I am trying to research Naguib's story "Half a Day, " I'm trying to kind of understand a little bit about his purpose of the story. In other words, what he is trying to convey to his audience. If someone can kinda help me out email me at: playgirl4814@aol.com

I just started reading "Wedding Song". So far its very good. The shifts in narrative are a little confusing at first, but then it gets good because you gain context for each speaker.

I have enjoyed the two books palace walk and palace of desire, but the last one sugar street i did not read to the end.The hero's obssesions with his unattainable love have become so tedious that i dont have the patience to thread a couple more pages of worship laden prose.IBut i love palace walk, brilliant!

I have read the whole cairo trilogy (palace walk, palace of desire, sugar street) and I must say I liked the whole trilogy a lot, mostly for its description of egypt culture, which is not too close, yet not so unfamiliar to me. Perhaps Palace of Desire the best, but I realy coulnd't swear to that.
