Hi Ayla,
Well, either you liked the book because you have the same name as the main character, or you liked the book so much you chose Ayla as your login name.
My login is 'badger' for no particular reason.
Did you read the book in German or English? If English, are you an English speaker living in Germany or a German who can just read English very well? Just curious.
Anyhow, you should definitely read the other four books in the series. There's a lot of information about what happens in them inside this last book, but you'll gain a deeper appreciation of the various themes of Ayla's (and Jondalar's) life stories if you read the earlier books. If the past is any guide, we'll have to wait a few more years for the sixth book to be published.
Reading all these books, it has become clear to me that Ayla is a sort of unwilling bringer of change, wherever she goes. Whether the change is for good or ill depends on her own actions but also on the actions of all the people around her. Ayla just wants to be normal, but her unusual background has simply made her into too exciting a person for her not to cause things around her to change. I think that is her big struggle, and the struggle of the man who loves her will be to deal with the fact that life with Ayla will never be dull, but it will never be completely "safe and secure," either.
So Ayla from Germany, and anyone else reading, how do you think the coming and staying of Ayla will make life change for the Zelandonii people? How has it changed their life already, and how will these things develop in book 6, in your opinion?

hi all i have read all the books on the earth children and find them very hard to put down as you feel that you are there and seeing it all going on . ayla has had to struggle all her life just to be a part of the clan then the others but no matter what she has made a place for herself where ever she goes and is always made welcome in the end and asked to stay instead of going on but she went with the man she loved and found that she belonged there to it is a very moving story hope the next book gets here quicker than the others todg

Hi,
I started reading the earth childrens series when I was 13, I love the books so much that now at 26 I have the whole series and I named my first child Ayla. I am saving the books for my Ayla to give to her when she is older she is only 1 at the moment. I hope she is as stong as the Ayla in the book and can cope with life as well as the charater. I hope there is another book coming out soon. Thanks Kima
