I thought the McNab BB thing wasn't until February, guess I read it wrong. The mission now is to get a torrent up (or find one)! If anyone saves the show on their comp I'd be happy to convert (if necessary) and upload a torrent for the McNabbites of the world to enjoy.

I'd love to see it just to relish over stupid reality-TV imbecils.
Hey McNab! Too many online porn site subscriptions taking its toll on the ol' bank account? Isn't there a decent, non-sellout bone left in your body, mate? I didn't think it was possible, but you have indeed hit a new low. I hope you slip on a banana peel the next time you're laughing all the way to the bank, knock your head on the pavement, and become paraplegic. That way, you can team up with Chris Ryan and create a new show: "Para SAS", where Ryan will have to prove his medics specialty- and nurturing skills carrying your lame ass on his back while having a hunter force chase him through Uzbeki sewers (with a TV crew on the heels too, obviously). The chance of the both of you tripping and drowning in raw sewage is a bonus worth looking into from a producer's perspective. Shame on your sell-out, marketing-driven souls. Tell me: what's your next project? G.I. Joe action figures, "Bravo Two Zero" edition? Alien vs Predator vs ex SAS operators?
Still, you sleep like a f****ing baby at night, don't you?

I think its awesomely cool he's doing live TV, it is so cool of him!! Andy maybe the coolest Brit soldier ever and he can do no wrong, ever!

Don't forget Ryan...
But in all honesty, the world will always consist of gits like McNab and Ryan - that's just the way it is. If the MoD and 22 SAS had had any spine, they would've devised a strategy a long time ago to prevent the commercialization of something which is (supposed to be) a noble profession. Just my $0.02 that's surely non-PC in this crowd, so I'll be on my way then. LOL. Bye for now.

ah there's nothing like the SBS in my opinion
>>By Lynn (Monday, 14 Jan 2008 17:16)
SBS is for pussies!
>>By My Cheatin Heart (Monday, 14 Jan 2008 23:55)
There are quite a few SBS books out there who are good, in my opinion. Most of them were written in pure spite, authors originally cringing at the thought of putting pen to paper. But the (in their eyes) unbalanced heroic praise for their "landcrab" counterpart regiment became too much to be left unchallenged. Fortunately, Duncan F. has stuck to authorship and "letters from the conflict zone" for his time in the spotlight. Unlike certain aforementioned commercial sell-out low-lifes, he -does- appear to have some decent bones left in his body.
McNab: excellent soldier - sellout hack.

Boy I just read Boy Soldier 4, and I am here to tell you if I was a teen again I'd feel inspired to go kill drug users. Damn fine book by a damn fine author.
I wish I could be a writer. But I can barely freaking type after I just finished BS 4, Meltdown. I only hope he cum's out with more BS. How about the rest of you?
My guess he thinks up with the idea and Rigby types it out for him? But I got no idea how he rigors through!
>>By My Cheatin Heart (Tuesday, 15 Jan 2008 15:34)
"I only hope he cum's out with more BS. How about the rest of you?"
Nah, not me.
Somebody mentioned Clancy. Seems to me McNab has taken a page from Clancy's book and franchised his name. Nothing inherently wrong with making a profit, I guess, but it's a double-edged sword when your own fans start to get sick of seeing your name everywhere.
>>By Erik (Wednesday, 16 Jan 2008 07:15)
@ your own fans
You are entitled to your own opinion Erik. Of course. But that's generalising and I don't recognise it in me. Of course ;-) Andy's Facebook fanclub is still growing fast, there may be fans who turned their backs - but there are new ones every day.

>seems some true colours showing
Lynn: "True colors showing". Were they ever something else?
Erik: "McNab has taken a page from Clancy's book".
I disagree. Clancy's mostly all about techy references. It's as if writer's staff at Jane's Information Group started churning out fictional novels. Albeit insightful (especially his realistic conflict scenarios), Clancy's books lack a compelling nerve. The former SOF operators' advantage (such as Ryan, McNab, Falconer etc), IMHO, is the preverbial "been there, done that" factor. It brings an authenticity and realism to the page that Clancy has yet to achieve (I doubt he ever will). It's like comparing "Mission Impossible" to the "Jason Bourne" movies. Where gadgetry, explosions and face-masks dominate the "Mission Impossibles", "Jason Bourne" brings a certain grit and realism to it. The same goes for movies like "Ronin".

