ah and there we go to page 247. Almost party time ;-)
>>By Lynn (Monday, 27 Jun 2005 14:03)
Jon man, you are virgin on genius! That McFab blogspot should be made into a TV series, or at least a book, then you could publish some of your brilliant lists. I want more!
>>By camban (Monday, 27 Jun 2005 15:28)
Uhmmm, Jon G Gordon Liddy is to liberal. Any conservative already realizes this.
See ya Friday AIB and John, I think I was greenlighted for a free day with you guys so I donn't have to go to the outlet shops!!!! YEEEEEY
>>By Broker (Tuesday, 28 Jun 2005 00:02)
Thank you so much for the positive feedback regarding McFab! Lynn and Cam always appreciate good humor, so, I'm "chuffed as fuck," as Andy would say, to hear they enjoy it. As for Broker, he'd think Pol Pot was too liberal, so don't listen to him, hehe. As for free day, good news. We can commence the second annual F-Troop get-together with a trip to the firing range followed by a drunken orgy of violence in one of the many Irish pubs Philly has to offer. Then again, we could just do lunch and talk about Andy McNab...
>>By Just Jon (Tuesday, 28 Jun 2005 04:19)
Darn, another orgy I'm missing. Who's McNab ?
>>By Lynn (Tuesday, 28 Jun 2005 08:58)

>>By camban (Friday, 1 Jul 2005 11:37)
nice to see you have all still got no sense of reality.
>>By fony (Saturday, 2 Jul 2005 10:28)
Yeah life is great !! :-))
>>By Ninjawoman (Saturday, 2 Jul 2005 17:16)
Good report Camben (Boy Soldier)< Fun little read. Now how do I get my teen girl to read it? I've done all but jam it in her face. To busy waiting for that little wizard boy in a couple of weeks.
>>By Broker (Saturday, 2 Jul 2005 17:21)
Hell yeah we got no sense of reality, bro! Though...this reality sucks...I flew to an FTroop gathering, and I'm sittin here alone in the business center of my hotel, on the internet...could have done this from home...laaaaaaaame...
>>By Just Jon (Saturday, 2 Jul 2005 18:49)
Is Michael Stipe of REM in breach of a McNab copyright?
>>By camban (Monday, 4 Jul 2005 11:53)
He sang at last light on liberation day with a deep black voice about an aggressor who lost his rc during a dark winter???? What what??
>>By Lynn (Monday, 4 Jul 2005 13:38)
ok, I'm probably one of the 4 people who saw only like 5 min of Live 8 but running into a picture now... guessing.... the eyes?
>>By Lynn (Monday, 4 Jul 2005 13:53)
Lynn wins the cigar! But I'll smoke it for her. I think most of the Western world saw Live 8 though! Do you think Andy should sue for misappropriation of his image?
>>By camban (Monday, 4 Jul 2005 16:07)
Please don't use "McNab" and "sue" in the same sentence. Makes me nervous. Happy Independence Day, mah feller Amuhrikins.
>>By Just Jon (Monday, 4 Jul 2005 16:15)
hiya all, whats new? its been a while, and i have at last got a copy of deep black, still reading it. is there another book after this one?
>>By deniable-kay (Tuesday, 5 Jul 2005 22:12)
New novel on the way this November, D-K. I'm in the process of setting up an internet page where all of Andy's books can be tracked down--flork me for immediate details or, if you're the patient type, give me a couple of days and I'll post the link here. The new one's called "Aggressor" and it's shaping up to be one of McNab's best. In other news, I've made it back to the north Georgia mountains from Sodom (er, I mean, Philly), after meeting fellow F-Troopers for the second time, and was once again impressed with how freaking cool we are compared to non-McNab fans, who are pretty much universally lame. We, the Andy McNab Fan Club and Tar and Feathering Commitee, enjoyed a baseball game, notable for the ass-kicking the Atlanta Braves handed the Phillies and the "secret message" some claim they saw on a certain scoreboard. We also visited Independence Hall, where a bunch of rich Yanks once gathered to drink beer and proclaim their independence from their limey masters. We couldn't actually enter the building, as Homeland Security was everywhere and one of us has some ongoing issues with INTERPOL. Not to be discouraged, F-Troop boldly sought out the Liberty Bell, which, as anyone who has purchased products made in the U.K. could guess, is damaged (in defense of the U.K., I must add that the bell was manufactured before the novel American concept of NOT getting completely shit-faced on one's lunch break garnered world-wide attention). Sadly, we couldn't see the Liberty Bell, either, as there was a line and we're freakin' lazy. We did, however, see both the USS New Jersey, the massive guns of which made me question my own adequacy, and the USS Cole, a ship we're strangely proud of for being rammed with HE. I think we all agreed that Andy McNab could sink that fucker if he wanted to. Not that he'd want to. Am-I-Binned was a great tour guide, as usual, and Broker introduced me to an awesome writer, Stephen Hunter. All in all, it was great fun, but would have been better had more of ya'll been there. Majorette, for one, was sorely missed. It's strange to me how folks who dig McNab, even though they may be totally different in so many ways, seem to have so much in common. It's wonderful when we get together, and I hope we can soon plan a party for Yanks and Euros alike. Christ, what a long post. Sorry. Jon.
