Chrissy, Boris, Jaffa(?), and Others....

Excuse us right now -- we are definitely a little off-kilter because some more recent posters are obviously suffering from MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder). Pseudonyms and mistaken identities are quite rampant here at the moment.

Please be patient as we try to deal with these challenging forces and identify the true from the false....

Chrissy,
Re: CR books
For recommendations, there are folks here who have read most or all of CR's books (I've only read TOTGA so far) and there is also a gnooks page for CR that might be helpful.
Re: War Junkie
Are you talking about the book by Jon Steele, who is a cameraman for British ITN News?
Re: hello hello
Not sure where you're posting from, Chrissy, but we are a very global fellowship here so waking hours for you may be sleeping hours for others. We have up to 16 hours difference in time zones that I know of, okay?

Boris,
Sorry about the file -- I'll just send the text unformatted within an email, okay?

Lynn and Sheba,

Chrissy, I’ve read all Chris Ryan books too, except for Land of Fire. I bought it but I’m reading Frank Collins Baptism of Fire at the moment. Haven’t got too much reading time ánd reading in English goes a bit slow so it will take some time before I’m finished (almost half way through now and really enjoying it, like I said before).
The Chris Ryan books are easily read in random order, I don’t really have a favourite BUT there are a couple of books (his first) about the character Geordie Sharp and I would prefer to read those in order of publication.
I do not have English titles at hand but I’m sure using Google will help you out.
For Boris too: we recently talked about CQB by Mike Curtis, can recommend that one too.
I’m not gonna tell ya Andy’s books remain my favourite – I’m at his board, not at the others.

Books made into film… I absolutely cannot understand why Hollywood wants to start with Crisis Four, why not start with Remote Control which has great possibilities of becoming an excellent movie….. BUT I must say we’ve had this discussion over and over again and we all have very little confidence in Hollywood. We are very afraid they will turn the books into a movie we won’t recognise (since Hollywood has a history of making lousy films based on great books) and will therefore be a great disappointment for those who admire his books. So we’re holding our breath….

Chrissy,

Unlike chatrooms, conversations in this forum are seldom real-time. Sometimes we're lucky and postings are almost spontaneous as in chatrooms, but mainly it's a matter of posting a message and checking back later... hence, message board. We include: UK, Holland, Australia, Sweden, Germany, Italy, US, and possibly others. Where are you from?

>>By am-i-binned   (Monday, 26 May 2003 21:29)

Hi again, Chrissy,
My name is a quote from Immediate Action, and way, way back somewhere in the earliest postings here I think I explained it in detail. I'd rather not explain it, though, because I prefer when people recognize the passage... and my name... it's an indication of how familiar they are with AM's writing... ;o)

>>By am-i-binned   (Monday, 26 May 2003 22:43)

Thanks am-i-binned, for the mail i finally got to read it,

Ok I know he had been married 3 times but I read he also left Jilly ooh dear god no and now he is married to a pilates teacher ooh boy, I think he does have some problems there.

>>By boobooboris   (Monday, 26 May 2003 23:20)

Chrissy -CR's book The Kremlin Device should be made into a film.
Boris - Good luck on Thursday!

Everyone else, good to see old names & lots of new names floating around.

So what was the final decision on who should play Nick Stone?

take care, speak soon

>>By Paul R   (Monday, 26 May 2003 23:53)

Oooh, another familiar voice! Hey, Paul R, glad to see you here. We haven't been slacking in your absence -- 27 pages! Think you may have to do some digging to find our answers to your Mission Impossible one-liners... vbg! ;o)

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 00:38)

Why not Liev Schreiber? He was Clark in 'The sum of all fears'. Not damaged enough for a Clark, but good for a Nick Stone.

>>By Alice   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 00:49)

Thought of a good one to play Sarah.
I'm not familiar with her name, but she's pretty well known now. She's a Brit actress, and she was in the Truman show, and an awful film with Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford, she was also in a movie with DeNiro,Sean Bean, and the guy from Leon (can't remember a thing tonight)
She has long brown hair,a longish nose, and beautiful eyes (hmm)

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:06)

I'm gonna have to use my imagination for Liev, Alice. He was Orson Wells in an HBO movie, and I can't see him in any other way right now. Did not see SOAF because of all the publicized changes from the original story by Clancy. That's my same fear for Crisis Four.

Well, Paul R, as you can see, we're still kickin' the casting question around.

But I do have a new suggestion! Robson Green -- he was in the BBC series The Grafters and also Touching Evil. Oooh, man! I shoulda thought of him sooner... even if nobody else agrees with me! Yepper, could definitely see him as Nick -- dark enough, broody enough, and rough around the edges.... oooh, hey, is it getting hot in here or .... fwumpf! uh-oh! Fire! Fire! ...

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:39)

How does anyone from the States, know who Robson Green is?
I still picture him singing on top of the pops with jerome..nah defo not a stoney

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:44)

How's about angus deaton to play the part of lynn? (doubt you know who is)

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:48)

Shhh! I have my sources, Scouse....

Nah, PBS broadcasts BBC programs when they get sufficient funding from the viewing audience to pay for the good stuff. Please explain, though, about Top of the Pops and singing with Jerome, and translate na defo not a stoney... so confusilated here!

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:49)

Angus Deaton -- from Have I Got News for You?

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:52)

Oh, Scouse, never mind translating, just a little slow here -- I just got it -- definitely not Nick Stone... ppppfffffftttttt! Wrong!

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 01:55)

i will rephrase..I still picture him on top of the pops with jerome..No,definately not a nick stone.

Top of the pops is a legendary music show in the uk.

Robson green, was the star in a hugely popular soldier drama on tv.So with his new found fame, he decided to become a pop star, and along with Jerome(don't know his second name) another actor from the tv series (they called themselves Robson & Jerome) they appeared on top of the pops, singing, that famous love song from the film "Ghost"..you know the one,,oh my love, ect

Hope thats cleared things up a bit..A-I-B..cause it hasn't for me :---)))

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:07)

Damn to late with my post

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:07)

Yeah..the very same Angus Deaton.he has that smugness that would suit lynn's character

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:09)

Am-i-binned, Robson Green? Then with Liev's forearms and Liev's hair. Umm, with hair at least...

>>By Alice   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:10)

Well, Alice, we could maybe get around the hair problem by getting the lady who does Sean Connery's pieces (vbw!), but I think we'd get a bit of resistance with a Dr. Frankenstein approach for his arms (vbg!)... ;o)

Okay, Scouse, I'll give you Angus Deaton for Lynn in exchange for you forgetting his musical attempts and concentrating instead on the Nick-ness of Robson...particularly as he was in Touching Evil.... (oh man! where's that extinguisher?)

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:35)

Scouse, your candidate for Sarah -- Is the DeNiro/Bean movie Ronin? Natascha McElhone -- Oooooh! Yes!! Perfect!!! Absotively!

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:44)

yepper..thats the one..we have a winner

>>By scouse   (Tuesday, 27 May 2003 02:57)

Here we go, Scouse -- excellent call! Pleasant dreams tonight!
