Hey AIB how do you what condition the things you buy from ebay will come in thats what always puts me off
vc=very confused you might need that when talking to me in the future!
>>By chris (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 21:22)
Ooooh! Look what MG just set up for us (just below the Comments box) He's testing it right now and I like! Considering how often I browse eBay just doing research, this is a most excellent tool for me, MG!
Chris, you were asking about signed copies of AM's books. Try typing in -- andy mcnab -- in the Product locator box.
You use "Back" to come back to the Messageboard screen.
One caution, cuz I just ran into this -- if you're drafting a post and you use the Product Locator before you post, you will lose your draft when you come back. The comments will be cleared. A way around that problem is to use Ctrl+N which will open the same screen again (you'll have two messageboard screens), then you can use the Locator in one, but your drafted post will remain in the other (sounds more confusing than it actually is but once you've tried it, you'll see it's easy)...
Thanks, MG!
Chris, you also asked about how do you know about the condition of what you're buying.... check the seller's feedback -- All positives, trust. Lots of negatives, don't trust. That simple.

Holland, May 28
Chris, I’m from the Netherlands. 31.. no 32 pages, and you joined us at page 28 a couple of days ago.. look what tornado speed can do for the board ;-)
Alice, there is no freeze in the French version????? I’m starting to believe the author’s name is the only thing that’s right in all foreign versions..
Re Magnum Bar…frozen pleasure description. Am-I-Binned I think you had the same deal with Magnum that Andy had with Kraft hahaha. (so how much was it..????)
Paul R, you can distract us with Ashley but I’m sticking to Bridget Moynahan. But that means it can’t be Colin Farrell for Nick (they were both in The Recruit)
Sheba, A-I-B great snake stories. I hope it’s not food to those who called our guy scared shitless though VBW.
Am-I-Binned.. faux pas, be careful! Alice might surprise you with the translation of that one! Vbg vbw. (explanation for off boarders coming. Sorry to the others)
Chris, I do own signed copies…. But ‘want to get rid of’???? Go wash your mouth!! ;-)
Boris thanx for the NOCS and SOG info. Good luck and till Sunday.
Scouse, is your boss on warpath the reason you haven’t been back? Give us his address…
Lynn

>>By am-i-binned (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 22:45)
(Slap!) Sorry, Christina -- such a bad joke even my fingers rebelled and pulled a double-speak on me! I'll be over here in the corner, learning my lesson....

In Holland we have this little rhyme about a princess, Eerst heette ze Marijke Toen kon ze niet kijke Toen heette ze Christien Maar toen kon ze nog niet zien
Translation: (this princess has an abnormity of one of her eyes, she was called Marijke but changed her name to Christina.) First she was called Marijke, She could not see (kijke) She changed her name into Christien But she still could not see (zien)
Meaning.. Chris-Chrissy-Christina.. .whatever you call yourself it won't change who you are. So have a good time here, drop the name thing and relax... If you run too fast through the forest you'll never get to see the butterfly on the wood-violet... ;-)
(dddaaammn tulips!!)

WonderfulllllL..just got a HB copy of Baptism of Fire, thanks to mg's new invention.I also have Violent delights on the way,per you, Nugget (A-I-B)..so i'm a happy bunny,
Lynn,my darling, dutch treat,i have not forgotten my promise of a pic,I am just in the process of growing a moustache,or muzzy, as its known in my part of the world, and i'm still on the lookout for that uniform, hows about a fireman instaed??
RE,IA,can't believe i missed this one AIB,
"To me Pierre was a french bloke's name,i hadn't realized it was also a chinese woman's.Then, very slowly,i started to get the picture.I looked around and realized that everybody in the bar was a bloke.I looked again at pierre - and the awful truth sank in. "Just going to the toilet,' I said, disentangling her hand from my thigh.
Pure class.

Lynn -- I just realized what you'd said! You better not share that little faux pas with any other offboarders!!!!! My face is red hot enough! I don't need my head bursting into flames, thank you!
>>By am-i-binned (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 23:19)
You know, if you really want those copies signed, you can send them to Transworld and Andy says he'll sign them for you...that's what he said in an interview I read, but it's up to you risking postage/value of book etc.
Enjoying the scouse/uniform thing. Got me thinking, perhaps I could dust off mine and send a pic...then realised my uniform trousers are several inches smaller now, or is it my waist that's bigger? Damn, I can never work that one out...
>>By Sheba (Wednesday, 28 May 2003 23:22)
Beware on e-bay!! Just had a quick look (Thanks for the product locator by the way ;-) )
There's a few items being sold as 'signed AM merchandise', but if you look at the signatures, some of them really vary.
How do we know which are real and which are fake?
>>By Sheba (Thursday, 29 May 2003 00:00)
Scouse, congrets on your buy of Baptism!! Great!! Hope it arrives soon. Darling I like, dutch treat.. hmmm But why do you think I want a moustache when I can get a pic?? And a fireman instead of a uniform… how would you were him, on your back??
Re: faux pas Too late Am-I-Binned…. VBG!
SHEBA !!! OOOPS TOO LATE !! RUN AND HIDE… A-I-B is coming after you now for saying that Transworld…..eehh…. ....thing.
You got dust on your pic Sheba?? (now A-I-B is coming after me too, can I run with you Sheba??)

