Ha! I've had my copy since last week. Unfortunately, I haven't begun to read it yet since I'm still working on Dark Winter.

Okay, okay... I confess, I did take a little peek. Apparently the first page starts out, "For Majorette........"

Finished reading Deep Black the other day and must say....

... ok I wont say anything cos I know quite a few haven't got theirs yet but Im waiting for the next book now, I got a long time to wait sadly :(

>>By Big G   (Sunday, 21 Nov 2004 19:49)

Yep, got Deep Black, took off from work to finish reading it. I won't miss work for alcohol, gambling or even my usual heroin fix. I may have a problem. Actually I really have a problem; I have to wait for the next AM book.

Any suggestions for a substitute fix. I’ve read CR’s and just finished Duncan Falconers “The Hostage”. They are both ok, but not to the same level of detail and realism that is the signature of AM.

Become British or be sacked, Commonwealth troops are told

"Troops serving in the special forces, such as the Special Air Service (SAS) and the Special Boat Service (SBS), in addition to intelligence, submarines and other "sensitive" jobs have been asked to become British or face demotion."
(..)
"The SAS, in particular, has a long reputation of recruiting Commonwealth troops, especially those from Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. "
(..)
"Andy McNab, the former SAS soldier turned best-selling novelist, said he was appalled at the test. "There are other security vetting systems to filter out potential spies or terrorists," he said.

"My first squadron major in the Regiment [SAS] was a Fijian and to question his loyalty would be ridiculous."

A sincere "thank you" to all who've read Deep Black so far ... and yet not revealed anything plot-wise! Muchly grateful! :o)

As to Chatzy's AWOL status, methinks me spoke too soon:

BadTime and others suffering withdrawal symptoms, you could try John Nichol (Tornado Down guy) or Johnny 'two combs' Howard or you could scan the reviews at AMFT site, there's plenty of good stuff out there if you look!

>>By camban   (Monday, 22 Nov 2004 12:40)

for fucks sake, the media make so much shit up it's appaling or maybe not. It's probably true but most of the empire recruits we have are switched on, but it's mainly the minority that fuck it up and thats due to such a laid back nature and sucking there teeth which really pisses white guys off that know the meaning of it.

>>By fony   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 00:20)

Egads, Spike and Lynn...

Y'all are putting me to shame in the research department with your articles. But I've uncovered a little gem for you. Turns out AM had a piece published in the Mail on Sunday (Mov. 7, 2004) where he addressed the BBC's recent decision to pull his interview from the Radio4 program. Pretty interesting piece, but the most interesting sentence came halfway through when he wrote.....

"I had to fly straight back to New York afterwards because I'm writing a script for an American film company and there were certain 'creative differences' to sort out."

hmmmmmmmmm......... a script?

Noticeably absent is the name of the movie, or any other details that could hint at its origin. Could it be that Crisis Four is in the making, yet again? Or is this a brand new project? Or maybe, *snicker* AM is GHOSTWRITING action scripts for well-known Hollywood writers who lack the grit and real-world experience to make their own drivel believeable? hahahaha.....

Anybody who wants the full text, flork me.

and as for the shooting of the rag head, fuck him, he deserved it. do you think they would have give him first aid and a pat on the back, "you allright mate" don't think so. so i think the media and the civilian population should just jump on the band wagon and realise that it's war and the guy was probably shitting himself, plus he was pissed off due to casualtys that the force had sustained. And they all should realise it's not about are democratic right or wrong it's about making sure they don't come to our country and kill us. " obviously it would be allright then though" "poor fuckers, we invaded their country, we should be ashamed".

DO NOT CLICK THOSE LINKS, EVERYONE.
How old are you, fony, 13? There are ladies here, and they're here to discuss an author, not to watch "Faces of Death."

>>By Just Jon   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 02:41)

Look, I know that was harsh, but...I'm just disappointed as hell. Damn, man.

>>By Just Jon   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 02:46)

It's okay, JJ...... I think fony's point was that war is hell. And those of us who haven't experienced it shouldn't pass judgment on those who have to live through it.

The pictures are graphic, yes, and fony might have added a small warning to that effect.

Fony, ease up on the sauce, man, or I'm gonna come over there and kick your sorry ass! Or at the very least doctor your pic to make you a "loser" just like me. Don't think I won't!

>>By Majorette   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 03:25)

Hey, I know Fony, too, and he's a better man than me...That's why I'm so pissed he didn't think before posting that stuff!

>>By Just Jon   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 05:19)

Well it is an interesting topic 'cause even though I feel everything that happens should be out in the open, the question is .. to whom??
I have my doubts it’s good that we get presented things we can’t judge about, which is exactly what we’re doing anyway. I have no doubts this is just an example of things that happen in a war. And it’s no good shrugging shoulders and just go on cause if it’s a signal it should be picked up. But picked up by the right people. Who ever knows a surgeon that goes into the street with a sick liver and ask anyone walking by their opinion and how to cure the poor person that owns the liver??? “We” are being presented with images and stories that are incomplete and incomprehendable with a circus as result that may be more harmful than doing good.

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 09:41)

(and look who's giving an opinion now..duh!)

Maybe Miramax is trying to piggyback on the success of the Bourne movies with their own spy: Nick Stone. Except hes a brit.

Bourne aint got nothin on our Nicky boy.

>>By ShadowRaptor101   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 19:19)

A little adding on my former post : I said:
> Well it is an interesting topic <

That is not about obviously deleted pictures, cause those posts were not there when I posted my piece. It does make more sense now, Majorette talking about pictures was not clear - until now.

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 23 Nov 2004 21:12)

I know I'm way out in left field here but I read a comment sometime back that seemed to indicate that andy mcnab didn't know his own age. 42? 43? 44? if someone asks me how old I am, believe me I know. unless the man is playing games (fair enough) or is lying (also fair enough).

>>By january   (Wednesday, 24 Nov 2004 00:33)

Oh please I hope I am right here January,

I think he was adopted????? Thus not knowing his real age?????
Yekes, I hope this 'ol memory serves me.

>>By DTO   (Wednesday, 24 Nov 2004 00:44)

i would not be suprised if Nick Stone goes from being an ex sas to delta or navy seal... Remember when you write a screenplay, and this is from someone who knows. You have a market audience, that audience, has to put bums on seats...And no matter how you cut this cake most of the money made by films is in the states and apart from james bond which is an icon , and therefore it hasnt been amercianized yet..with Nick Stone you have a british hero, working for the americans....
American films are not known for their british history, as films like U-572 and saving private ryan, which basiclly says the yanks won the second world war.
i cant see how nick will be made without him being american..

>>By Bri Gamer   (Wednesday, 24 Nov 2004 01:53)

Absolutely gagging for word from UK folks...

Did anyone get to the Frontline Club last night?

If so, sitrep! Pronto -- spare no detail!

If not, WHY not?!?

(Only possible excuses I can think of are: "sold out and no sane person would scalp their ticket" or "I died" -- cuz so long as it was in the same timezone on the same land mass ain't no way driving distance or gas prices would deter me!)
