Got a reply from DF to my email asking if he was OK, he is now in the African bush researching a book he wants to write and says that the drums are not connected to the internet, so that's OK then.

>>By camban   (Monday, 18 Jul 2005 11:37)

I'm thinking of going to holland for my 43 birthday in a few weeks time, i'm told amsterdam is a nice place and they have like wonderful musuems and you can visit these wonderful canals etc. They say its a very quiet city so i will take a few books with me to read on those nights in.

Special forces turn sights from Iraq to hunt terrorists in Britain

BRITAIN’S special forces commanders have temporarily switched the main thrust of their attention from Iraq and Afghanistan to hunting down suspected terrorists at home.

(.....)

Members of the SBS have worked alongside Home Office officials on exercises at key ports to try to spot security problems. One exercise scenario involved suicide bombers hijacking an oil tanker which they aimed to blow up in a port.

>>By Ninjawoman   (Sunday, 21 Aug 2005 22:23)

>>By brianBJJ   (Wednesday, 24 Aug 2005 22:47)

I suspect a banana bar is where naughty ladies do interesting things with pieces of fruit? The riddle of the missing 'Bomb Surgeon' continues, as of today, Amazon say they don't know either but will let me know when they know, then I will let you know, OK?

>>By camban   (Thursday, 25 Aug 2005 11:43)

Went to Smiths today aug 25th and they said its not out now till OCt 5th so no new novel till then it seems.

>>By brianBJJ   (Thursday, 25 Aug 2005 18:46)

Got a response today from Amazon, they say 4 to 6 weeks, but DF says it will not now be published until April because it's been promoted to hard back (don't like hard backs, too awkward to hold!) and the publishers want to change the title after the London bombings, silly sensitive souls that they are. Odd how some copies seem to have been sent out already though, could be that they only sent them to non-UK buyers?

>>By camban   (Friday, 26 Aug 2005 11:51)

ooh, Ninj would have loved that! But she's biting her nails, waiting for so long and nothing yet. I am patiently waiting though.

A Banana bar is for kids really, only available drink is non-alcoholic banana drinks and shakes and the bartender looks like this... (see second from right) http://www.dole5aday.com/Teachers/
ClassroomResources/Instructional/
TeacherAwards/Images/2004_21.jpg

*coughs*

<<Odd how some copies seem to have been sent out already though, could be that they only sent them to non-UK buyers?>>

I don't know about that..... a quick search of the Bomb Surgeon's isbn # on addall.com gave several paperback copies for sale. All of them were dealers in the UK.

I'll bide my time as I haven't read the first few yet and the UK shipping kills me, but y'all over the pond might want to snap them up. Especially if they're gonna change the title.....

>>By Majorette   (Friday, 26 Aug 2005 17:32)

Ok people, AM's page is up to 250... only 246 to go !! Need some help with that people so spread hte word that DF is great. I know some of you already do that but we can always use more people here..

>>By Ninjawoman   (Sunday, 28 Aug 2005 23:38)

Uhm Ninj.... why can't I find an interview with DF? Do you reckon if we promise to start going to 250 here too, he'd too be willing to do a
Q &A on his website ?
We provide the questions... DF decides which will be answered and 'published' - excellent promo!!

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 29 Aug 2005 17:32)

PS I'm sure no one will realise we 'set up' this convo ;-))

>>By Lynn   (Monday, 29 Aug 2005 17:32)

Oh Lynn what a great idea, let's ask him on his website ! * do you hear me talking like i am on a tv shop channel ?*
Then agian, there are other way ........ * cue erie music*

>>By Ninjawoman   (Monday, 29 Aug 2005 23:08)

DF might just do that--he sure as hell knows how to build loyal fans. I've said it before, but it's worth repeating--his honesty, character, and thoughtful regard for civvies like us is unique. I'd really like to look into getting autographed copies of his books, if anyone sets up a signing like we did with AM, for God's sake make sure I hear about it.
