He had an imp-ish sense of humour at times, defacing the jackets & covers of books borrowed from the public library. If you saw the alteration, it could be most lewd & shocking.

I've ordered the Diaries again. They're a saucy, hedonistic read, make no mistake. The Edna Welthorpe letters are included.
