Should this board change it's name to "Florida" ?

Hah-hah.. sorry guys, couldn't resist. >;)

>>By ortlieb   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 12:32)

IS EVERYBODY FEMALE IN THIS BOARD???

Hands up if you are a bloke?

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 12:39)

Buddy it was Famous Five and Secret Seven my dear not Secret Five!!

Loved Swallows and Amazons too but was too childish to be able to read Titty's name without giggling (still giggle so haven't grown up much!)

>>By Bethan   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 13:10)

I'm raising my hand Pompy.

>>By ortlieb   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 13:24)

You know.. some studies are mainly followed by male students, even today, so it's possible a guy has to share only a couple of girls with a whole classroom full of other guys..
This board could compensate for that.. A couple of guys surrounded by girls..mmmm... (couldn't resist either)

What did you mean by " FLorida" Ortie? You lost me there.. (not in Florida ... but....you know..)

Boarding-school was not in the famous 5 or secret seven...(it was a girl called Pitty (in Holland that is) and those twins...)
But I think there were only 4 and not 7... to this day (DON'T LAUGH)
I still wished I could talk to animals like one of those boys in the Blyton books...

From McNab to Blyton... how did this happen haha. Well.. come to think of it... A group of 4..adventurers..secrets.. Not that far away.

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 13:49)

Well, I did say I didn't get much chance to read Blyton (by torchlight) and I always did like boating, camp fires, and running wild in woods, then Agatha Christie was much more scary, more scream factor stuff... Of course, D.H.Lawrence went beyond tittilation factor: absolute wide-eyed amazement!!!! Sort of saw all schoolmasters/shoolgroundsmen in a whole new light after LC'sL...

Oh, if you liked the Watchman and haven't read Greed, you're missing out on CR's best book ever...It really does shame Lib Day for plot, but that doesn't mean I didn't thoroughly enjoy LD...

Anyhow, getting back to subject matter of this board: men reading AM - what would be interesting is why they do so, and would those who haven't read Biggles (the forerunner to James Bond) what led them to AM/CR et al...

Come on lads, voice up, take the floor and gob off a bit...

>>By buddy   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 13:54)

Hey AIB - those photos - shame he has a fuzzy face for the posing photos with the white shirt - mmmm you just would, wouldnt you? apart from that too much chin.

Did you see the SAS survival programme last night? I fell asleep through it but watching Eddie Stone being the grey man was annoying, frankly. So I wasnt sad to fall asleep.

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 13:55)

Cor, and Sean Bean played the part of Mellors in LC'sL TV movie...Lush lush...

>>By buddy   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:02)

Thinking of photos - AM pics...

If he still wears a specific ring he'd be recognisable on that alone! Face blurred or not...And, he looks fantastic in dark blue shirts, which enhance his eyes when he's not wearing reflective shades...

*weak knees*

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:14)

I can't believe this.......
Com'on girls the man is married, and so are some of ussss. (ok ok, well I guess ther's notting wrong with us just looking and daydreaming ...and he'll surely be the charmer around here) ;)

>>By borisette   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:29)

Do you reckon if I set up a website with a pic of AM (no blur) and charged $50 dollar to view that I'd clear a fortune within days?

I would need to clear a fortune to do a disappearing act...

Hey, for fans odf Sean Bean (ib birthday suit):
http://www.mrsgiggles.com/hunks/sean_bean.html

>>By buddy   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:31)

Being married didn't bother him, before, did it?

>>By buddy   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:33)

nah - fear not Borisette, I dont really fancy AM - its more the idea of AM really.

And as for Sean Bean - that web site with photos of him AS AM - now we are talking!

nah, its all just daft fantasy really. But that's why I wanted to know if any of us are chaps because it would be ace to think guys are interested in this stuff rather than just drooling girls.

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:35)

I've been trying to get hold of Greed some idiot got it before me at library but I did buy a copy of EOTS on amazon for a quid the other day, time to read the other side of the story for myself!! Buddy how old were you when you read LC'sL? I tried to get it out the library when I was 14 and the librarian told me off and sent me home with a note for my Mum!

I agree that Eddie Stone was really annoying, I wanted to slap him myself and I kept hoping the interrogator would. Mind you the state I'd be in after slapping him I wouldn't want!

