HI BRAVO IT REALLY PISSED ME OFF, TOO. PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH I NOW TYPE IN ALL CAPS FOR NO REASON!

"A guy calls in to complain that he gets an "Access Denied" message every time he logs in. It turned out he was typing his username and password in capital letters.

Tech Support: "Ok, let's try once more, but use lower case letters."
Customer: "Uh, I only have capital letters on my keyboard."

Good for a laugh for some - reassuring for those who are computer illiterate, to know you're not alone!
;-)

Not on that but another remark I loved:
"Customer in computer shop: "Can you copy the Internet onto this disk for me?"

Happy holidays and a great 2008 to you all! :-)

Is Lynn still in charge here? And who is Hank Diddler? And does Hank any relationship with Lynn? These are the questions foremost on my mind!

>>By My Point   (Saturday, 22 Dec 2007 17:08)

Marek is still in charge here and Diddler would be on the roof if he'd been Fiddler

>>By Lynn   (Saturday, 22 Dec 2007 22:10)

Okay then is Marek a Minnesota pickle? I think I saw that Fiddler movie and the chick in it had gigantic breasts. 800cc's minimum, would be my guess. Well off to bed!

Oh BTW: Is Andy still hiding from the Irish? Or is those Africans? Or who ever he runs from? And has anyone actually seen Andy write a book? Diddler?

>>By My Point   (Monday, 24 Dec 2007 09:35)

Andy's hiding from the critics, if he has any sense!
And of course his ghost writer won't come forward since the books are getting worse!

>>By Hank Diddler   (Tuesday, 25 Dec 2007 01:40)

Hmmm? Bo Diddley, I thought Cross Fire was quite fun. I' ve always loved a Kite Runner style read! Besides reading of Afghan streets and Taliban chases, equals good old fun.

I wonder how the peace knicks feel about Andy coming out against Water Boarding in Cross Fire? Lynn? Maybe past experience in those Iraqi Abu Grubby's changed Andy from his days in Northern Ireland when the SAS tortured Sin Fiens?

>>By My Point   (Tuesday, 25 Dec 2007 16:00)

He was critical about more things in Crossfire, I was pretty pleased with the book

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 26 Dec 2007 23:40)

Hank, you only get to critizise the book AFTER you're read it.

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 26 Dec 2007 23:42)

Lynn, cute! Never a nay word about your throbber! Keep it up honey

There are also new Randy McFabs (a McNab wannabe in case you haven't 'met' him before) for you to read... Last one is "Caucus Sucker" but one of my favorites is "Dying pet sounds", the one before that.
See http://mcfab.blogspot.com/

>>By Lynn   (Thursday, 27 Dec 2007 21:54)

First off, that Randy McFab crap sucks...I followed your link and puked...Then read it again, and sent some money to the author for no reason...But that's not the point.
Waterboarding...I've actually done that to someone--way back before it was popular, heard about it in one of the Marcinko books. And it wasn't that bad.
At least, wasn't that bad for me who was doing it. Not sure good info would have come out of it as it was meant for pure torture. The "victim" had no info I needed, it was punishment.
Based on what I saw, though...They say in the media that less than a minute is all it takes...When I did it it went on for nearly an hour, towel stretched over the dude's face and pouring water on it.
So maybe there's a different "waterboarding" that I don't know about it, but as I did I didn't think it was really that cruel.

You read this book too much Hank

And we should feel bad for the terrorist being Water Boarded, after all they have the same rights as us, so says Rosie and gang. I mean they are mothers and fathers too, so lets not be cruel to the sadistic bastard shall we.... Always side with goodie two shoes first. Righto mates?

Beside Hank, I doubt your little story is true, unless you were using a body appendage? Also, when I read the latest McFab shat it reminded me of a McNab novel, different story same plot, over and over. I really liked the work you did on the McFab, USMC spoof, sooooooo realistic.

Laughing!!!

Good to hear from you AIB :-)) Another year huh..

Happy 2008 !

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 2 Jan 2008 01:26)

>>Besides Hank, I doubt your little story is true...
You've missed your true calling. There's loads of police departments that would love to have your detective skills.
>>Also, when I read the latest McFab shat...
I think you mean "shit."
>>it reminded me of a McNab novel, different story same plot, over and over...
My God man! You noticed, after over 30 McFab stories, that they start with him in some stupid situation, then cut to him getting the phone call/assignment, then back to what he's doing, then they end with him and his mom looking back on the events of the story? Dude, the New York Times needs your insight! They could use a literary critic of your caliber.
>>I really liked the work you did on the McFab, USMC spoof, sooooooo realistic. ..
Yes, no one here would think portraying a Marine as an idiot is realistic...unless an ex-Marine decided to post and make an ass of himself repeatedly...But that hasn't happened, so I admit that that one Randy McFab story was meant to be funny rather than ultra-realistic. You caught me.
Mea Culpa and happy new year!

