Description of the Book Danny Watts’ grandfather, Fergus, was a traitor. One of the worst sort. An SAS explosives expert who betrayed his country and his regiment for money. Drug money. He was arrested and left to rot and die in a Columbian jail.
At least, that’s what seventeen year-old Danny is told when his hopes of becoming a soldier are destroyed forever. But he knows something the Army doesn’t seem to know. Fergus Watts is alive and in the UK, living in secret under an assumed name – but where? Fergus is Danny’s only living relative. Burning with fury and desire for revenge, Danny sets out to track down his grandfather and expose him. In doing so he sets in train an explosive sequence of events which throw Danny and Fergus together on the run from the people who want Fergus, and now Danny, dead.
Packed with breathtaking action, SAS procedures, surveillance and survival techniques, this is a fast-moving, action-packed thriller for teenagers. There will be four books in the BOY SOLIDER sequence. TV rights have been sold to Zenith, makers of Inspector Morse, Hamish McBeth and Byker Grove.

Majorette: >My eyes.... my eyes!!! Why did I have to read that? I don't know what's worse, Orty, the >content or the quality of that limerick! LOL!
Oy... just applying some artiztik freedum.... :-) (that goes for the technical quality). As for the content - well..... I did it 3 minutes, late at night, so..... braincells were probably a bit dull at that point...
Oh btw people... I've just finished Liberation Day! Now I'm facing the agony of choice: Soldier Five or Dark Winter. Hmm.... for some reason, I think you all are somewhat biased. Nevermind, I'll sort it out myself.... ;-)
>>By ortlieb (Thursday, 21 Oct 2004 15:08)
Biased?? Who?? Us???? Whatever gave you that idea??
There ones was a guy up in Norway he thought we were biased, that's OK But what he forgot is that he could not say that he's diff'rent in any way
ok, also in 3 min but it's the thought that counts ;-)

Cheers Maj, I got in touch with McNabs agent through Transworld and that's how I got my books all signed for me, took a bit of doing but I sent them a letter and didn't get a reply, I included all my contact details etc and then out of the blue I got an email from a girl in the office saying he was coming in and would happily sign my books, I got 'em all wrapped and sent down and they sent me them back all signed with a bonus freebie of Bravo Two Zero the later addition!! When I knew that Deep Black was coming out I dropped them an email and they gave me the name and number of someone to speak to. Haven't tried yet though, didn't get my lazy behind out of bed early enough and then forgot!!

Ahh but is it really flu Brian or is it just Man Flu?
Let's not forget that any cold we have is always 10 x worse than any other and that it is usually a severe bout of man flu and not a sore throat, blocked nose and a cough!!
>>By Big G (Thursday, 21 Oct 2004 20:07)
Nope flu as in, muscle ache and sickness temprature, sore throat two bob bits and assorted pains and sniffles

>>By ortlieb (Thursday, 21 Oct 2004 22:08)
Wow, hardy bookmarks tho, Ort! Took 30 tries to bring them down?!? Mine whimp out and cave first time around!
Re: Yahoo link You mean where your transcript's gonna be real soon? (hint, hint)... ;o) (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AMFTroop/)
>>By am-i-binned (Thursday, 21 Oct 2004 22:55)
Orty....
Speaking of bookmark links, you might consider bookmarks.yahoo.com/
You can upload your bookmarks to Yahoo, and then access them via internet any time you want, from anywhere you want. It's pretty handy if you work off several PCs and find it difficult to keep all the bookmarks in sync.

While waiting impatiently for Deep Black...
Updated Synopsis on Amazon UK:
"Nick Stone's future has never looked so bleak. The only person he's ever loved is dead. The only people who might give him a reason not to join her have turned their backs. Until a chance encounter with a man he saved ten years ago appears to throw him a lifeline . . .
{new} But on the bullet- and bomb-scarred streets of Baghdad, second chances are in short supply. A simple quest becomes a journey to the heart of a chilling conspiracy; too late, Stone realizes that he is being used as bait – to lure into the open a man he believes can offer some salvation but whom the darker forces of the West will stop at nothing to destroy . . .
From its violent and shocking opening in the Muslim enclaves of Bosnia, through vivid, lightning-paced action in war-torn Iraq, this unforgettable story proves Andy McNab yet again to be the master of the modern thriller, a writer at the very top of his game."
Hmmm... Especially interesting considering AM had four excursions into Iraq this past year...