>>By Bethan   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 14:55)

I know and see Eddie last night, being the defiant - hahaha, oh Eddie, you're such a rebel! I'd have you over my knee and no mistake!

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 15:12)

Male vs female (borrowing from "24" re: Jack Bauer):

Guys want to be him, girls just want him...

>>By am-i-binned   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 15:47)

And " ace to think guys are interested in this stuff rather than just drooling girls"
Forget that one!

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 16:25)

Lynn:
In a lot of sit-coms, Florida is often mentioned as a popular retirement-haven for senior citizens.... :)

buddy:

Don't have much time for reading books, but I'll be on the lookout for Greed.
How do you compare The Hit List and The Watchman? I've always felt that they were similar in plot and character-development....

>>By ortlieb   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 16:25)

Also: my profile does talk about Kiefer, but Jack Bauer?? No thanx, the guy's never home!
...eeeerrr....nor are these sas fellas...eerrrrr... no drooling for me either

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 16:28)

Ortlieb... you got good running shoes????? senior citizens?????

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 16:35)

Hey now, Ortlieb! And here I was planning on seeing you during Spring Break in Daytona. Punishment hat and the corner for you, boy-o!

>>By am-i-binned   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 16:41)

Well Pomplemous I'm sure Eddie would enjoy that very much!! And you probably wouldn't have to ask him twice.

Orlieb what are you trying to say? You're only as young as the man (or woman to be PC) you feel!! Which in Pomplemous's case being Stone over the knee Florida may be right ha ha. Successfully lowered the tone again, mission completed.

>>By Bethan   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 16:55)

Hahaha - good girl!

Ah yes, give Eddie an interrogation he wouldnt dare defy me through!

ecch!

I am not grasping this Florida thing.....

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 17:06)

Spring Break, Am-I-Binned? Jeez, we haven't endured Autumn half-term yet, then there's Xmas/St Nicholas, etc., (dread dread - fingercross)...

Is you on another planet, or did a package arrive from Holland recently?

Florida? Ha, ha, all them there Barry Manilow fans in pastel colours, you know 70 year young five-year-olds in candy striped shorts riding golf buggies...

Ortlieb: keep running!!! The Hit List was great, didn't read The Watchman, because someone else told me the whole plot whilst in a semi-drunken stupor...

Eddie Stone as "Grey Man" - not a chance, he couldn't disguise his accent if his ife depended upon it...

Am-I-Binned's: Male vs female (borrowing from "24" re: Jack Bauer):

Guys want to be him, girls just want him...

In AM's case that would most likely be women want Sean Bean aka B20 movie, 'coz most haven't a clue what AM really looks like or the fact that he changes colour with the seasons (northern hemisphere) like a polar fox...

>>By buddy   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 17:24)

and who was it you were asking received a package from Holland?

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 17:57)

Plan and prepare, Buddy, plan and prepare -- Spring Break will be here sooner than we think... the 7 P's...

Okay, yeah, so maybe a few tulips arrived but I didn't inhale! LOL!

>>By am-i-binned   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 18:21)

Hahahaha

>>By Pomplemous   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 18:29)

OOh my what have you galls been up too.
AM changing colour every season, hmmm well that 's interesting.. Prefer "bald " though, much cheaper.
As for the tulips, well I guess they've arrived allright, well they have at my place, so snnnnnnnnnniffy snoooooooooooof, pitty my internal nose membranes refuse to cooperate now.
Will try again!
Oh and Orty, well you know what they say about Florida, Miami, it's the 2 home for the "GAY" (with no offense), so maybe you'd better go and check for your self. Us galls arenplanning a trip to :
-first stop California, World Surfing Championship
-second stop Hawaii, another World Surfing Championship. plus ten free surfing lessons
(each of us will have her own instructor offcourse)
(and we can choose)
Who wants to come? Just call me, we can even include a couple of wrestling lessons aswell, can always be usefull you never know...

Ooh dear just had a look at this site (have to warn you, you need a good stomach to watch this)
www.rotten.com

>>By borisette   (Monday, 29 Sep 2003 20:09)

You guys will get me arrested!! As to any "package arrive from Holland" NOT GUILTY!!! :o)
If you can't handle the tulips..leave them well alone but don't blame any of it on me.

Andy changing colour with the seasons..you mean he's got Miss A. in winter, Miss B. in the spring, Miss C...etc. ???
