he is one of the most sensation British writers of the moment. not only is Birdsong passionate but it is impassioned. it allows the reader a view of the war previously unseen. this tempered by a beautifully erotic love story makes teh unbearable horror of the war so much more poignant.
His classic yet modern style prove him to be an author not just for the living room but for the classroom and we all can learn form him.

Birdsong leaves an indelible mark on all who read it. It's hard to believe Faulks was not a soldier in WWI; he brings the war to life. The love story is also beautiful.