>>By Just Jon (Wednesday, 6 Jul 2005 01:47)
No "sorry" necessary, Just Jon! Long posts are a long-standing tradition on this board... :o)
Ditto all of JJ's sentiments regarding AM folks! As I've repeated so many times before, I may owe AM thanks for his books, but I owe him even more for the exceptional circle of friends he's drawn together FOR ME. (Okay, so maybe he didn't exactly set out to do that just for me, but, heck, it's my delusion and I'm sticking to it!)
It was absolutely great having DTO and his beautiful family here, but sadly their stay was much shorter than originally planned due to what Randy McFab suspects to be subversive sabotage (DTO was having suspicious transmission problems with his van). And Jon was, as ever, a hoot-and-a-half! Until Jon pointed it out to me, I had absolutely no idea that Philadelphia was so dangerous -- death-trap side streets; terrorist-cell row homes; street performers stalking us; traffic-control CCT's trained on our vehicles; the Gazella, a tall ship docked within easy OP distance of both the Cole and the New Jersey, its masts actually radio-transmission towers in disguise -- either that or Jon's been hanging out with McFab a bit too much! ;o)
Oh, by the way, the "secret message" was: Read Andy McNab! F Troop RV2.
Any suggestions for RV3? Maybe an Eagles' football game in their new stadium? I understand they have even bigger messageboards... ;o)

sounds like a good time
>>By deniable-kay (Wednesday, 6 Jul 2005 22:33)
Sorry I missed the get-together, Just-Jon.... I had a great time at the last one. I know I've been out of sight for a while, but that's because it's hard work "cloning" oneself. I should be done in the next two weeks, though, and hopefully will be back online shortly after that.

On a very serious note, I saw the news from London this morning as I woke up. My thoughts go out to our British cousins today. If you can, please let us know that you are all okay.......
>>By Majorette (Thursday, 7 Jul 2005 13:56)
I too would like to express my sympathy and absolute support for our British friends on this tragic day. I also want to make clear my admiration for the way the people of London and indeed Mayor Livingstone, with his eloquent words, have faced this cruel attack. I've no doubt whatsoever that Londoners will return to "business as usual" as soon as is humanly possible, as the British resolve has been put to harsher tests than this and has never wavered. I do hope those of you who we know to be in or around London will let us know you're okay.
>>By Just Jon (Thursday, 7 Jul 2005 16:18)
Today is a Sad day for us Brits, and londoners in particular, My prayers are with all thos londoners and their families who may ahve been affected by this... Kevin Livingstone gave a very moving speech, My Dad was a londoner he went through the Blitz and he said one thing about us Brits is we stick together....Like Jon said we have been through harder times and showed courage and resolve and we stood firm never wavered and today we all stand as one nation and we stand proud and defiant you will never take our freedom away from us, this lil island has earned its freedom.. We Brits are a proud nation and we today all stand united, hand in hand... Our prayers and well wishes again to the wonderful emergency services for what they are doing to hospital staff, to the chaplins and the those ordinary people who just bring comfort ..God Bless you and God Bless this great country of ours.
>>By brianBJJ (Thursday, 7 Jul 2005 16:57)
i am a londoner, and am shocked by the events today, i luckily was no where near the incidents. my thoughts go out to the friends and families of those involved. True to form us Brits showed our strentgh and dealt with it professionally, i must say how well our emergency teams dealt with the events. Hope everyone is ok
>>By deniable-kay (Thursday, 7 Jul 2005 22:05)
Now then all, have been missing for a while but am back to add my little contributions to the boards :)
Being from the UK we have been inundated with the events in london on Thursday and have all read the papers & seen the pictures but surely I am not the only one who new it would happen sooner or later, the only thing I am thankful for is that it wasn't on a grander scale! I feel sorry for those that lost loved ones & those that were injured as they are the innocent victims of cowards!
I only know from the media how strict the US is nowadays but it may be the wake up call we need in the uk to stop this namby pamby attitude towards Islamic Extremists, I mean come on if 4 or was it 5 people are held at Guantanamo Bay for a few years it's hardly a bright idea to let them roam the country cos someone feels it was a breach of their human rights!? Im quite sure the US intelligence was good enough reason to take them there in the 1st place only for good 'ole Tony 'Poodle' Blair to start his mercy mission and let them roam free even though the US said they STILL posed a credible threat to the west.
Whilst Thursdays incident may not have been anything at all to do with any of these guys, I can't help but think we have to take some of the responsibilty for letting these types of people in and doing nothing to those that preach hatred towards the west from our own back yard!