>>By Lynn (Thursday, 29 May 2003 00:32)
Lynn, ah... Lynn... Punishment hat of course. And no tulips this week.
>>By Alice (Thursday, 29 May 2003 00:45)
A-I-B, you really are keen to get those pics aren't you? hahahaha!
>>By Paul R (Thursday, 29 May 2003 05:03)
Lynn, you are so wicked! Yes, you better run! Sheba, get outta my way -- I'll deal with you about Transworld later!
Lynn, you've even got the poor innocents making faux pas now! With what you've been saying though, if I explained to them -- what's that expression -- two flamin' heads are better than one?!? Yeah, that'd be fair! Okay, so listen up, Innocents! Here's what Lynn's been laughing about. You see, in Holland they have an expressio.... (Damn! This won't work; if I tell then everyone will know why my face combusted in the first place!)
Okay...well then....on second thought...(ahem)...
If you all will excuse me, I must go now and try to comb out my singed hair.
Lynn, you keep running!

Scouse, you happy bunny you... Must ask you: you just got a hdbk copy of Frank Collins' "Baptism of Fire" from eBay? I've been watching and there were/are other BoF books but they're not Frank's. Was it newly listed item as of today?
>>By am-i-binned (Thursday, 29 May 2003 08:05)
ok people calm down you go away for a night and confusion happens i am VC!. lyn thanx for ryhm. whats this thing about transword and AIB please explain!
>>By christina (Thursday, 29 May 2003 09:53)
oops forgot to say scouse not the fireman uniform
>>By christina (Thursday, 29 May 2003 09:55)
If you buy and request Andy McNab book from Transworld you know it has been signed by Andy.
You buy any where else it could be forgery. There is a man out there signing and selling signed copy books of lot of authors. They are all forgeries. I know I bought Andy book from Transworld for a friend who lives in England. When I go there on holiday the signatory was different than one I bought from ebay.
>>By Jumbalaya (Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:09)
Just spotted a 'signed' copy of Remote Control for sale at a whopping 0.99p........
Thanks Jumbalaya
>>By Sheba (Thursday, 29 May 2003 10:23)
Thanx Jumbalaya but what do you just send a book to transword and ask for it to be signed by AM if so whats the address?
>>By christina (Thursday, 29 May 2003 13:00)
Welcome, Jumbalaya.....
You present a serious dilemma for me. I welcome you, and yet immediately I am going to disagree with you. So forgive me but this is a massive sore point. I do not take fault with you; my argument is with Transworld. (Sheba, you can listen too....)
Jumbalaya, you must be one of the few truly blessed indeed. Unfortunately, since our earliest pages here and at the previous site where some of us posted, we have discussed the fact that getting any assistance whatsoever from Transworld is a non-laughing joke. And, in my own personal experience, my own book signing efforts were refused! Absolutely refused by Transworld! And refused more than one time! (There is quite a story behind this, as some here know, but I prefer not to post the details in public. Maybe if you decide to stay here with us, one day I will tell you offboard.)
I have speculated more than once that AM does not really have a clue as to how Transworld responds to his readership! My favorite public gripe (as posted on pg 2): "And, while he's well recognized in the UK, forget about Transworld -- they couldn't care less about making any efforts on behalf of his readers! In fact, I'd found a Transworld promotion (for copies of Liberation Day) limited to only UK & NI residents. When I asked whether they would include US readers, the reply I received from the Senior VP of Marketing was:
"We are not promoting Andy McNab in the US as we do not publish Andy McNab in the US - any Andy McNab competitions open to US residents would be organised by his US publishers who I believe are called Pocket Books. Despite the fact that this particular competition is not open to US residents, our market is nonetheless rather large so we are not limiting our market by excluding the US.”
Absolutely incredible! And, this is the Senior Marketing Executive -- marketing what! She didn't even know his US publisher! Clueless twit!"
Now, not to be totally negative (although I am really), back on pg 9, I excitedly announced that finally real, live, personal contact had been made with Andy's publicist at Transworld, and a promise given that we (at gnooks) would be advised as to Andy-related activities. Well, guess what? Nothing, absolute silence since. Poor Andy, has he really been totally sequestered since March 30, 2003? Well, gee whiz, I can think of two television programs, a radio interview, and several newspaper articles that indicate he's actually been out and about. Oooh, or maybe Transworld is clueless as to Andy's activities, too....
So I apologize, Jumbalaya, for welcoming you with a disagreement. In truth, my argument is with Transworld, but since they are deaf, dumb and blind -- you get the brunt of it instead. As I said, you must be one of the few truly blessed because for the rest of us (long-time posters) Transword never ceases to constantly disappoint.
