Also, no copies of 'The Bomb Surgeon' have been delivered as I wrongly stated to some, sorry 'bout that. Agree with you Jon about DF's friendly and open approach, quite unusual among authors, and very refreshing. Don't think he is in any one place long enough to arrange a book signing tho.

>>By Ninjawoman (Thursday, 1 Sep 2005 22:56)
Awesome, Ninj! I'd think of a question, but I'm sure ya'll can do much better. Can't wait to see the Q&A.
>>By Just Jon (Friday, 2 Sep 2005 14:33)
Sources say Bomb Surgeon will be transformed in "The Operative" Can anyone confirm?
What's a title anyway.. the content will be the same. Hopefully.
>>By Lynn (Friday, 2 Sep 2005 18:39)
Had a letter from a beautiful red head today asking for my help and coming up with ten questions to help her friend Ninjy. So here are some questions. For DF
1. How do you begin the process of writing a book?
2.When you structure a story how many drafts do you write before having something that you feel you can submit?
3, You seem to have a good ground base of loyal fans, how do you feel about say the DF fan club on say gnooks and their loyal support of your work?
4. Are you only going to write millitary fiction or would you like to write a swashbuckling romantic pirate book.?
5. What is the process in writing a novel do you , what time do you start and how long will it take you on average to sit and write a book.?
6. All the Girls on Gnooks duncan Falconer are huge fans any chance of some signed photos for them, to put by the bedside reading?
7.One of my friends is a huge computer fan and would love to know wouldnt you Lisle do you use a apple mac or a pc to write..? OH and she thinks your wonderful . (though she likes Chris a lil better)
8. Why was The Bomb Surgeon taking off the shelves a smost here had pre ordered it and hwre heart broken when they didnt get their copies. was it because of teh current politcal climate ?
9. Do you read other ex specail forces authors like Andy mcnab or chris Ryan? and if so wahts your favourite non fiction by them.
10.. If the all your female fans on flofk invited you to dinner with them and got a few good bottles of red wine in and Lisle baked one of her pies even wore a pinny would you come to dinner? Oh well just a thought
ok ninjy hope some of these help bri
>>By brianBJJ (Saturday, 3 Sep 2005 03:13)
* coughs * nice one Bri. Tell you what, if DF turns down the offer to dinner we take you instead, ok?
Another source says publisher used search&replace feature, changing 'bomb' into 'love' Not certain about reliability of this source nor did I get this confirmed anywhere. But it would definitely make Stratton a happy fella.

Hello Mr. Falconer,
I did not feel like Florking Ninja, (headache)but here is a couple of questions. Granted other then your wonderful newsletter I have never read a lick of one of your books. Since I have heard so many great things about you, I will soon change that. Ok, and Just Jon said you are a solid dude. And Ninja is your 4th favorite fan in the world. I don't really know who is ahead of her I just think there are at least 3 more favorite fans a ahead of her.
1. You seem to rather busy hop-scotching around hell holes of the world. Where do find the time to write?
2. Why do you seem to respect your book buyers and fans with so much care? Other Ass-kickers in you elk, don't seem to care if there books are read or sold? So thanks for that.
3. Iraq, The anti-war crowd is out in force around the world. Justified or have they lost focus on the ultimate mission?
4. Since you seem to like your fans so much, don't you think Just Jon should run your website? That way hey can have more to do and you can him keep in line.
5. Ok, there is an American football game to be played this week. The teams are made up from SBS on one team, and SAS on the other. Who wins, and whats the score?
Thanks so much, I am fan number 468! and rising

6. Randy Mcfab is trying hard for employment. Is ther anything you can do to help him? He is a big fan of yours and I am sure wil lfollow orders. Even if it shining your shoes and doing your wash, and other such jobs. Please help!!!
Thanks

DF has a professional web site, done by a very talented (and really cool) designer. You must understand, Broker, my McNab site is a "fan" site, so I can do things that a pro site can't, but at the same time my site in no way represents what McNab may want out there. With DF's site, it represents how he wants to portray himself, etc. Some prefer pro sites, some prefer fan sites. The best thing about having a fan site is--I can promote DF's stuff on an Andy McNab site! I think everybody's happiest this way (with the possible exception of Andy, who's probably begging DF's designer to do a site for him as we speak!).
>>By Just Jon (Sunday, 4 Sep 2005 23:54)
No need to sell yourself short Jon, your site is great and has loads more info. but on the other hand, the DF site has a newsletter section .. and yes .. there is a newest of the newsletter posted there. If the grammer sucks, too bad I just read it and it is wonderfull done yet again. Cheers DF and pro-site owner.
p.s. still time for leaving some interessting questions at my flork mailbox...
>>By Ninjawoman (Monday, 5 Sep 2005 17:26)
There's more to it than just the fact that DF contributes to the site...The DF site is his professional calling card on the web. So, no, the web guy can't insert himself into it and be a smart ass all the time like I do on my site. To be honest, my McNab site is just as much about me as it is Andy McNab--some like that, some hate that, but it definitely wouldn't work as Andy's "official" site. DF was smart enough to have a pro site done--Andy relied on Transworld and (lol)Traser, and look what he got. Even from a "techy" point of view, I have freedoms that a pro site does not--I can tell anyone who uses 800x600 resolution to go to hell, for instance, and it doesn't matter. I can demand you have the latest CSS-compliant browser...Again, a pro site can't. I know the designer of the DF site, and he does what he does for a reason. He does NOT need my advice. I actually have begged him for advice on Flash, but he's too busy to give me pointers because he actually makes a living doing design, which I am now failing to do. Do I think he's better? No. We're comparing apples to oranges, and even with my pro sites my approach is different. I'm a huge web-standards guy, I'm in love with CSS...he isn't. Doesn't mean I'm better, means we're different, and if you were hiring one of us, the best choice would depend on what you needed. This may not be the place for philosophical discussions of web design, but I didn't bring it up. I ask all my friends to understand that all of us web guys are trying to deliver the best content we can, and we're not rivals, we're helping each other out.

So not using any of my questions thats ok and well i'm too busy writing mine
>>By brianBJJ (Tuesday, 6 Sep 2005 20:42)

Ok, the red nose and shoes were funny - but having a bit of mixed feelings about the Abdy thing. I'm sure I'll be the only one - duh.
>>By Lynn (Saturday, 17 Sep 2005 22:06)
Why the mixed feelings Lynn? Abdy is clearly a well drawn idiot but very good spirited of DF not to sack him I think. But such beautiful humour in a terrible place, why does he stay there?
>>By camban (Monday, 19 Sep 2005 15:42)
<....why does he stay there?>
Cause they pay him to.
>>By spiketheprovo (Monday, 19 Sep 2005 19:11)
