yeah that's pretty gross. we should go to the Linkin Park discussion and start a thread on T.S. Eliot. at least it won't be lonely.

To me it's a poem about aging, and a good one at that. Don't know what specifics you may or may not want.

"Love song of Alfred J Pufrock" is a very expressive poem of Eliot.

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go" T.S Elliot

I am finding this quote of his very inspirational at this point in my life

Eliot is in a category by himself. He is included in High Modernism when literature was growing upward in intellect. Foreign languages and cultures were inserted into text after WW II had left its mark on the world. Ezra Pound had a lot to do with Eliot's progression and was a friend and consultant in Eliot's writings.

I just had my very first T.S. Elliot experience recently. It made me feel stupid and forced me to realize that I haven't taken nearly enough time in my life to appreciate poetry. Honestly, I was more confused than anything-but that is a result of being poetry deprived in my schooling. Is there any other poet that forms his/her stanzas like Elliot? What is the trick to deciphering the moral? I need an Elliot-mentor if I hope to ever "get it."

Well, in high school in the early 60's, we studied the Love Song of J. Alfred Proufrock....I wish I'd saved my paper on what it meant. Now that I am 62, I know!
"Sio credesse che mia risposta fosse A persona che mai tornasse al mondo, Questa fiamma staria senza piu scosse. Ma perciocche giammai di questo fondo Non torno vivo alcun, s'i'odo il vero, Senza tema d'infamia ti rispondo" This is from the epigram to the poem. Anyone know what it is from? Also, see my blog that starts out with that quote:
