>>By am-i-binned (Saturday, 11 Oct 2003 22:26)
Told you Nutter..you're at the right place.. :o)
I've been thinking about Borisette's Eric Bana too. It would not be so strange to have Eric Bana since Andy is supposed to be working with Bonnie Timmerman who did the casting for Black Hawk Down. This movie had also Jerry Bruckheimer producer. Jerry Bruckheimer/Bonnie Timmerman also responsible for The Insider with Michael Mann director. Where have we heard that name before. Michael Mann, also Heat, casting Bonnie Timmerman, with Al Pacino in both movies and our Andy as advisor. My guess is that good old Al will be a sport and be in Crisis 4 too, he can pass for someone from the Middle-East. And now I see Josh Hartnett too.. Black Hawk Down, also Pearl Harbour with Jerry Bruckheimer producer.. And what about Russel Crowe.. The Insider with Michael Mann and Bonnie Timmerman and he has been mentioned before (but us..but who cares haha). Andyway..it’s a small world and I’m sure I’ve left stuff out… someone know of more connections? (not Tom Sizemore please..I’ve seen him a couple of times but not my favourite at all so I leave him out) === deep sigh ==== I just noticed we've been talking about this from page 1. When is someone gonna put us out of our misery... :0)

I reckon James Marsters, who plays British vampire Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, would make a great Nick Stone if he swapped his peroxide punk cut for something a bit more natural.
He's got the best cockney accent any Yank ever managed to get, he's got a high profile in the US as well as here and he combines self-deprecating humour, the occasional touch of seediness and a real sense of menace, hard-bastardry and aggression on Buffy.
He's convincing in the fight scenes but not built like a brick shithouse, also qualities that'd make him perfect as Nick Stone.
In support, here are links to James as a non-blonde:

http://www.geocities.com/ Tokyo/Bridge/6015/james/004.jpg
I've had to split the links onto two lines as Flork doesn't let single words of over 50 letters post b.t.w, just copy and paste the whole link.

Never considered James Marsters for NS, shanti.... hmmm. He does a very convincing cockney accent to my ears but what do I know? I'm an American living in Texas. You, on the other hand, would have a better ear for that sort of thing, so I'll take your word on it. ;) He does manage to convey charm, humor, wit, menace and seediness as Spike. It would be interesting to see if he could manage a part like Nick.
>>By Dare (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 05:11)
Maybe it should be Halle Barry to play Nick Stone
>>By Lynn (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 08:31)
I feel so much better now. Memoirs of an Infantry Officer is amazing but it makes me cry even more than Bambi's mum being shot, but I'm not alone!!!!
Nice to see Mr McNab is campaigning against illegally exported weapons from the UK.
>>By Bethan (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 10:02)
Please don't let Russell Crowe play Nick Stone, that would break my heart I can't stand Crowe. My vote's for Halle Berry ha ha or what about the ugly one from Con Air that would ruin a few fantasies. Nah. I'm still voting Jamie Draven, in fact I might start a 'Jamie for Nick' campaign, he'd fit right in.
>>By Bethan (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 15:40)

>>By am-i-binned (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 17:42)
Lynn, who were you suggesting to play NS? If I decoded your post correctly and it was the actress Halle Berry, she's extremely talented, but it would require major changes to the story and character. And I'm not sure if she does a reasonable cockney accent. ;)
As for James Marsters, have you seen the show? IF he's as talented an actor as he is pleasant to watch, he might be able to play NS quite effectively. He isn't British, but nobody's perfect.
Of course, I still vote for Sean Bean. He's perfect for the part. :)
>>By Dare (Monday, 13 Oct 2003 18:02)

