"but understand I'll... hide in a hole all cowardy custard if you throw sticks" -- Awww, but where's the sport in that? How 'bout taking a page from your ol' mate Chris? Hmmm... Hunting Nutter...
Multiple entendres intended! ;o)

Now ladies let us not make Nutter run from us And welcome to Rex, nice to hear you live in italy tooo, quite a wet place Venice is, and just can't stand the news here telling us when it's highwater in Venice. What happened to the Captain, and Paul and Ignaty and all the others...... Buddy where aret thou....?
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 21:13)
So some grrrrrrowling don't scare you away! Well done Nutter. You've passed selection. It's a tough one to F Troop, not many succeed :o)
But seriously... doubt McNab's interviews??? Where did I say that? No, I haven't been to the Ryan board for a while.. so maybe I should take a look again, don't want to miss any vital information..
Ordered Dark Winter today...and GOOD NEWS... Shop said it's possible I will have it before the 3rd....... happens with foreign shops sometimes.. !!!!!.
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 21:17)
but I could have made that up
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 21:18)
Good for you Lynn, where did you order your book anyway??
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 21:43)
Hey guess what, I'm sooooo excited, well this has nothing to do with AM actually but..... I'VE GOT TICKETS FOR THE WORLD WIDE CHAMPIONSHIP OF WRESTLINGGGGGGGGG! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! This saturday here in Italy, heeeeeeeeehaaaaaa!
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 22:09)
Who knows, perhaps Mick (the "Jap slap" trainer.) might show up in the ring! =)
>>By Deusrexmachina (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 22:23)
*Ahem* Heh, hi again to all. Welllllll, answering Borisette, indeed it's kinda wet here, even with 30 kms from Venice the humidity must come by bus to deliver itself here, drat.
I'm quite lost here, because I don't know how to continue from where you've left. Actually... I dunno what is there to discuss!!
"Alpha squad, I need backup here, over!" "Roger that Delta, backup is on the way!" "That's a roger. Over & out!"
>>By Deusrexmachina (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 22:31)
"Actually... I dunno what is there to discuss!!" in the sense, what specifically can we talk about Mr Andy McNab's books &/or personality? :)
>>By Deusrexmachina (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 22:33)
For I-am-binned: yeah, I've not read yet "Last light", will order it from the States, and may have it in my paws in a couple of months. Can't wait for it!
>>By Deusrexmachina (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 22:45)
Hey, Borisette! Why do you need tickets? You can get into Worldwide Championship Wrestling here for free...VBG! You're right, though, we do need a roll call... many MIA voices, but, then again, lots of folks with very busy schedules right now...
Hi again, Rex! You're doing just fine -- good grins and all -- desirable F Troop qualities! Anything and everything is fair game, just beware of growling and hissing if too anti-Andy attitude is displayed. Some things never change...
>>By am-i-binned (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 22:54)
Haha, ok! Actually at eighteen I wanted to join the army, but due to my flat feet I wasn't considered "soldier-enable", bah! In my younger fantasies I've wished to be part of the Navy SEALS (I know I know, I was a toddler then!), and after receiving the good news from the Esercito Italiano -Italian Army- I was quite depressed... ... for almost a month!
Ok, I've a question for whoever feels like answering: has any of your attitudes changed after reading any of Mr Andy McNab's books?
>>By Deusrexmachina (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 23:07)
Attitude about what, Rex?
>>By am-i-binned (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 23:19)
Well Rex, my moto from when I've discouvered the SAS has been " Who dares wins". And it sure helps sometimes.......
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 23:27)
Bye the way RExi boy, have you ever read Chris Ryan, he's not bad either. He's an ex SAS too, well you should know. And you can find him here on the gnooks board aswell, but he's only got to page 4 actually. Try and buy LL from bol.com in Italy, it's easier and cheaper I think, or try the ebay here. I've allready read it, it's great but I prefered Firewall.
>>By borisette (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 23:32)
Oh my god, I sure hope Pomplemous don't read that question.. she'll give you an impression of her latest Mission to Marks & Spencer in the latest Spymobile while meeting 'shaken-not-stirred-Colin-Firth' What do you mean by change in attitude ??? (Just kidding Pompie..I love your debriefs)
Has my attitude changed? I am here. That's a terrific example.
