"Hey Reg are'nt you buddy"

Hi Becks, not being one for flork jargon, I'm somewhat confused as to what this means. Not wanting to sound a tad silly, could you enlighten me.

Regards,

Reg

My goodness Becks,

Is Reg Buddy? You must be joking, right?

Reg brings thoughtful insight and entertainment to this board and its followers. Of which we the readers can quickly identify his experience. To which I say, thanks Reginald, keep it up.

Here's something for our game-lovers and McNab is NOT involved And I still dare post ;-)

broker you is pushing off topic more with. "Is Reg Buddy? You must be joking, right?

Reg brings thoughtful insight and entertainment to this board"

becks is nearer mark than you think on reggy boy. and buddy girl. she were married to special forces officer. you don't get any closer insight . she went ops with readit as well. theres more insight first fifty pages on the board. on occasion an mm puts in a word or two worth looking at.

Pooley, if you'd care to do intel on Broker you'd know he and buddy go way back too ;-)

On games again, sorry, found Starfleet intelligence... look who is a "Terran" hehe

And anyone wondering NO... idea who the guy on the picture is but it's not 'our' AM

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 7 Feb 2005 12:41)

Good grief, Lynn! Are your search engines permanently set for Warp 10 or what?!?

And it may not be "our" AM but absolutely, without a doubt, the character is based on our AM and NS! For those who might not always explore links, a few TZ* examples:

"... Andy was asked ... to try the new SAS Selection. SAS is a Starfleet Intelligence unit, Special Action Section. It specializes in behind enemy lines operations and bodyguard duties. Andy passed the SAS Selection and received the sand colored beret with the Winged Dagger. ..."

"... when both the parents were killed in a Tal Shiar led terrorist attack, Andy adopted the only surviving member, Kelly. ..."

"... Clearly a fighting man, but disturbed by being father to an adopted daughter. [Kelly] was witness to the gruesome deaths of her parents, and was saved in the nick of time by Andy, Therefore chosen as the guardian and later adoptive father of the girl. Being behind enemy lines is hard work, and the extra baggage of having a child can prove dangerous. ... "

de-de-de-de... de-de-de-de....*

:o)

(* Twilight Zone -- things that are uncannily similar...)

Just a Warped brain AIB :-)

Dear all..........................and thank you broker for your kind words.

I do not wish to add much to this trivial argument on who is what etc as I have no interest in it at all, though I do find it all quite amusing. At the end of the day I know I am a professional male soldier where all that I work with know who I am. If people think different then I am not going to lose any sleep over it. Respecting anonymity, the person/s that people think I am, well, I am simply not, I can assure you. I'm rather befuddled as to how such a conclusion was reached concerning me. Whatever reason, it's all a bit silly don't you think.

I think Nomad, who has visited me at my Camp, would disagree as to who some people think I am. Mind you, with the conspiracy-minded individuals here some may say that Nomad is a friend or someone else. Nomad could be Lynn, or Majorette. Becks could be Just Jon or am-i-binned. Poolespocket could be Buddy, or a past poster..........who knows ! I'm not particularly interested.

What I will say is that though some details are best kept anonymous, I would welcome anyone who visited me at my Camp where I have nothing to hide. I think it is called separating the men from the boys (please excuse me ladies though you will understand the terminology).

With regards,

Reg..........aka Becks, Lynn and good ol' Majorette.

PS : They do say that one who shouts the most, has the most to hide.

For a bit of R & R this board sure beats Eastenders !

>>By Reginald   (Monday, 7 Feb 2005 18:52)

Reg, your posts always make me smile. Of course, that could be just the lingering image I have of you having your nether-regions waxed........ ;-)

At any rate, well said.

PS - "good _ol'_ Majorette"

you're killing me here........

My god, I'm on a roll today. It's all becoming quite addictive you know.

Forgot to mention about a sniper symposium I attended last year. I was not participating but attended for viewing. It was organised by the British Army Battle School and held in the Beacons (Wales), quite familiar grounds for our detachment training. In short, it was a sniper competition open internationally to UK and foreign military/police personnel, with respective candidates operating in two-man teams. It comprised of the following :

UK (19 participants) : Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Prince of Wales Own Regt.,Royal Regt. of Fusiliers, Royal Irish Regt., Royal Scots, Royal Regt. of Wales, Green Howards, Irish Guards, Highlanders, King's Regt., Royal Green Jackets, Queen's Lancashire Regt., Gurkha Rifles, Parachute Regt., Anglian Regt., Staffordshire Regt., Cheshire Regt., Light Infantry, an RAF Ground Regt and snipers from the Metropolitan (London) Police (SO19).

Foreign (13 participants) : German Army, Italian Army, Thai Army, Canadian Army, Austrian Army, Czech Army, Latvian Army, Malaysian Army, Dutch Special Forces (KCT), Singapore Army, Singapore Police, US Marines, US Army Sniper School.

