And thats just AIB driving up and down "I-95" daily!!!

>>By Reighnman   (Saturday, 10 Jun 2006 18:19)

"Server cannot locate the requested page"

what was it about??

>>By Lynn   (Saturday, 10 Jun 2006 22:53)

Article is about some sort of Batman wings that SAS is testing so they can jump out of planes and glide for a long way before deploying parachutes and landing. Really a big yawn to anyone who has dove out of a jet, glided across the Channel, and landed in Calais. No big deal.
For those who awaited a podcast--serious technical issues are delaying my mixing it. There will be a podcast, but just as with GML there will be nothing until it's worthy of puttting our names on it. I know what the podcast should sound like, and I know what the next GML should look like. Neither is going up until they are absolutely as good as I can make them. Sorry to all who contribute and help with both, but that's just how it is.
In related news, some of our favorite F-Troopers will be contributing news items directly to GML (hopefully a day or so before they post 'em here). First new posts should be tomorrow or Monday. Stay tuned.

>>By Just Jon   (Sunday, 11 Jun 2006 01:11)

Well is good to hear all the news about the podcast on a f'ing msg board, instead of oh say personally. But we take any news as we get it huh? I guess news of fake kick boxing and war cartoons is more important first.

Yep just checked all communcation systems work, even my English lady friend emails responses faster. Thank God for nice days and warm weather.

I know what I want Andy to look like to, but I doubt he'll pay for the sex change. So as far as F-troopers contribution, whats different then what happens here already by the cut and paste queen?

See ya JJ

>>By Reighnman   (Sunday, 11 Jun 2006 03:55)

LOL @ I-95, Reighman! Yeah, right. Like I'd ever go that slow... ;o)

Lynn, don't know why that link doesn't work for you, unless it's cached in my pc or sumfink, cuz it worked when I tried it just now. Here's another way to get to articles about the Stealth Wings, including the article link I posted earlier:

display.php3?article_id=123046

Just Jon, still adhering to your Paul Masson/Orson Welles philosopy, eh? "sell no [ insert your project here ] before its time" ;o)

>>By am-i-binned   (Sunday, 11 Jun 2006 08:44)

No idea why it didn't work for me or my server but I've read it now. Sounds very SF but then in Science Fiction sort of way. One thing really made me wonder:
The wing is "almost undetectable by radar" ????? I'd say either you're detectable or your not ?!?
You are not 'almost' gay or 'almost' human ??
ohh pfffff scrap last remark - in case of JJ and Reighman it could very well be

I'll be in hiding for a week or so - sorry guys, I couldn't help myself being almost mean ;-)

>>By Lynn   (Sunday, 11 Jun 2006 14:44)

I for one am completely undetectable on gaydar.
DTO, ye of little faith...Check yer email. And thank the good Lord for bittorrent, because I had to download a couple of gigs worth of software before I found a prog that would run on my p.o.s. computer!

>>By Just Jon   (Sunday, 11 Jun 2006 14:56)

Gaydar ........LOL Jon!!

Think our Golden Earring should do a new version of their famous song... Gaydar Love.. :-))
Or would that be too Dutch ;-)

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 12 Jun 2006 22:46)

And I was looking forward to that week off??? One day...

With little fanfar and litlle bragging, "Greymansland" is fastly approaching the 100,000 hit mark!!

A heartfelt appaulause to our own Just Jon for the creation and up-keep. of Greymansland.com a site dedicated to the soul of Andy McNab fans around the globe.

THANKS JON!!!!!!

"I am still told by behind the scene reporters that big changes are coming to GML soon, still, so keep an eye out for that."

>>By Reighnman   (Wednesday, 14 Jun 2006 16:57)

A BTW: reminder to Andy himself.

Maybe a hello to this guy, Jon. I don't see anyone else promoting you other then yourself. If you only knew Andy the pains he's put forth for fans.

I guess its easier to ignore!!! Aye Andy!!

>>By Reighnman   (Wednesday, 14 Jun 2006 17:54)

R, asking AM to be grateful to Jon is the same as mowing your neighbours lawn by your own initiative and demand his gratitude for your act. Maybe the neighbour wanted to grow the lawn, burn the grass or whatever... If he does appreciate the mowing, that's great - but his gratitude is definitely not an earned right.

Jon is doing very much, very well and I love the site - and I love Jon for the things he does. Maybe AM likes it, maybe he's flattered. For all we know he hates it. And us too.
The site is a gift from a gifted Jon, with some help from fans and for anyone who wants to see and read the site. I think many who have visited the site appreciate it too. But as soon as a gift demands compensation it stops being a gift ;-)

>>By Lynn   (Wednesday, 14 Jun 2006 20:24)

Just want to say, Andy McNab doing the interview with us was all the payback I could want. Seriously, I sure as hell don't want him to pay me back for all the smart-assed comments I've made about him!

>>By Just Jon   (Thursday, 15 Jun 2006 08:22)

mmm, if we go by his book titles.. Payback followed by Avenger I'd be worried Jon ;-)

>>By Lynn   (Thursday, 15 Jun 2006 23:43)

Wow....F Troop..check this one!

Swedish Reader, would you mind helping with a bit of summarized translating please? :o)

As Mr. Reighnman pointed out elsewhere, the U.S. Army has raised its max enlistment age to 42 in a gesture reminiscent of Britian's steady lowering of recruit height requirements in WW1. If I'm not mistaken, and I am, they eventually got down to 4'9" before that one was over.
It's great news at any rate--the next logical step is to lower the minimum age to 12 so we'll have an even bigger pool from which to fill the Wermacht...uh...I mean Army.
At any rate, I think Reighnman and I should both enlist and give ya'll updates as we finish training, etc. It's either that or the mercenary circuit...