>>By Hank Diddler   (Wednesday, 2 Jan 2008 06:56)

Just noticed...My Point is without a blog temporarily...
The ranting here should stop as soon as his IT department figures out how to change a background color.

>>By Hank Diddler   (Wednesday, 2 Jan 2008 07:01)

I would ask you to marry me Hank....

And for the good news.......... a new McNab novel!! Title "Seven Troop"
Coming up this September.

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 2 Jan 2008 13:35)

Yes, Hank as soon as you started returning to the halls of My Point I knew it was time to die. Since you "two" in city are in love, I'll leave you be.

Lynn you must not be in the news, Hanks WELL spoken for!!! Now if those love birds could just figure out the complications that stand in the way? OH Hank I never told you..... F and U!

No sense having more word wars.....Hanks the best ever! Will that make you ego feel better, honey? As for Lynn....well good gholly....nothing comes to mind....

Happy hunting girls

>>By My Point   (Wednesday, 2 Jan 2008 16:23)

One I haven't run into before: In The Czech Republic they 'forgot' Robert Rigby regarding the first Boy Soldier book. Not sure if his name is inside the book, but it's certainly not on the front cover and I only found 1 site that mentions his name in details of the book. How odd.

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 2 Jan 2008 22:26)

Toronto? Ain't never been to no Toronto...

Belated holidays & a merry new year.
Btw - did you hear that they tried a PC version of holiday greetings in including Christmas and Hanukkah?
They ended up with "Hamas".... which was not the brigthest of ideas.
Oh, I only kid. There was never such a thing.... or was there? >;-)

May the M-19 confetti spray merrily upon our enemies. Just don't get nitroglycerine on your hands - you might need some Advil after a while...

>>By waterproof   (Monday, 7 Jan 2008 00:21)

Uh, I guess this is, like, insider SF talk Mr. Waterproof? Cool!

Anyhow, all ye gathered here must be looking for another genuine item author right? Let me introduce Mr. Dick Couch, former SEAL and privileged insider to this day. I wrote this eulogy after reading 'Silent Descent' and await more of his work with great anticipation, once it has crossed the Atlantic at least, seemingly by carrier pigeon.

"It was often said of Tom Clancy "how does he know all this stuff?" well one thing he clearly didn't know about was the role and function of Special Forces as they almost never appeared in his mainstream novels and I call the very poor 'Rainbow Six' as Exhibit A in defence of my assertion. And yet, Clancy is one of the most successful novelists of all time because he got most things right and told a brilliant story. Dick Couch can do these things too, his scene setting and character interaction are as good as any other, his plotting is immaculate and credible, but where he rises above all others, with the possible exception of Andy McNab and his ilk, is by the application of his intimate knowledge of special operations, the men and their mission capabilities. This of course is because he has been there, done it, and remains involved. His novels deserve to be up there with the best sellers. As for this particular tale, it has so much going on that a brief summary cannot do it justice, just read it."

>>By camban   (Monday, 7 Jan 2008 16:41)

Insider SF talk, camban? Hardly. :-) A result of sleep deprivation and boredom is more likely.
Nitroglycerine and Advil is just a (slightly inaccurate) reference/homeage to "Liberation Day" where Nick Stone describes the physical effects of handling plastic explosives.

As for Clancy, he's indeed well versed within the technical scope of military hardware. But the fact that he comments on military matters seated in an armchair (I'm sure he's geeky enough to have had it mil-spec'ed) rather than having stories on pages derive from a "been there, done that" experience might account for the sterility and lack of punch in his writing?

@ Toronto? Ain't never been to no Toronto...

Oops then, your profile picture must not be you. Shame on you, haven't you read the guidelines?

>>By Lynn   (Tuesday, 8 Jan 2008 14:30)

Update: Awesome video interview with Rob McGibbon. I like Rob. I like the videos.
It's in 4 parts and includes information about Nick Stone 'the movie' and a new Nick Stone adventure. Go check them out at:

Guidelines should exist to help the mediocre, and not be a hindrance to the resourceful...

If this turns out to be my last entry, you'll know which I adhere to... ;-)
In any event, good luck to all and keep enjoying the green literature.

>>By waterproof   (Tuesday, 8 Jan 2008 18:54)

I, too, googled a picture for my profile...
I'ze resourceful an' shit!