Drat, I missed one!
Which writer would you never have on your bookshelf? Can't think of anybody I wouldn't at least try to read, though the fellow that wrote King of Elfland's Daughter isn't really my cup of tea.
>>By Dare (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 05:40)
Do you think I should do a real one too because people might think I have a social disability to really open up, due to some kind of 'lack-of whatever' in my youth??
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 10:01)
Lynn I'm really worried about your current reading material. You really have to sort that out! But never fear there's only 30 days until Dark Winter arrives. Can you hang on that long???
>>By Bethan (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 12:21)
Oh Bethan, I've had to for soooo long.. I guess 3oi4j 234j h3r3;aldsk eeeerrrr 30 dayfqer s wn't distrrrrrrurub me.
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 12:27)
I've just been on amazon (god bless them) to put in my order for oooh Dark Winter (can't wait til bloody Christmas) and they've posted the back cover details. So here whether you've seen it or not or even care (as if!!)
From the Back Cover Outside of Pakistan, the world's highest concentration of al-Qaeda lurks in South-East Asia and there, Nick Stone's bosses get wind of an act of terror that will dwarf even the nightmare of 9/11.
When Stone is despatched to Malaysia by the CIA to assassinate a biochemist, he expects his mission to be a straightforward part of the fight against Bin Laden. But there are complications, not least because he is working alongside an attractive woman whose motives he doesnût fully understand.
Target neutralized, Stone returns to the USA and a maelstrom of personal problems. Kelly, the fourteen-year-old orphan to whom he is joint guardian, cannot escape the ghosts of her traumatic past; she has a prescription drug habit that's spiralling out of control, and Stone knows he is the only one who can help her. He takes her to recuperate in England, but the terrible consequences of what happened in Penang are never far behind.
Realizing he cannot escape them, Stone unearths a doomsday threat against the populations of New York, London and Berlin and finds himself facing an unspeakable trade-off: the life of someone he loves, against those of millions he doesnût even know . . .
Just something to tempt you, well there's no mention of Carrie, I hope to god he doesn't marry him off to that beautiful woman either (who I hear is based on me ha ha).
>>By Bethan (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 12:44)
Thanx Bethan, I can tell your job is a busy as mine.. haha I like Kelly coming back, I like Carrie leaving and as long as the beautiful woman is based on any of us I like it too haha!
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 12:47)
Well how many of you have ordered the book DW allready??? Nice one BEthan, interesting. Hopefully it isn't CArrie that turns up again, I didn't like her in LL but then I didn't even read LD but never mind anyway. Should be full of action this book, more than the otherones, and it's nice to see Kelly is back also. Liked the little interview Nutter found for us but I'm not going to sit here and tab the Q & A again, anyway who cares about my interests. Do you think he'll do the interview on °Relax with a book " again like he did for LD, well he hasn't for the mo, just checked. How does he do his pubblicity anyway if he doesn't want to show his face around and he won't go into the bookshops to sign some copies. It's ok with the newspapers putting his book for pubblicity but than not everybody reads them and the same for other type of magazines.
Now another question. Saddam Hussein, the news is full of him, it seems he is hiding in his birthcity Tikrid. But I ask who is searching for the man, is it only the americans, and if so would it be the Delta guys, or is it also the british like the SAS. And why is it they can't find him after all this time. Where is the so called intelligence here and satellite info???
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 13:18)
Wow now wait a minute, just been on Bol.com where I can find english books here in Italy. Now this is just too much : 26,84 euro for Dark Winter, that is toooooooooo expensive for me for a book, even if it is AM. That would be like 31 $. I'm waiting.
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 13:28)
that is with the euro : 1 euro = 1,18 $
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 13:30)
Lynn you and I work very hard, maybe not on what we're supposed to be!! But isn't life too short to worry about that.
Borisette no idea about Hussein but I'd imagine that he has hoards of false trails planted for his own protection, I know I would. I'm sure he has many look-a-likes too how do they know they're following the right one? You'd be kind of gutted staking someone out for months to realise you had Uncle Len instead.
There's McNab's next book. Nick Stone hunting Hussein only to find he's abducted Uncle Len and that he's allergic to ketamine (can't remember if that's right forgive me) so he's dead and now he's got to get rid of him double quick and find another Uncle Len to put back in his place. Bestseller that, I'll take 10% Mr McNab thank you kindly.
>>By Bethan (Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003 17:08)
Ouch Bethan.... can you picture McNab..for days, weeks, months keeping notes, pen down everything that comes up.. do the necessary research only to find his ‘scraps’ mentioned on this board… loads of work down the drain because he can’t use it anymore. Shame on you! :o)
