I have read She's Come Undone five times: Twice in Finnish, twice in English and once in Swedish. Every time I sort of fool myself to think I'm reading it for the first time. I just need to read it over & over again... Such a brilliant novel! I didn't know it was possible for a man to write so convincinly from a woman's perspective! Ps. I just hope the film version will not be molasted by Reese Witherspoon playing Dolores!

omg, reese witherspoon? NO! she won't, no CAN'T do delores justice. I like her (reese) as an actress don't get me wrong, but i don't think i'd care for her as delores. also, i'm reading can't keep it to myself and love it. i've had to buy 2 copies of each of his books becuase i read them so much the fall apart. LOL. i'm eager to soak up all i can about WL, does anyone know if he's in any antholigies or compilations with other authors? even a short story from him would be nice. i've been on edge waiting for his new books forever. wish he'd put some more out.

WL has a short non-fiction piece titled, "Food and Fatalism," in a recently released anthology composed of "family of origin stories" written by Italian-American writers.
Also included in the book are stories by other famous people like Ray Romano and Jay Leno. It's a pretty good book, and of course WL's story is an interesting one.
The book's title is: Don't Tell Mama: the Book of Italian-American Writing. The ISBN is 014200247. It's a paperback, so inexpensive too!

He has also had short stories published in magazines such as New York Times. I believe he also had stories published in smaller magazines in his hometown. They are very hard to fine, but if you love Wally lamb it might be worth it.

I was disappointed when I learned that his new book was a compilation of writings by women prisons. It's great for them, and
I am sure it will be interesting and maybe helpful to others, but I was looking forward to a book by Wally Lamb. Maybe it's a good thing that there hasn't been another in so long, good takes time, and he is always great. I don't know how he can write about women the way he does, when I read 'She's come undone" I kept looking to make sure it WAS really written by a man.

I just received a copy of "I'll Fly Away: further testimonies from the women of York prison", just a small bit into it. I'd read "Couldn't keep it to myself', which I loved, especially the humorous one from Robin C about Christmas in prison. I think this new book promises to be as interesting.. so far it is... esp. a short story from Brendalis who had written "Hell and how I got here" in the last book. This new story tells of an instance where she is young and left in her sister's care, when the sister takes off on her... it's a very, very sad story, left me sitting here crying... another story from a woman who'd had a very, very bad uncle, that story left me sitting here sobbing... so far this is an incredible book. Anyone else reading it yet, or read it? Just before I got this book, BTW, I bought "She's Come Undone", had just started reading it when my new book arrived, so I interrupted the first book with this one (I do that a lot LOL have many books I put aside to read others that capture my interest on that day, I'm sure I'm not alone! :) Anyone out there read or reading or read this new book?