Now back to McNab...
I got my usual signed addition of Boy Soldier and just like his others, I picked it up & never put it down until I had gone from back to front! Why & how does McNab do it, I mean come on how many of you find it easy to start his book and not actually finish it in the same day?
If that was aimed at teenagers then I'm happy to be put in that bracket again, it's a while since I was :D
Brilliant storyline and a shame it was short in comparison to the Nick Stone saga's but it now gives us an extra adventure to look forward to... I am however wishing November was sooner to get my copy of the latest Nick Stone addition but I must keep my collection going & will have to pay through the nose no doubt for a signed copy, let's be honest having a full set of First Edition Signed McNab books is a great showpiece in anyones bookcase!!
I have a feeling though that this one may contain some kind of revenge on Stones superiors from earlier books, those he feels were perhaps partly responsible for certain tragic events (don't want to say somethings in case people haven't got as far as others) & now may be the time to do that... just a thought..
Anyway I have gone on long enough now so Im goin to sleep and like you all, will spend the next 114/115 days counting down to Aggressor!!

Well, good day to you all.
Jolly hot here at the moment, christ Lynn I've had to do a full day's work today you know !
How is everybody : me little ol' Lisle, Lynn, aib, ninja, Jon Boy etc etc. Been a while but I thought I'd start chatting up people again. Jon Boy, how's it hanging, as we say ?
Was in London on Thursday with some Guards friends at Regent's Park. Heard the explosions from there. Also went past Russell Square (an explosion point) and was quite moved and totally saddened. Thought of my time in NI in the 80's and it's similarities. Shocking. Speaking to some police officer friends, the earlier posting was quite right - it was only a matter of time before something happened, not if but when. What made the whole situation even more sad was the numerous islamic londoners who were visibly distraught. I personally very much feel for them as they are, like they are worldwide, kind, warm and peaceful where just a minority of extremist islamics bring so much disgrace to their whole way of life. Islam literally means peace and we must be careful not to judge the people of the islam faith as being in comparison to minority extremist fanatics who do not represent such islamic faith. It's the same story in Iraq where I have just returned from. The minority extremists carrying out atrocities are not the Iraqi people, of which incidently are the main targets of these fanatics and not the US/UK soldiers - though these are targeted at times. The Iraqi people hate these fanatics. The Islamic population in the UK hate the terrorists who instigated the atrocities in London. We live in a rather peculiar world where people are easily manipulated by events or other people. Most muslims in the UK who were protesting actively against the Iraq conflict, though of Islamic faith themselves, never have actually been to Iraq and do not understand the broader picture. Their views and of others are factually not shared by the majority of the Iraqi citizens. The problem with Islam, like NI, is that through inter-generational conflict, many have grown up listening to their parents or grandparents about a particular conflict, taken sides without actually experiencing themselves any injury, loss or hardship from the so-called opposing side. It's a very similar story in NI where many IRA terrorists have never themselves experienced any problems with the British. It's just what they have been brought up with. It has been proven that many of the Islamic extremists (terrorists) of today are of similar up-bringing and indoctrination by radical individuals. Such false beliefs are part of the crux of the problem which needs to be dealt with.
Anyway, apologies for the long one. I guess I take a leaf out of Jon's book.
PS Out of curiosity, can anyone explain why AM and CR's books of the same title come in different illustrated covers. Not sure if you "foreigners" experience this but here in the UK it's very common.
With regards,
Reg
>>By Reginald (Monday, 11 Jul 2005 19:01)
Ah Reg m'dear, work all day.. while I've had a day full of.. nothing!! But don't worry, my turn tomorrow.. and day after tomorrow.. and day after after... well you get it ;-)
It's not just AM's and CR's of course - but probably lots of reasons for different covers. First of all the hard- and paperback are often with different covers. New edition..new cover. The book in a series of (often similar) books. Change of publishing house. Audio. And then there are the translated versions. What surprised ME is that there's even difference in content (grrrrrrrrrrrr still sore point) in (same) books. Like the Dutch (that's the one I know.. could be other translations) has 4-5 pages 'missing' in Remote Control. And don't even begin to talk about titles ! I mean.. Remote Control in Dutch became 'Total Control'. Why ?? I could be wrong but last time I spoke Dutch 'total' and 'control' were both not Dutch words. So... change it into something Dutch or keep the original title. Any more foreigners here who know of daft translations of the original titles??
Oh and PS Reg, do not forget to read Randy McFab!! You'll love it !! http://mcfab.blogspot.com/
>>By Lynn (Monday, 11 Jul 2005 19:38)
REG !! Welcome back mate, things have been quiet without you in Chatzy. But what a way to come back home ha ? Dirty business and it won't be over soon either. You are making a very good point about the Islamic people that are among us.
Again, glad to see you safe and sound, talk soon I hope.
