One of the best 'new' SF writers. Combines hard-tech speculation, tonnes of political meanderings and a witty, fast-paced prose style to create what one critic has called
'gnostic potboilers'.

He could probably write a lot better than he is - I get the impression he's still just having fun. Still, he's one of my favourite conteporary SF writers and I expect many more enjoyable books from him, and hopefully a real classic soon.

Read _The Star Fraction_.......I can see the talent in his writing, but the volume of obscure references to different organizations in his created future can be difficult to stomach, they come at you too heavy and fast to really understand all on a first read. Wondering if his books are all like this, if on a second novel (or a reread) the experience is the same.
