Real quick (being crypto so I don't violate any restrictions here) -- the book by Scott Graham is listed. 3 are B-I-N, one really cheap. The 2 more expensive ones have pics with...

Hey all,

Swedish Reader: CF chp 15... no freeze in French version. NS takes Sarah away from the house, no time to cook! Tell me what your chp 15 is about and I'll compare.

Boris: I'm here for AM books only.
No, just a joke. In fact I was searching for men in uniforms, and it seems that Scouse is about to fulfil my dream.

Scouse, where are you? Did you find an uniform at least?

>>By Alice   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:33)

Swedish reader and other fine food connoisseurs:

Magnum Bar -- frozen pleasure on a stick. Two chocolate coatings that cover a core of premium vanilla ice cream with a thin layer of soft strawberry or soft caramel between the coating and the ice cream.

Microwaved ? -- in US version, it reads "boxes of Kraft dinners, macaroni and microwave fries" (so french fries); in UK it's "microwave chips" (but they're disgusting no matter what if they're microwaved!).

Hadn't thought about it before, just figured it was another "AM not quite up on US" item, but now I'm wondering if this may actually be a Kraft Corp product placement for AM. Kraft is definitely known for macaroni & cheese prod's but really does not have a frozen dinners line at all (only pizza and non-frozen prepackaged cold cuts/lunch meats). Hmmm....

And hey, hold up, All -- regarding Scouse -- I had first dibs! And I wanted more than his pic! (wink, wink)

Scouse, please! Think of all the nice things I've said about you, all the compliments, all the good laughs we've had together, the tips and info I've shared with you, my cryptic little love notes.... don't they mean anything to you? Don't you care andymore? Oh, so devastatingly crushed.... (sniff, sniff...) Oh no, reduced to tulips, how sad is that?!? (sniff, sniff... sniff, sniff...) Now what was I saying, uhm, huh? -- Scouse who?

>>By am-i-binned   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:08)

what a nice description of a magnum bar im going to have to go buy one now thanx and yeah microave chips are disgusting arent they but mcdonalds chips arent though hmmm...
ok im am so going to mcdonalds tomorrow
And why are the covers of the book differant in other places ive always wanted to know that (sad i know) lol!

who's to play Nick Stone- I know his name has been mentioned before but the more I see Colin Farrell the more I think he'd be a good Nick Stone. They just need to age him a little.
Russell Crowe isn't a bad option -after a diet for sure.

Ashley Judd for the lead female for sure too......going off on a tangent here

take care, speak soon

>>By Paul R   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:21)

i kind of agree with you there for colin but i think he needs a haircut

>>By chris   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:26)

just had brain wave i think natalie protman could play sarah for sure

>>By chris   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:28)

Scouse, it's okay now, I'm over you! (Lynn, the tulips helped!) Besides I see now that you won't be rich for very much long if you keep spending it all at Amazon vs the economy of eBay... Don't know about pics in ppbk -- seems to be hdbks on the auction...

Can see Colin Farrell as a good option, Paul R, definitely edging out Russell Crowe. (hey, CF, RC -- oooh TZ!)

Chris, sorry but Natalie's way too young! Sarah's in her 30's...

Pref's for Sarah:
(1) Natascha McElhone [Deirdre, Ronin]
(2) Carrie Ann Moss [Trinity, Matrix]
(3) Ashley Judd [Libby, Double Jeopardy; Dr. Kate, Kiss the Girls]
(4) New sugg -- Charlize Theron [Ashley, Reideer Games; Gwen, Men of Honor] -- any opinions?

Yes, I know this is AM's site (I'll grab the punishment hat later), but I know we all enjoy a bit of reg humour. This is an extract I've just read from Cameron Spence's Sabre Squadron. (sorry it's a page of it, but had me in stitches p***ing myself!) - sorry scouse, know you've already read it ;-)

...we passed the time with reminiscences about past operations and, inevitably, some of the stitch-ups that tend to go hand-in-glove with them.
"Remind me to get that short-arse, Taff, for that stunt he pulled with the snake," Tom said. There was a low chorus of approval from the rest of us. It hadn't been so long ago. We were in Oman, training with the Sultan's forces. After a night climb down the side of a steep wadi, we were all sitting around a camp fire, drinking our brews and shooting the shit. We were dimly aware of Taff in the shadows, tinkering around with some climbing kit, or so we thought. None of us paid him any attention.
Presently, the Welsh one came and sat down with us. Unbeknownst to us, he'd tied one end of a thin stretch of twine onto his boot and a brightly coloured bit of 9mm rope onto the other. In the flickering light of the fire, it was perfect. Suddenly, about fifteen minutes after he'd joined us, Taff leapt to his feet, shouting 'SNAKE' at the top of his voice. As he hared off, we all saw something leaping for us out of the shadows. It was only a foot long, but bright, like most really venomous snakes are. It also moved like shit off a shovel. That was it. We scattered like a pack of worried sheep, each of us heading for something, anything, that would give us a bit of elevation. Buzz and Frank grabbed red-hot embers from the fire and ran after the thing, waving their firebrands and screaming obscenities at it. It only dawned on us what had happened when Taff came back pissing himself with laughter and trailing a sorry piece of rope behind him. He was lucky, Jeff said, not to have Buzz and Frank surgically implant their burning embers up his fundamental orifice...

sorry, but that has to be on a par with P for plenty..LOL ROFL

Re:The role of Nick S.
Colin Farrell's, not a bad choice,but,is he a leading man?,i'm not sure.
How's about Tim Roth?..i tell you, i wish they were making RC first, because that book had way better characters,IE,the fat mafia guy in florida (i have a picture in my head of ron jeremy, the porn star),Kev,Euan,Slack Pat,The Ira guy's,and of course,Simmonds.

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:40)

Alright now, Lynn, you and I know both that's not the real reason why you forgot your name -- you were too busy rolling on the floor laughing at my Dutch faux pas!

>>By am-i-binned   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 19:07)

Oh, Sheba, you've got me started now -- Snakes 101 (IA, Chp 20)....

"We were standing around in a circle while this boy brought different snakes out of their bags. All of a sudden a particularly mean-looking f****r with a deep hatred of men in shorts and flip-flops hurled itself out of Gilbert's hands and was off, spitting venom in all directions. Within seconds all the rough-tough SAS men were hanging off trees and vehicles or sprinting towards the perimeter fence. This was one very pissed-off snake; when it couldn't find a man to attack it started to eat one of the vehicles, trying to sink its fangs into the tyres. I had no idea how it was recaptured and put back into its bag -- my view was a bit restricted from the roof of the ice-cream van a hundred metres away."

>>By am-i-binned   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 19:39)

hey AIB that was quite funny that passage thingy.

NOCS stands for Nucleo Operativo Centrale di Sicurezza
there are some foto's on this site but its in italian :
utenti.lycos.it/Grendel01/nocs/nocs.htm
They are similar to the SAS mainly are called up when there
are terrorist attacks, and often go abroad aswell.
SOG stands for Special Operations Group, (CIA), these are men mainly from delta force or seals... chosen to go out and find people, spying an killing if needed. You can find a anticle on panorama about them with some foto's,
Have to study now tomorrow and friday plus sunday morning is all exams, yek .So won't be back till sunday evening. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

>>By boris   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 19:56)

Chris,
eBay can be an excellent research tool! You don't have to buy anything, you can browse forever, and you can find loads of information on books -- detailed storylines and photos, too, sometimes. Now, if while doing serious research, you happen to get inspired to acquire.... (vbw!)....

>>By am-i-binned   (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 20:00)

Thanks, Boris... Good luck on your exams!
