To me I am more impressed with the guy that itches to get out from behind the wire. Take Lt. Nate Fick, or Buzzell. Those guys have more life to offer then a guy afraid to show his face outside. Maybe, because it takes less inteligence, to be a grunt, then a spooky?
Oh yea my point, is Andy a sexual fantasy or are we impressed with his writing, or his abilty to take a beating?
I think I am more impressed with the hero's that stormed Normandy!
As for Jessie Ventura, that was real man!
>>By Reighnman (Sunday, 21 May 2006 02:40)
See you still haven't lost your grumpiness Reighman. Who are you asking whether he is a sexual fantasy? The guys or galls here? Or yourself?
Strictly answering for myself you can choose between: a) only on Tuesdays b) none of your business c) how about impressed with his ability (not) to write about sexual beatings d) it's hardly a compliment to the intelligence of the ladies here to ask such question
Now if you didn't know us for about 3 years or so... Ok, I'm grumpy too! ;-ppp
>>By Lynn (Sunday, 21 May 2006 13:47)
Reighnman did you enjoy reading Buzzels book? I liked it thought it was honest and also funny in places.
>>By Psicosis (Sunday, 21 May 2006 15:56)
YES , Pscosis, GREAT BOOK!!
And thanks to the best Camban for the recomendation sometime back. Cams the best at this stuff P. Go to AMFT and look at the almost 300 book reviews Cambans been giving us for free.
Lynn my dear, for you I'd pick A. Why you ask, very good question. Through our vast grapevine I've heard some backround about some ladies and there loves of the uniformed men. Or something like that. You on the other hand dear, will discuss on the still dead podcast when and if there is a number two offering. Maybe I just felt left out, honey!!!!

DOES THAT MEAN THAT NO CHATZY-CUM-GRAYMANSLAND FEATURE ON THE NEW SITE WHEN IT DONE...??
I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THERE WAS...
NICE TO BE BACK..

Well Chatzy seems to be back soon S2K, they say: "May 21 Update Our plan is to keep trying to get access to and restore our valuable data for yet another week. If we are not successfull, we will put Chatzy back online around June 1 without historic data. Customers who have paid for Chatzy Plus will be given a new chatroom with the full amount of space originally purchased. In addition, we will make Chatzy Plus free for everybody for at least one month after we get back online"
Left out? Right R, you're the Centre of my thoughts, really! ;-)
>>By Lynn (Sunday, 21 May 2006 21:11)
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU HEARD THINGS LIKE THAT FROM THEM.... LOL
I STILL THINK THAT IF THERE IS GOING TO BE A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO THE MAN HIMSELF, WHY NOT ADD A CHAT FEATURE... THEN THERE IS NO NEED TO DEPEND ON CHATZY ALL THE TIME....
JUST A THOUGHT

Great question S2K,
I'll let the webmaster/creator of Greymansland answer the question more throughly, but....... i'll say this ."As really cool as Just Jon and AIB are, these websites, including chatty ,cost large sums of dough ray meee. Nothings for free here in the USA
>>By Reighnman (Sunday, 21 May 2006 22:36)
Chat(zy?): I was just being a dick about chat, I am glad to see interest. Unfortunately, all the chat programs I and AIB have checked out pretty much suck, and Chatzy for all its faults is our best option. S2K--I've hesitated to put even a direct link to chat on greyman's just because we get quite a lot of hits now and not everyone who visits is an Andy fan. We would meet more people that way, though, so I'd like to hear opinions on whether whatever chat solution we end up with should be accessible on GML. Podcast: It IS coming, I've just got too many irons in the fire right now. Impressed with Delta/SEALs/SAS: I'm impressed with them, but I don't have the attraction to them that evolution has produced in women. I think the fact that any woman has ever called a guy with a black bar over half his face "sexy" says it all. UFC/Fony: I guess my point is, that wristlock you find in the U.S.M.C. close-combat manual is never gonna work against a trained fighter--hell, 90% of that shit won't work. It is great for street fights and probably taking out sentries, but a guy who fights for a living isn't gonna let you jab his eyes or grab his nuts. Just my opinion, and probably wrong since I've had my ass kicked by a Marine.
>>By Just Jon (Monday, 22 May 2006 05:42)
HEY... THIS POST MIGHT BE TAKEN OF, BUT. HERE I GO...
WHAT ABOUT GML HAVING SOME SORT OF FORUM...
THERE ARE MANY CONVOS GOING ON IN HERE AND WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY COUL HAVE THERE OWN BOARD.... JUST A THOUGHT, AND THE REASON IT MAY BE TAKEN OFF HERE, IS THERE WOULD BE VERY LITTLE NEED FOR GNOOKS..... SORRY
S2K
P.S. YOU SAY THAT A SF GUY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BEAT A "TRAINED FIGHTER"... $*** MAN, THE SF GUYS TRAIN LOADS FOR UNARMED COMBAT... NO???
>>By Shoot-To-Kill (Monday, 22 May 2006 12:25)
I'm attached to Gnooks S2K, I'd prefer JJ to spend his time on other features that aren't possible here.
I also agree with JJ about Chatzy.. Chatzy definitely costs some teeth-wrenching on a few matters....... BUT... there are a few things we think are important: It takes no downloading programs and it doesn't take registration by email - both make Chatzy very accessible and we've found that there are some people around who rather not be traceable which we like to respect. There seem no other chat programs around like Chatzy and 'best' means only 'there ain't nothing better at the moment' so... Of course if anyone around here can point us to something similar but better?
>>By Lynn (Monday, 22 May 2006 19:09)
YEAH LYNN, I SUPPOSE YOUR RIGHT... BUT I DO REMEMBER A FEW TIMES WHEN CHATZY HAS UNEXPECTEDLY GONE DOWN....
WHAT ABOUT SOME SORT OF IRC CHANNEL, WITH A JAVA APPLET TO USE IT.. ONLY PROBLEM WITH THESE AR THEY DONT SAVE CHAT HISTORY
JUST A THOUGHT