A tough series of exercises including real scenario engagements was undertaken. The majority were using 7.62mm Accuracy International sniper rifles and all calibers were 7.62mm. Targeting included ranges up to 800mts.

The outcome...................................as follows..........1st - 10th place.

1. Metropolitan Police (SO19)
2. Grenadier Guards
3. Prince of Wales Own Regt.
4. Latvian Army
5. Parachute Regt.
6. Royal Irish Regt.
7. Coldstream Guards
8. Royal Regt. Fusiliers
9. Dutch Special Forces (KCT)
10. German Army

Regards,

Reg

Dutch were 9??? Must be the inheritance of our 'make love not war' policies. Mmmm - suppose being on this board the inheritance is not effecting me ;-)
I'm not Nomad btw, he likes big cats - I like big

>>By Reginald   (Tuesday, 8 Feb 2005 17:51)

uhm....Reg, I meant dogs - of course - somehow that dropped from the post

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 8 Feb 2005 19:31)

reggy boy. you feeling like a roll again?

a lady from other place asked if you could answer a vital question she thinks you are best person to reply on. to tell truth i couldn't help with this one. RM badge insignia in't same as regular army.

"Please could you ask Reginald at gnooks what does a black bow and arrow on red shield signify. The arrow is about to be loosed from bow. This particular embroidered insignia was discovered amongst a host of military medals, ribbons, and badges belonging to a woman. Many thanks to anyone who can help me discover a little more about this person's military existance. She was a very assertive yet reserved kind of woman..."

>>By poolesprocket   (Wednesday, 9 Feb 2005 09:33)

Oh please!!! Who've been accusing us of asking people to verify being what they claim to be!?!??!
Reg only answer should be 'sod off' to where you prefer to be!

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 9 Feb 2005 10:55)

Oh boy, me in bad mood.
You let 'lady on other board' use you to send messages here Pool?
Oops oh well.. you owe her so much. DUH!!

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 9 Feb 2005 10:58)

Call me naive, but I thought the question seemed legit.....

Look, Poolesprocket isn't the most loved character here, but he has been right about at least one thing in the past (that I know of) so that makes me inclined to grant him some leeway.

I'm sure if one of us had a question that only Poole could answer, he'd try to oblige within reason, however grudgingly. Wouldn't you, Poole?

>>By Majorette   (Wednesday, 9 Feb 2005 12:52)

Oh but I do love Pooley Maj!! Just like you got to love Snowwhite's Grumpy ;-)
Any question is ligit - of course, it's the motivation behind the question I'm having a 'problem' with, you see, if you want to know something and you ask....that's just a smart thing to do, however... if you do know the answer to the question, you gotta wonder what's the reason for asking :-)

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 9 Feb 2005 13:33)

Hi poolesprocket,

I'm not quite sure why and how the lady knows about be unless she reads this board or someone has told her about me. I have no problem with that and like anyone here, if asked a question about a subject, if known, will gladly enlighten. It's all part of the learning curve. I always ask.

As you have stated that the insignia and medals belonged to the lady, it does somewhat narrow the search down to the unit or organisation that she was in service with (sorry to the ladies here, I'm not being sexist I assure you all !). Serving as part of the 16 AA Brigade, I am quite familiar with the comprised units and their DZ flashes - I am looking at the entire Brigade's structure and unit's insignia on a wall plaque as I write this but the lady's patch elludes me (I presume the insignia of the lady is an arm patch). I'm only really familiar with my surroundings and a limited number of other units and their insignia. The only thing I can think of which has been brought to my attention just recently is the Anti-Aircraft Command. They have an insignia of a black bow and arrow just about to be fired upwards on a red background. If you find out it's identity, please enlighten me.

Sorry I can't be of much help. There is an MOD book in the office that has the entire insignia of the British Army including all their infrastructures, eg battalions, squadrons etc. I'll have a look when I have the time but it is of the Army today. If the lady's patch is quite old then it will not be represented.

Regards,

Reg

<<Anti-Aircraft Command>>

mmmmmm... the cobwebs are parting ever so slowly..... I remember hearing mention of this before. On this board, no less............

>>By Majorette   (Wednesday, 9 Feb 2005 20:54)

reg old boy. lady eternally grateful. she wanted to pass on message cause she swore she would never return to gnooks. some thing to do with with shite mail from ftroop's nip heel terrier.

message reads

"I do read AM gnooks column with great interest. Not surprising really, as I hold it in "certain" esteem despite the old "girl" contingent within F-Troop and their anti toward truth Vs fiction. ;-)

That said, I still read between lines (call it instinct - "Nomad" will be on cue with that one) I can sniff out "new hats" on "old heads" as before, and it's such a pointless exercise not least in trying to back up with verified mates et al. Be what you are. Stand alone and fight your own battles it earns more respect in the long term!"
