Faaaaaaaaaaaaaackin 'ell, 266 pages. I guess I should read something by him.

Faaaaaaaaaackin'ell Flagg..you mean you haven't??? ;-))
Thanx for confirming 'the odd' FB, the story won't get a place in our AMFT archives - I mean there's odd and really really odd ;-)
>>By Lynn (Friday, 21 Apr 2006 23:08)
Jon.... would you ask Randy if he has attended any dinner with Mr.Roberts present? I mean...if there's ONE pretender around.... ;-)
>>By Lynn (Friday, 21 Apr 2006 23:11)
Checking those pages..... suddenly realised...I'm not sure page 26-28, it could be hardback, I've got paperback. So been reading on a bit... and noticed Lynn (the guy) telling Nick "We've got a fastball for you" hehe. Anyway.. in paperback it's a bit further along.. from page 32 it starts with "I'd been send to Saudi to encourage, then train some Northern Iraqi Kurds to kill three leading members of the......" - "all serial numbers had been erased to make them deniable" - "However, it had to be Russian kit that they were zapped with and it had to be deniable" - "It actually pissed me off tp have to kill them because I'd got to know these boys really well" etcetera...
Sheesh, its been way too long I read RC, and time's too short for all the things that need to be done, let alone to be 'redone' :-(
Speaking of the eyes... a bit before the Kurds stuff Nick Stone talks about Kev Brown having the most blueish Mel Gibson like eyes... so there's brown and blue mentioned. Does Nick Stone ever mention something about himself in such detail?? Since it's written in first person narrative it seems a bit odd to do that.... "the guy looked into my blue eyes" ... ??? Anyway.. I don't remember a color but like I said...it's been some years since I've read RC

Ah, damnit! I just set my Andy Mcnab action figure up against 16 Arabians, and Fastball goes and tells us it didn't happen. I'll tell ya Lynn, McFab's the only man of action you can trust!

Re: blue vs. brown -- once again, the Devil is in the details -- nice catch!
Remote Control (pg. 91, US paperback): "... I was behind her; both of us looking at each other in the mirror. Her light blue eyes were now not so red around the edges. That only made my brown ones even more dark and tired-looking. ..." (Nick preparing to dye Kelly's hair)
Liberation Day (pg. 17, US paperback): “… while we put on and adjusted the black-and-white-check shemags that would hide our faces when we hit the hut. I wouldn't be taking part directly because of my skin color and blue eyes. I would only come into the equation when the other two had located Zeralda. It wouldn't matter that he saw me. ..." (Nick preparing to infiltrate Zeralda’s compound)
Re: "McNab Reveals All in Exclusive Interview with P. W. Roberts”
Yeah, right. As if. Reading the full article, it sorta seems like Mr. Roberts might be a Canadian version of Michael Moore... ;o)
>>By am-i-binned (Sunday, 23 Apr 2006 15:53)
Hmmm....
Lost in Translation (or should I say, found?)...
Checking the UK version of Remote Control, pg. 105 reads: "... Her eyes were now not so red around the edges. That only made mine even more dark and tired-looking. ... "

Wow girl, I'm impressed! Uhhhhhm.....to continue your conspiracy theory....maybe the US version of RC was written ("translated") by Michael Moore? ;-)
>>By Lynn (Sunday, 23 Apr 2006 18:59)
Ohhhh wait, let me check the Dutch version :-))
HAHAHA....page 91 also in RC Dutch paperback.... "Maar mijn bruine (=brown) ogen leken daardoor nog vermoeider." BUT......this could be interpretation of the translator... 'dark and tired-looking' translated as eyes being brown !!
Liberation Day Dutch version, page 19 - ".....vanwege mijn huidskleur en blauwe (=blue) ogen."

Doing some 'overdue' work - it was already posted BBC is gonna make the Boy Soldier series..but here's the BBC article
MCNAB BEST-SELLER TO BECOME FILM The BBC is making Andy McNab's best-seller Boy Soldier into a film after securing the rights to the book. Its sequel Payback, also co-written with Robert Rigby, has been acquired as part of the deal.
The children's books are the first in a series of four about Danny and his struggle to join the army.
(...)
'Fantastic thriller'
After writing the non-fiction book Bravo Two Zero he then turned his hand to fiction, penning more than 10 novels.
He and writing partner Rigby are currently adapting Boy Soldier for the film version.
Rigby is a TV scriptwriter who most notably works on children's drama Byker Grove. Boy Soldier and Payback have sold more than 110,000 copies since they were published in 2005.
"We are delighted to be renewing our relationship with Andy after Bravo Two Zero," said David Thompson, head of BBC Films.
"Boy Soldier is both a fantastic thriller and a moving story of the relationship between a boy and his grandfather.

Another one:
BBC backs 'Boy Soldier' Andy McNab's action-packed bestseller will soon be hitting the big screen.
Andy McNab is a man's man – he was the most decorated soldier in the British Army when he finally left the SAS in 1993, and he went on to write about his experiences in testosterone-fuelled bestsellers like 'Bravo Two Zero' and 'Immediate Action'.
Unfortunately, being a slightly soft film geek, I haven't read any of Mr McNab's books, but I'm reliably informed that they are fantastic reads, and millions of you out there obviously agree.
So you'll be pleased to hear that two of McNab's books are heading for the big screen in the shape of 'Boy Soldier' and its sequel 'Payback'.
BBC Films have bought the rights to both books, and McNab and his co-writer Robert Rigby are currently hard at work on the screenplays.
(...)
Expect the film to go into production soon, and we'll bring you news of a director and cast as and when it breaks.