AIB: Worldwide Championship Wrestling here for free.... LOL ! If you add some mud we might even get the guys back..
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 23:40)
Attitude towards life, the way you see it in general...
Not saying it has to be EXACTLY like Mr Andy McNab in His "Bravo Two Zero" at the end of the book (I've to translate it properly from Italian... hold on!): "A lot of things that in the past could have annoyed me, now they're like fresh water: red wine on the carpet, etc. [...] I appreciate much more the every-day small things; instead of going to town by car, I force myself to have a walk. [...]"
P.S.: I only connect after 9 p.m. till snoring time -not so loud, I hope- during working days, and in the week-ends, if not out, around 4 p.m. till 8 a.m. (with dinner & breakfast in between!); just in case I'll not reply in time, you'll know I've an excuse.
>>By Deusrexmachina (Tuesday, 21 Oct 2003 23:45)
Mark Nichol's Ultimate Risk hit the bookstands this week. It's all about the biggest and most destructive mission in recent SAS history. It's fetching a higher price ticket than Dark Winter.
Any one who wants to try their hand at hunting nutter you got to come in and get me, and that hole has a backdoor.
>>By nutter (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 01:00)
Hello Rex and Nutter,
:) Looks like things are going really well. And here we are on page 91! Way cool!
Rex -- As far as attitude changing, yes a bit. It's been very interesting because Nick and I are going through similar emotional journeys. Albeit in twisted ways. ;) We are both from similar backgrounds and we use some of the same coping skills. I like that he's learning to value himself for more than just what he does for the "mission".
:)
>>By Dare (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 04:33)
Just read nutter's posts on the earlier page. Oh my, that's what I get for being good and studying instead of keeping up on the board. :)
Heck, girls! You've been holding out on me?!?!? OK, so what ARE AM's measurements? Not that I really care, but since nutter seems overly concerned with size.... ;)
>>By Dare (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 04:47)
I think this time I'm gonna leave this one well alone.... (oooooh aaaaaahh miaauw) :o)
>>By Lynn (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 10:11)
Dare it's a habitual thing with us men. Nod nod, wink wink, cheery smile -- sly glances from side to side in the urinals! That way you know who's in drag.
>>By nutter (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 10:19)
Lynn you are so right that is me in DW, I just hope he describes me in my full beauty ha ha!
Started reading First into Action (Duncan Falconer) last night, now there is one tough cookie. Final selection march 21 miles with 175lb, ouch. I'm having trouble putting it down at the mo so I've brought it into work ssshhh don't tell the boss!
AIB I hope you're not thinking of hunting nutter like you were hunting bambi!
>>By Bethan (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 10:22)
Should have added. Trouser wearing women are more difficult to figure than men in skirts. Hard-faced, hard-boiled, and tight-lipped enough they can speak with their mouths shut.
>>By nutter (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 10:24)
Good morning Bethan. I'm out of here before the boss shifts in today.
AIB better be on good terms with Thumper. The canny little character taught Bambi every thing he knew. Does Bambi remind you of anyone?
>>By nutter (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 10:31)
Oi Nutter I'm wearing trousers, smiling, not at all hard-boiled and not very hard-faced! Maybe you didn't mean it literally.....As for Bambi, um wouldn't like to say. Ah his poor mother sniff sniff....
>>By Bethan (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 10:42)
Lynn! Punishment hat for your "mud" comment! tick, tock, tick, tock... Now, take it off and give it to Bethan for her Hunting Nutter/Hunting Bambi comment!
Er, uhm, Bethan... Guess you actually oughta give the hat to me for posting about Hunting Bambi in the first place, huh?
Rex re: attitude... Yes, definitely an impact on my attitude. Now I find I measure everything on a "wuss" scale. Autumn chill vs. worst weather conditions in thirty years. Heavy grocery bags vs. 209 lbs of kit. Not enough hot water for shower vs. icy Euphrates. Stubbed toe and tore off entire nail (ouch!) vs. CR losing all 10 during his E&E. Really puts things into perspective. What's my problem ("wuss!") compared to any of theirs?
