative of people who live in Newport, I have no wish to step foot in the place, let alone live or work there. You know why I love living in London? It's because the place is so multi-cutural, and the majority of the people I meet are non-judgemental and open-minded. You know what I have? FREEDOM - I have the freedom to form my own opinions without being judged, I have the freedom to live the way I want without being judged and I have the freedom to criticise my Prime Minister and/or government without being judged as 'unpatriotic'.
I take personal offence at you calling my country old and tattered. You haven't been here for 20 years. Yes,this country is old, it's lands are steeped in history and it has an ancient soul. You tear your history down to create new car parks and malls. I know where I'd rather live, but then, that's because I value people, freedom of mind and self-respect over the aquisition of money any day of the week.
You want me to be impartial? Stop offending me.
>>By Diane76
Diane. you aren't impartial. And no, the expression birds of a feather flock together is as true in England as here. I live in an area where most people are like myself. No, multi cultural bs, how about the word multi interests. No, i can't smell Pakistani food cooking from my neighbor's house.....they eat steaks, fried chicken and standard American faire. And, in my neighborhood, English is spoken.
parlong lots and malls are for the convenience of the people. How do you have shopping freedom when your choices are so limited?
What makes you think that Americans don't have the freedom to form their opinions, to criticize the President? Where do you get that? At Lenin U?
Stop offending you? What opinions are you not allowed to possess here? an you consort wi Al Quaida operatives, transfer hugh sums of money for the purpose of bombing cities???? No and you can't do/or say such things there either. So, what freedoms don't we have?
Are you trying to out liberal Tchock and Flagg? Please ashoe me your moderate side.
>>By lv2read
>transfer hugh sums of money for the purpose of bombing cities???? No and you can't do/or say such things there either.
You should inform your President about that. I think the citizens of Iraq, Afganistan etc etc might be surprized to learn that.
And for that matter are you trying to convince me that my fortunate escape from multiple shrapnel wounds (or worse) from the IRA bomb outside the National Liberal Club (just off Whitehall) on my way to work by fortunate virtue of having the day off wasn't funded even remotely by NORAID in NY?
And please stop the racist remarks. "People of colour" (yes that's how it's spelt here! ;) ) don't make California liberal.
For a start isn't it Republican???!?!?!
Secondly POOR people may well vote Democrat and many poor people are black, but to to suggest it is their "blackness" determines their voting preference is as illogical, inconsistent and racist as if I were to suggest that you and all your fellow Jews vote Republican because of your social grouping/race!
Your ignorance and billigerance continues to apall and disgust me.....

>And no, the expression birds of a feather flock together is as true in England as here. I live in an area where most people are like myself
I can imagine that Liverpool of twenty years ago would have been mostly white, but Diane was talking about London. 21st century London is probably more multi-cultural than anywhere you've ever been. Before you tell me I'm wrong please take into account that I LIVE in London, and try your very best to comprehend how that might conceivably add weight to my words here.
>No, i can't smell Pakistani food cooking from my neighbor's house.....they eat steaks, fried chicken and standard American faire. And, in my neighborhood, English is spoken.
You're xenophobic. You've been shut away in your little suburban rabbit hole so long you're afraid of anyone who doesn't look like you. Londoners aren't like that.
>>By Flagg
Oh god, he's got something against foreign food now.... Why don't you go the whole way then - no pasta dishes, no spicy foods, no tatties (potatos), no rice, no bananas...
It's strange that, pakistani & indian food have great restaurants that people want to go to, usually - Italien food is in high esteem, French is a cuisine... but the best restaurant of American fare as you call it, is KFC.
>>By Tchock
Shopping Freedom? Try living under a vicious dictatorship where you live in fear of voicing your thoughts because you don't know who could be listening. Try a little bit of Realism, and THEN come back & tell us all about Shopping Freedom.
There is a whole world out there for us all to see & experience, and you just want to sit in your American Mall. Nothing different - nothing unique: just mass produced mediocrity with a certified stamp on it to make you think you're special. Tell me, have you EVER been to the Sierra-Nevada mountain range? Walk the John Muir trail (another Scot !!) - you might find it a little more breathetaking than a carpark with adjacent mall & conveniently placed Starbucks.
No wonder you support Israel so much - I'm sure you'd quite like the idea of building a Wall around all the people you don't want to mix with.