>>By Just Jon   (Saturday, 24 Jun 2006 01:33)

I am following Randy McFab route.

>>By Reighnman   (Sunday, 25 Jun 2006 17:13)

I was just re-reading "Andy McNab on self-defense" from Zoo magazine (and greymansland.com), and realized what strange advice he gives:
Short Blokes: "Get in low and be determined - especially as lots of these 'types' are jumped up little fuckers! Get him on the ground and smother him....."
No matter what the size of your opponent, if you can end up on top on the ground that's good, so I assume Andy means there is a special reason to do this with short people. Well, short people tend to weigh less, so actually standing and striking against a smaller opponent would make way more sense. Anyone who doesn't see this needs to be punched by a larger, heavier dude. In fact, THE WHOLE POINT of jiu-jitsu, etc., is for the smaller man to take it to the ground where the larger, stronger man can't use his strikes. Very odd.
Medium Types: "Get in low and tackle him. Stab him repeatedly in the face with a mobile phone, that'll really hurt the f*cker, especially if you have a mobile with a large arial"
That actually makes sense, though no one has had a mobile with a "large arial" since 1993.
Big Bastards: "...if he's running towards you grab an arm - the momentum will smash him into a neaby wall. If you have a newspaper roll it up and stab him in the face with it - that'll stop the bastard."
So I just grab an arm and all will be well. Thanks, Andy. And why do you assume there's a wall nearby? A big bastard is where you HAVE to get up close if you're to have a chance...That Andy advocates hitting him with a newspaper just goes to show that the SAS really doesn't fight hand-to-hand unless it's against drunk dudes in some Hereford pub.
I'm not some badass, but I've been in enough fights to know that everything Andy says on this is bullshit. The SAS trains in lethal hand-to-hand, but honestly they have guns and spend way more time on that. I have personally seen Rangers in a fight (I was on Rangers side), and found it funny how they tried to use all these military moves while the rednecks just beat the shit out of them. For the record, I was a coward, just got behind one of the rednecks and punched him in the kidney til he went down...But the fact remains...We're all supposed to be afraid to criticise the SAS to their faces, and honestly I don't know why. They should be afraid of Americans.

Yer man turned up on BBC2's 'This Week' programme last night discussing the poor state of Britain's armed forces, among other things. Difficult to concentrate on what he said though because his upper torso and head were replaced by multi-coloured, flashing squares, like a monster in an old horror film. Still a shy boy then, despite rumours to the contrary.

See it here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/

Thanks for the heads-up, Cam! :o)

Hey, Just Jon, any chance you could capture the video for GreyMansLand?

>>By am-i-binned   (Friday, 30 Jun 2006 21:14)

That sounded like a challenge, AIB, so...To watch the streaming vid, go to:
http://greymansland.com/andyonbbc.html
(the control bar's off to the side 'cuz I'm lazy).
To save it to watch locally, just go to
http://greymansland.com/andyinthewoods.rm
and save the file.
Sorry but it's Real Media only. I'm putting together a collection of vids for gml, so if anyone has urls's of videos they'd like to save but can't, let me know and I'll archive for us.
DISCLAIMER: Greymansland.com is an educational, not-for-profit endeavour, the purpose of which is to provide researchers and students with information about author Andy McNab. I believe the doctrine of "fair use" allows me to distribute copyrighted media for the express purpose of providing research material and preserving historical documents.

not been on for a while chaps and chapesses

re:

BlairisaHomo--What's your problem with American soldiers celebrating their victories? When you were in "green skin" and someone took out an enemy soldier, did you guys hug each other while you cried or did you just kind of dab each others' eyes with your lace hankies?

>>By Just Jon (Monday, 5 Jun 2006 09:18)

I doubt if blair is actaully a homo as he seems to have sired some offspring, however he is a tosser who has crawled so far up bushes backside that he probably cleans dubyas teeth from the inside, he is after all a politician and will do 110% to boost his own standing, finances and image and if that means sending the british forces out to die for more oil for wee Georgie Bu....er i mean worldpeace then obviously he will

no matey when the brits kill the enemy they don't whoop with joy or do a mexican wave, slap hands and go 'hoo ahh good buddy'
they just get on with the job in hand and if that means killing more then so be it....its called proffesionalism my friend...it aint the big arcaade game that some of the US troops think it is....

>>By BushisaManiac   (Saturday, 1 Jul 2006 21:36)

First off, homos can indeed sire offspring--how else can we explain your existence?
Secondly, I don't actually care about Brit politicians as nothing that happens on your island affects us. I was just making fun of your screen name.
Third, I happen to know for a fact that combat is exactly like a big arcade game, as I've played lots of Halo and the game itself is subtitled "combat evolved." Hell, that's technically one step beyond combat. I know all about war and deprivation--one time we were playing and ran out of beer half way through an eight-hour session, and we just kept going. So yeah, I could've been SAS. Don't ever tell a seasoned operator like me about combat!

Bushisamaniac--In the spirit of peace, I offer you this gift:
http://cryptome.org/mil-dead-iqw.htm
Something tells me you'll use this calendar the same way some men use the Penthouse calendar. Enjoy, and stop when you start to go blind.

>>By Just Jon   (Sunday, 2 Jul 2006 01:52)

Mr. Bush.....You need to update your numbers. Off a bit. Come on chap.

See ya mate, don't stray to close to the battlefield. Friendly fire is possible. Get it Mr. Bush?

>>By Reighnman   (Sunday, 2 Jul 2006 02:03)

You know, it's so easy to talk tough on the internet, I never realized it was possible to sound like a pussy while typing, and yet Bushisamaniac has managed. I commend you, oh uber-pussy. You've done what no other heterosexual male has managed to do.