Well it seems as if Chatty is realing, now. New update says they are coming back soon.
I agree with Lynn, for once, that chatty seems to be the best chat service for our needs. I guess the frustration comes from the lack of access they provide to the webmasters. I've really never disliked them for the service they provide.
Other news, I hope not premature, the 1st podcast is complete, as Jon said it was not dead, and at this time looks to be ready in the next 48 hours or sooner. Andy will be proud of the podcast and we certainly will look forward to your comments. Keep looking at Grey Mans Land, for further info. Its done and in editorail process. And I must say very entertaining. Who wants to be the first guest?
>>By Reighnman (Tuesday, 23 May 2006 20:08)
Amost forgot...S2K: Spec Ops people spend time training on what their job is--shooting people. They're some of the best shooters in the world. They spend very little time on hand to hand, though, and most of the stories about what badasses they are in that respect come from them, and involve them beating up some random dude in a bar. Yeah, if you're trained to kill and practice that once a week, you can choke out some drunk dude. Yay. Go spar with one of those types, though, and you'll find that in a situation where all is equal, they stand around dumbfounded waiting to get you in that armbar they were taught. It's not a knock on them, it's just that they are trained to kill people, not fight them, and I think it's stupid that everyone thinks some SAS guy could step into the ring and box (or kickbox, or whatever).

*** The Grey Man ***
CHAPTER ONE The Bank, Ipswich Friday, 3 February 2006, 4.51 p.m.
FROM HIS DESK KEVIN looked through the glass security screen at the three men in long raincoats about to rob the bank. He could see the shapes of their sawn-off shotguns bulging out from under their coats. His heart started to beat faster, almost jumping out of his chest. Why hadn't anyone else noticed?
One robber stood at the credit point. He was going to make sure no one got in or out of the bank's main door once the robbery went down. Another was in the queue for Gary, the only clerk on duty at that time in the afternoon. He would hand a note to Gary that read, 'Put both hands where I can see them and call the manager. If not, you all die.' The third man, the leader, was reading a poster about bank loans. He was close to the security door that led to the staff side of the screen.
Kevin knew what would happen. Gary would call the manager and he would be told to open the security door. The gang leader would burst in and grab the cash while the other two controlled the customers and staff.
The plan was simple, quick and violent.

Uhmmm Lynn,
I know I am new here and all, but did you not see the snipet that I wrote on The Grey Man last week?
BTW: the blurb you posted has almost nothing to do with the book. But it sounds really fun for the publisher to sell the book. Kinda like me saying I am so good lookin that most women can't keep there hands off me. Yep, it's that lame.
In case you thought my review was poor, read Cambans at AMFT.
I will be reading Avenger for the Memorial weekend, so I should have some insults of the kiddie book early next week. Right now that Lee Child has rocked out a great new read. The Hard Way. Great, great, book.

McNab on video... it would be better if the Italian voice-over was quiet though ;-)
http://www.specwarfare.it/sito/multimedia/ video/Video3.htm
(Scroll down till you find McNab)

Old news but for those who missed it...G-g-g great great interview with you know, it's, Andy McNab and the-the-the Aussie radio...Not-not that he st-stammers... http://greymansland.com/andymcnabinterview.mp3 By the way, the "kill who we tell you to and we'll teach you to read" parts pretty funny to me...Andy, if you'll follow every order I give you, I'll teach you calculus. The Army's not special in doing that for you--I think most organizations would be happy with that trade-off.
>>By Just Jon (Wednesday, 24 May 2006 22:19)
Awesome Jon, now we don't depend on the site/link :-) Are you doing this with all radio interviews that are still on?
>>By Lynn (Wednesday, 24 May 2006 22:31)
>>Are you doing this with all radio interviews that are still on? Just until I get that "cease and desist" order... http://greymansland.com/Fuck the British Army.mp3
>>By Just Jon (Wednesday, 24 May 2006 23:53)
"just until"... ? Since you seem allergic to orders I'm not sure ;-)
Seems that Minette Walters is the winner of the Quick Reads project: First round - I didn't realise there was a 'contest' attached to it. Next round will include 'our' McNab. So where do we vote?? ;-)
J/k - "the voters were drawn from across different parts of the country" No idea why they had to have a 'winner' anyway - the message is strong enough: "reading matters, and it is never too late" Amen ;-)

I suspect this will be a hotspot once the podcast is listened to.
Many laughs will be shared at mine and Jons expense. Is that said right?
Thanks AIB, is the link at GML too? And I thought Chatty was coming right back?

For those who have the A&E channel...I watched a show called "Combat Diary: The Marines of Lima Company," and found it very moving. It's made up primarily of videos shot by the Marines themselves, some of whom were killed in action. Not exciting to watch like the SAS stuff, but it made me appreciate what those dudes go through in a way I never had before. Well worth viewing. Also found the Bravo Two Zero documentary mentioned a a page or two back. It does feature Andy (in shadow) and seems pretty good from what I've watched so far (45 seconds or so).
