doesn't seem to go all that well, and strangely there's some dating service attached to it ? don't ask me why .
>>By spiketheprovo (Wednesday, 29 Sep 2004 19:10)
There could be several reasons for that but i think you better flork me for those !! ;-))
Bye
>>By Ninjawoman (Wednesday, 29 Sep 2004 21:15)
oh my... proof that my springboard theory is alive and well! Andy McNab leads to all things SAS, and now, apparently, to dating services! hmmmm... I wonder if he knows that he's dabbling in match-making now?
>>By Majorette (Wednesday, 29 Sep 2004 21:26)
Of course!! When you are in the SAS (as I am) it is your job to know everything that goes on.
kinda especially when you're organising it.
>>By Pomplemous (Thursday, 30 Sep 2004 10:37)
Ohmiword, Spike, you've been digging deep!
At first I glance I mistook TheAndyMcNabGroup as the original name of the current YSF group started back in early Spring, but it's not! YSF was AndyMcnabSASwriters previously. This one you found is actually a group that's been around for quite a while but since they were so inactive, I sort of forgot about them.
There was also another one -- B20_1991 -- which I now see is gone completely. That group was strictly restricted to discussing the B20 mission only, period, no tangents whatsoever ("just the facts, ma'am"). Don't think we would have been able to meet their requirements.... ;o)

Ooooh, listen up, you pups!
"Former SAS officers are to teach gap-year students preparing to travel abroad how to look after themselves in hostile situations. ... Retired special forces soldiers have set up a one-day course in Birmingham to show teenagers some of the pitfalls they could face visiting places off the beaten track. ... The Objective Team, a group of former British Army officers specialising in safety training and security, will give young travellers advice on environmental, legal and cultural issues. ... The Birmingham gap-year course will be held at the Tarnished Halo bar on Ludgate Hill, St Pauls Square, on October 18. A discount will be offered if four or more people book together."
Hmmm... maybe a future FTroop group activity...??? ;o)

>>By Mickalos (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 01:22)
Bugger, it's not uktv history its that other american channel. Why do they always put shite on over here and when they ship our channels over to america they put all the best stuff on. BBC america is packed with monty python and father ted and what do we get? "Snooker extra"
Oh well enough of my rantings back to reading dark winter and listening to "The Essential Clash"
>>By Mickalos (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 01:30)
Now if I can get that "dish" pointed to the east, AIB. All sound fantastic. As I can now say, one month to release!!!
>>By DTO (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 01:34)
Oh and that means the book! Not a release from confinement. Which I am not! WHEW!
>>By DTO (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 01:36)
You haven't been released yet, DTO? Parole's great, you'll love it.
>>By Just Jon (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 07:05)
Errr... huh?!? Mickalos, that IS the UK History Channel -- they email me their monthly programming schedules just to torture and torment me! Of course, I asked them to so... err... so, okay, so maybe it is self-abuse... ;o)
www.thehistorychannel.co.uk/indexPHP. php?subpage=ontv&action=LoadContent
Hey, DTO! If you get that dish pointed easterly good enough, I'll travel westerly to join ya, released or not!
Oh, and speaking of! Just Jon, your parole officer left a message: "Quit hacking at that ankle bracelet!"
>>By am-i-binned (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 09:27)
I'm not able to get UK History Channel either.... crapola!
>>By ortlieb (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 15:53)
"Mail Call" and "Tactical to Practical" are series avilable on the US History Channel all the time. Wonder if the eps are the same.....
>>By Majorette (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 17:58)
Well good call Maj. Mail Call features the drill sargent from Full Metal Jacket. Darn can't remember his name. What intrest me are the episodes on the Falklands and Desert Storm.
Your left, left, left, right left!
>>By DTO (Saturday, 2 Oct 2004 18:20)
Mail Call Sarge's name is R. Lee Ermey. For those who don't know, his portrayal of a Drill Sergeant in Full Metal Jacket is an absolute must-see. Mail Call is always good, as well. Ermey actually was a drill sarge in U.S.M.C., and when he fires a weapon on Mail Call (basically every episode) his Marine background is readily apparent. I highly recommend both the Kubrick movie and the show to anyone who wants to see a Marine recruit's worst nightmare.
>>By Just Jon (Sunday, 3 Oct 2004 04:13)
This is a completely gratuitous message whose sole purpose is to put Andy McNab back at the top of the Flork literature list where he belongs.
>>By Mikey_Canuck (Sunday, 3 Oct 2004 17:24)
Well done, Mickey! You've just passed Selection. Welcome to F Troop!
Now please state your purp... I mean, please state which AM books you've read.... :o)
>>By am-i-binned (Sunday, 3 Oct 2004 19:23)
Errr... Mikey... sorry 'bout messin' up on your name... :o(
(mutter, mutter... stupid typoman!... mutter, mutter)
>>By am-i-binned (Sunday, 3 Oct 2004 19:51)
Don't tell anyone, but I'm an interloper. I haven't read any Andy McNab books. I just noticed that he always seems to be at the top of the Literature list. I check in here from time to time, because you guys talk about Iraq and the military. Plus, you all seem to have a lot of fun. You don't take yourselves too seriously.
>>By Mikey_Canuck (Sunday, 3 Oct 2004 21:17)
