Stanley Donwood

Forum

Look around you, what do you see? i see a collidascope, its dark, meaningless. look up, what do you see? i see a ring, circling what? an plastic gun.

What can I say? I really admire him...

A bloody genius, that's what he is. We need more Stanley and less John Grisham.

I am a better writer than he but less inspirational, much more sexy, but less deviant. I am one of very few American Holicost survivors trapped in a small village of elusive backtalkers. This must explain the whole "less inspirational" thing.

g'day stanley [apologies in advance for the long post]
first off, much respect for your work with radiohead, and those funny/wierd/random short stories you've got on the website.

I'm currently studying Architecture at QUT - Queensland University of Technology (I'm from the land of oz) and have been given an assignment to design a studio for an artist. they suggested finding artists that used a variety of medium and techniques as to provide a more intersting problem rather than just some guy who only paints, then all we really need is a room with good lighting (or dark lighting... if that's his 'inspiration' :) ).

anyway, i don't know too many artists, was never into theory when i did art at school, and i wanted to do someone other than piccaso, da vinsi, vangough (?) etc. then i remembered you, and how you use paintings, collages, photoshopped stuff, sculpture (reconstucted burger, that was cool) and thought you would make for an interesting (pretend) client.

so, if i could have a moment of your time, could you email me or just post back here, telling me about all the different techniques and medium you use, what your studio is at the moment, what you think could be better, what you wuoldnt change.
do you need alot of storage space? just that sort of thing would be most helpful.
actually, any info would be useful

thanx a bunch
