I've read The Mosquito Coast and nothing else; like Cormac McCarthy Theroux appears to me as distinctly American more than any other living writer that i know; but I want to read more from him

His son, Louis, has a TV show on the BBC called weird weekend or something like that. It's one of the funniest things I've seen on TV.

If you are interested in Paul Theroux I suggest you read Milroy the Magician.....but to be fair I have a confederate who says his fiction is shit.....but it was truly one of the most memorable books I have ever read......
the story was absolutely unique.......
and very american......