Cinematical.com writes:
BBC Films to Make Boy Soldier Posted Apr 2nd 2006 1:30PM by Martha Fischer
Andy McNab is the pseudonym used by a former British solider who, after writing the autobiographical Bravo Two Zero (which detailed a failed SAS mission during the first Gulf War and has had its veracity repeatedly questioned), began writing war-related fiction. His Boy Soldier series - aimed, like everything else these days, at "young adults" - currently consists of four books, and is wildly popular in the UK (only the first installment has been published in the US). And, since popular kids' series are like catnip to movie studios, it's no surprise that BBC Films have picked up the rights to the first two books (Boy Solder and Payback). The nice thing is that this particular series is uncommonly badass, considering that it was written for kids: The first novel, for example, is about a 17-year-old boy who is hell-bent on tracking down his (supposedly) traitorous, drug-dealing grandfather, a man the British government mistakenly believes is dead. Nice, huh? I mean, that sounds like a Bourne movie, except with some kid in place of Matt Damon.
McNab and his writing partner Robert Rigby (whose background is mainly in television) are currently working on adapting the first book, and a BBC Films spokesperson is describing the film as representing a new "commitment to mak[ing] more ambitious films for wider audiences." Whether that means it's something we're likely to see on this side of the Atlantic, however, remains to be seen.

F' it I'm with the illegals, taking Monday off to order the new books, in honor of Andy!!
Hey Nabber get a real life man, I see Boy Soldier 4, What the? Dude, get out from that PC and go quail hunting or something. Just put a donation icon up. The chicks love that stuff. You'll never have to write again. Just slowly remove pieces of your face from your blurred pic.
Now I am going to go and take an illegals job tommrow in a resturant garbage room to pay for all these books your writing....
Oh yea. AmazonUK, BoySoldier 4 (dont worry ladies he'll get a real title with a big gun on it) Oct 5 06, thats the same day as Connelly's.
>>By Reighnman (Sunday, 30 Apr 2006 22:40)
For something completely different... I've noticed Johnny "Two Combs" Howard last book (as far as I can find) was published in the year 2000 - anyone know what he's been doing after that??
>>By Lynn (Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:19)
You mean 'Direct Action' Lynn? I just happen to have a pristine copy available on my Amazon site, it's as good as any such tale, shame he didn't catch on as a writer. As for your question, I understand he has been out shopping for another comb.
>>By camban (Thursday, 4 May 2006 15:41)
hey all, just thought i'd make a quick pop up and go comment, watched the latest episode of the new ultimate force series and hopefully if they get rid of the girl and bloody grant mitchel it should become quite good. slightly better than last series but it needs someone with a clue. also i've been watching a series called the unit about sfod, and it is quite good first episode was lacking but they have made up for it since. and i hate saying this but the yanks have come up with a better series than the brits about sf life. hmmm that hurt to say. well be back soon and adios.
>>By fony (Thursday, 4 May 2006 20:36)
Agree fony, THE UNIT is quite possibly the best show on TV.
Good to see ya mate, fony, dont be a stranger, bro. Your wisdom is necasary.
Also a show worth mention is on discovery, FUTURE WEOPONS... nasty stuff for the towel wearers.
Any Andre Braugher fans out there.
To make mention of a possible deletion, Grey Man and the kid book on its way.
>>By Reighnman (Friday, 5 May 2006 07:02)
Damnit Reighnman, I was just talking to a friend the other day about how I dreaded the prospect of "Future Weapons" being mentioned on this board. I guess the cat's out of the bag now, so please ladies, go ahead and get out all of your "Richard Machowitz is soooo dreamy" stuff in the next few pages or so and email me when you're finished.

Great Lynn-- that's just what I need, to unleash the warrior within. BTW, a friend of mine said he saw a good special about B20 on the military channel (yes, warfare is entertaining enough to warrant a channel). Apparently it featured Andy (in shadow of course) and was well-made. Anyone else seen this? I'll provide more info once my mate burns it for me.
>>By Just Jon (Sunday, 7 May 2006 12:46)
you're gonna spread the ashes? ;-) There's no military channel here as far as I know - sorry
>>By Lynn (Sunday, 7 May 2006 17:28)
If it's the same program I think it is ("Bravo Two Zero: Behind Iraqi Lines"), I may have it on video tape, Just Jon. I'll check and get back to you. Hang on a mo, tho! If I do have it, do you think there's a chance of maybe using your technical wizardry to make it available via greymansland? ;o)
Sadly, the program links posted here (pg 38, Th, 12 Jun 2003) are no longer viable, nor are the links to the post-program chats with AM and CR that come up in a search on The History Channel's site. :o(
>>By am-i-binned (Sunday, 7 May 2006 18:31)
A quick aside, for those who frequent "AM Chatter" on Chatzy:
The chatroom seems to be out of commission, as of last night and this morning, anyway. Here's hoping it's restored quickly and that it's not down because of them uploading any more "new and improved" features, seeing as how I'm still pretty pissy about their last unannounced "upgrades"...
grrrrrrrr.....
