Oh, you're so guilty Beth - and sooo forgiven!!
Who could resist??
I absolutely understand. Liberation Day will be published in Holland this autumn (fall) and I kept saying I wanted to read in Dutch because English is more difficult and I didn't want to miss any joke or clue but guess who impatiently bought English
version..... :-)

Haaa page 49.
I suggest we have a party when we reach 50.

We'll invite Andy !!

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 15:12)

Why wait 'til 50, Lynn -- no time like the present! Oh, Andy? We're here, where are you?

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 16:35)

Should we say we mean the author of the books?
Or else Andy McNab, you know, the one who turned up saying that Andy the author stole his name?
Or shall we invite them both?

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 16:47)

The more, the merrier, you mean? ;o)

OMG seriously boris you are bad luck i just spilt my drink all over the floor seriously im not joking. But it was lemonade so no stain yeah

>>By christina   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 20:46)

Boris,

Which book is OR? jj! (just joking) Because I prefer AM's writing style, attitude, and humour, my personal pref is definitely B20! But whether you should read it first... hmmm.... probably yes, because if you don't get around to TOTGA you won't be missing as much... (sorry, CR...).

As to FN's book, now there are several of us with her book, anybody checked to see if she has a forum here? Certainly hope not! (oooh, meow! selfslap!) ;o)

Been wondering:

Scouse, you around? H, low profile or no profile?

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 21:44)

Which H?

>>By H   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 22:10)

You don't know? vbg! vbw!

>>By am-i-binned   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 22:39)

Love it. Still lurking.

>>By H   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 22:49)

incredible arrived at page 79 B20
Think I'll have a shower for now and then off to bed, heavy day tomorrow, difficult patients.

H. : lurking for what?

Christina : FN.'s book is AM's 3 wife.
I wonder what AM thought about her books?

>>By boris   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 23:02)

Paul R to get his finger out and finish off the grey man, one way or another.

Buddy to get from off / under her roof.

The reappearance of Yomper, with or without the OSA.

>>By H   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 23:30)

Forgot to add: some _serious_ NS action in the next book (and if that unfortunately has to include sex, then so be it), faster cars than the merc and the Israelis to toe the line in rl. And Boris and Christina, sound posts, very well-met.

>>By H   (Tuesday, 1 Jul 2003 23:56)

Ooops. I meant 'toe the line' in the contractual negotiations we are having at the moment. Probably better described as a fight to the death over open access, but we're just the customer, so what do we know?

>>By H   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 00:05)

Hey, H -- Listen! Whooooosh! That's the sound of half of what you just said flying right over my head! lol!

Come on now, 'fess up -- you haven't just been lurking; you've been taking classes in crypto-speak! (..[whispered]..I was with you right up to the part about sex...) vbw!

I thought I said skate lightly, not obfuscate blithely.... vbg! ;o)

Hello!

Does anyone know of any discussion-groups or similar forums where SAS-books are discussed in general? As Andy McNab's 'Bravo Two Zero' and Chris Ryan's 'The One That Got Away' is more or less "responsible" for the release of a flow of fictional and non-fictional books regarding SAS ops, I have taken profound interest in the debate and controversy that has following in the wake of the before-mentioned books.
If this forum isn't strictly limited to McNab, then I've probably found the place I'm looking for.

>>By ortlieb   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 08:19)

Oh, H. I’m already having such problems understanding simple English language…. How am I suppose to crack your codes?? Can you hear my deep and hopeless sigh?? It’s not s*x, it’s being desperate.. (sorry)

Hi Ortlieb. I can’t speak only for myself. This forum does have the name Andy McNab but strictly limited no. But I must say personally I do come here for Andy McNab’s books which are my favorite and I’ve read only a few others.
(Chris Ryan, Mike Curtis and at the moment Frank Collins)

Boris, I'll be happy to meet you offboard...

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 09:13)

Ooops, Hi Ortlieb, I CAN only speak for myself...

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 09:15)

H? I be lurking with ya. Long time since I posted and have to say it's gone girlie stupid.
With you on the Paul R and buddy, the ones who make any sense to me and you got a hand it to buddy for giving this bunch a women the going over their heads routine.
What makes me laugh to myself is how Andy M would get a word in long enough to explain who he was to this bunch. I figure he'd juump out the window and do a fast runner without buddy as backup. Not his type around here that I can see. Too gobby in the wrong way. The nagging type he hates.

>>By pacemaker   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 09:59)

So is the Frances Nicholson book worth reading? It's a long trek to the nearest library with it. The gossip queen in me is interested just because he made her take bits out (or so I've heard!).

>>By Beth   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 10:06)

Boris - you asked: 'do members have psych tests before acceptance?'
Answer - an evaluation is made on new recruits before they join the green army. if they then pursue a career in sf, selection is designed to push a soldiers mind to its ultimate limit (arguably more so than his physicality) if there's a weakness it'll show. PTSD occurs after prolonged exposure to different situs with no therapy other than a debrief piss-up and a fight (most squaddies in ANY reg would not have it any other way)

you also asked: 'who's the toughest, Delta, SAS/SBS, etc.
answer - how do you define tough? Big muscles, lots of stamina and strength? I think the answer maybe in the answer to the previous question. But my money would be on none of them - rather the reg that remains secret and very few have heard of.

Apologies if I offended anybody by answering buddy/chris' question earlier

ps christina, will you marry me?

>>By me   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 10:18)

Hi Ortlieb
Have you visited www.dean-francis.co.uk ? There is also a gnooks forum for him - bit quiet lately though with not much to report !!!

>>By Sheba   (Wednesday, 2 Jul 2003 10:21)

Aw now, doggonit, Pacemaker, I thought we'd managed to get on better footing with you! I didn't realize your lurking in silence had more to do with sulking about our girlie stupid ways than it did with discretion... ;o(

Are you suggesting that it would be better if we stop our gobby postings and sit in faithful silence waiting for AM to miraculously appear and post? (The word "fantasist" comes to mind for some reason.) I believe this is a message board, isn't it?--not a séance! We're not here to try to establish contact (through this medium) with someone dear from beyond the veil. We're here to talk (ooooh how girlie!) and enjoy each other's company (ooooh how sociable!).

If we're such a disappointment to you, Pacemaker, please feel free to resume your previous position...
