Margaret George

Margaret George's 'Mary Called Magdalene' is the first one of her books I’ve read. It’s 875 pages of reading but wonderfully crafted and brought together with the authors skill and extensive research into many sources. There is of course biblical leaning but it’s a novel.
The main character of Mary whose life we follow through her childhood, adolescence to womanhood, and the change in her experience which transforms her life has been created and merged beautifully in this work with many other aspects of Jewish life and culture pertaining to place and the story line of this controversial figure in Scripture.
It appealed, and I enjoyed it very much.
Margaret George was born in Nashville Tennessee and has written three other historical novels that I know of.