Hey, Nutter... "Trouser wearing women...they can speak with their mouths shut" -- a pretty remarkable talent! Right up there with a look that can kill and eyes in the back of the head. Dunno about Thumper, last time I saw him he was pretty twitterpated. And yeah, Bambi reminds me of someone -- but if I tell you, well, you know what I'll have to do to you... ;o)
Oh, and by the way, Nutter, like Dare I re-read your earlier posts on pg 90 and realized I missed answering your question: "McNab sounds like the unhappiest rich man alive. Why is that?" Simple: He hasn't met me yet! LOL!!!
>>By am-i-binned (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 11:49)
AIB: Take the hat in all humble ness... Hasn't met you yet is what making Andy unhappy???? By all means what is keeping you then??
Nutter...eeerrr.. just to be sure... If I come to get you.. who's getting out the backdoor of that hole? (this is important, my whole tactics depends on your answer)
And woman that can keep talking while their mouths are shut... this must be a man's ultimate nightmare.. :o)
>>By Lynn (Wednesday, 22 Oct 2003 17:50)
Hi all. Gad, sure took me quite some time to format half disk, and I've to still deal with the defrag stuff & re-installing updates (happiness is having a 56kb that could go a biiiiiiit faster, *sigh*!). Actually it took me the whole day to decide which file to preserve; yeah, something like an SAS selection, without bergen.
I'm honest: after reading His books, I'm not done with them yet, and began jumping this & that chaptor (if not starting all over again.) and laughing my jaws off with his excellent humour. It's as if I've seen them for the first time. :)
I'm amazed how Nick Stone represents my ideal way of living. Deep down I hope to not marry and to not have any kids due to my own family background, and also because I know what I can be -in good & bed terms, of course. I've mainly imagined my life to be like his kind, on-your-guard style, most of the time alone, with very few people to trust knowing you can depend your life on them (like with Pat & Kev in "Remote Control". Well, before being murdered, that is. Poor souls.) and also vice-versa, to be good in what you know... if I may do some comparison, it's something like the Knight in Shiney Armour & Sparkling Teeth sort of fairy tale I think, almost hope, to live in, and this doesn't mean I'll go hopping on top a pony (I'm not tall.) towards Miss Snoring Beauty to live happily ever after, no! It's more the "heroic" figure I'm interested, the "one who solves problems"; indeed, like my nick (Stone?) I constantly use, with just the letter "R" put in the right place. This figure was in my head for a long time and I think Nick Stone has these features, and actually I'm already living certain parts of them already. Hope Mr Andy wouldn't react badly reading this since he has his considerations for heroes...
Then there were, and sometimes are, certain moments that I'd desired having a child, a little girl to take care of, by myself. This emerged not by reading His books since I've started feeling this way a couple of years ago, and certainly wasn't interested in SAS but more keen in knowing a bit more of the Navy SEALS ("Under siege": Steven Seagal, anyone?); plus, reading wasn't at all my priority while being in front of the PC blowing up pixeled enemies and saving the digital world! It's mainly a malinchonic feeling that rises in me when I read His books, but not necessirly mixed with bitterness. Well, ok, sometimes I do feel bitter, but I kinda like it. (Boy, ain't I a masochist?!)
Hmmm, at last I've finally managed to make Windows Media Player tune in Lene Marlin's "U weren't there" (just bought the single, not the album.)... talking about melancholiness! Perhaps this song could be nice in one of Mr Andy's future film, like focusing on Kelly watching the sky and thinking of Nick, then in the next scene there's Nick thinking of her... Better stop here, sniff!
Ok, must have depressed enough some of you, so I'll go and continue dealing with the PC. :) (In your opinion, how long will it take to download 14Mb with my connection?!)
>>By Deusrexmachina (Thursday, 23 Oct 2003 02:40)
Hi Nutter, It's not just men who have the issue with size, really. I mean, women have issues about breast size, waist size, the sizes they wear. Shoe size, for heaven's sake! That one I've never understood. :)
And I like your attitude, Lynn! Good answer! :)