I agree completely with the dry man, that's why I've been promoting interest in Dick Couch on these here pages. He is a former SEAL and the only member of that elite brethren who writes fiction, as far as I know. Whilst enjoying his super- realistic stories, I am reminded of Clancy because of his obvious political knowledge and White House insider nous (he was latterly in the CIA also) though one thing he has in common with Clancy, to my mind at least, is that I much prefer his POTUS to any of the real ones, they are portrayed as intelligent men who have real-life experience, if only....
>>By camban (Thursday, 17 Jan 2008 11:52)
Interesting, camban. How are Couch'es fictionals compared to his Brit counterparts? Can you spot any obvious US vs UK differences? American vs British humor, US gung-ho-ism vs Brit perseverance etc ?
>>By waterproof (Thursday, 17 Jan 2008 20:39)
It is only through history that we can understand the present... "Waterproof" is a female. There's nothing wrong with being female, but there's something wrong with hiding that fact. Erik spells the name "Eric" with a K...So what we're dealing with here is a Dungeons and Dragons type that imagines he is a Viking. I particularly enjoy waterproof's US vs. UK analogy...gung-hoism versus perseverance. We, the Americans, defeated the Brits twice...And I'm pretty sure we can do so again. Where's your perseverance? Why not attack the U.S. and see where that gets you? The Brit special forces are indeed about perseverance...they run long distance, etc...They have the upper-body strength of twelve-old-girls, which is why U.S. Special Forces train totally differently. If you think I'm lying about this, read the biography of the SAS preacher who ended up huffing exhaust and killing himself. In his book, he points out that the U.S. forces are better marksmen and stronger athletes. All of this B.S. from limeys is just jealous people who hate McNab...because McNab did what Chris Ryan and Duncan Falconer would have done if they'd been as smart as Andy. He cashed in, and he's rich because of it. The truth is, it's the United States that protects the UK from harm, and Andy was smart enough to realize this and make some money writing. He didn't worry about revealing SAS "secrets" like "just spray an area with gunfire"...unless you're in a different troop, in which case, "don't spray an area, shoot only when you have a target." The SAS literally has artistic license, and they're more concerned with unit history than doing their jobs...Otherwise, they'd just do their job and their would be no difference among various troops. The reason you are safe right now is because of the United States and our soldiers.
>>By Hank Diddler (Thursday, 17 Jan 2008 21:02)
And now more perseverance...In case some of you don't read Andy McNab News, Andy McNab went to war recently for FHM magazine. Now THAT'S perseverance. He thought the weapons issued to troops are nifty, and apparently thinks there's a large segment of society that disagrees. I thought opposition to the war was more about soldiers getting killed for no good reason, but intrepid reporter Andy has discovered it's all about us not thinking the weapons are cool enough--and believe Andy, they're way cool! Our U.S. issue firearms were sufficient to rape a child and kill her family--God only knows what Brit weapons might be capable of! To the limeys who think Andy should keep SAS murder tactics to himself, and the Yanks who think the limeys should kill more Iraqis... I say we make everyone happy and go to war with the Brits again...Loads of killing, nifty weapons, and we'll finally get to see Andy's face when he surrenders to U.S. forces.

SEE POST ABOVE AND OBEY! That's the best "war" video I've seen...The Marines who made that are sharing a bit of life in Iraq, it's not a big gung-ho thing but the pride is still evident. 11 out of 10!

Quiet in here as of late...
>>By waterproof (Sunday, 27 Jan 2008 00:41)
>>Quiet in here as of late... Yeah, calling McNab a sellout hack on a McNab fan board kind of has that effect. But in your defense, if may just be that everything you've said has been said over and over by various disgruntled limeys who hate McNab but think Falconer and other less successful authors are the dog's bollocks. You're kinda late to the "I'm a limey who has a bone to pick with McNab" party. But you're a cool chick. So just lay off the McNab hate and I'm sure more blokes will want to talk to you.
>>By Hank Diddler (Sunday, 27 Jan 2008 02:47)
Hank: First of all, I'm fully aware of the fact that I am not the first to voice opinions that are not in favour of Mr McNab. They are opinions that have been delivered in an edgy manner, no doubt. But I wouldn't get distracted as much by delivery, as I would focus more on content. The delivery is just a vehicle to underline or understate your allegation. It's about drawing attention to the topic at hand - a George Carlin-esque approach if you will. However, I still feel that it'd be possible to have a fruitful discussion on the topics covered. Also note that so far, we haven't really covered the literary work of McNab that much. In my opinion, he's had a string of good quality books. I think he's a very able author (or at least director of his ghost writers). But that's a bit of the underlying point, isn't it? It's impossible to ignore McNab's recent frenchising adventure, and that's what I (and many others) feel deserve attention and critical commentary.
As for voicing said opinions on a "McNab fan board", I'd say that's the perfect venue. It's among the group of people whose opinions differ from yours where you'd be able to have a debate of sorts. Establishing a gathering whose sole purpose is to collectively perform virtual fellatio on dear Andy is fruitless and pointless in my opinion. Why not have the "ney-sayers" come over to form a basis for interesting debate and discussion?
By the way - I notice you keep insisting on it, but I am not female, nor am I British.
>>By waterproof (Sunday, 27 Jan 2008 15:14)
No you're something from the past (you claim), yet from the future (your profile pic) - you must be Michael J Fox.
So some so called "fruitless and pointless" links to collectively perform.. whatever..

A recent publication which may be of interest here: A Monk in the SAS by Paul Sibley:
Not a natural writer, but people with a genuinely unique tale tell often aren't, so this is well worth reading simply for a glimpse into an extraordinary life lived to the full. The major part of his SAS career took place in the Dhofar action described by many other troopers of that era but that does not detract at all, this is his own perspective. A minor irritation is the constant references to nicknames such as Lofty, Joker, Brummie, etc., are these the eponymous authors? Maybe, but I wish he had said something, these must be very common epithets within the military though. He also refers to Taff, the Hollywood fight adviser? Also referred to is the young officer who died in mysterious circumstances on his second run through Selection, you would think that the existence of the book 'The Featherman' by Ranulph Fiennes (also a Dhofar veteran) which features this story in great detail would be worthy of mention, but no. Worthy read nonetheless.
