Christopher Paolini

I read the book and enjoyed it very much, but I find it very easy to believe that a teenager wrote it (a very talented teenager!) but a teenager nonetheless.

It is a cliffhanger to ensure that you get the next book. Fine with me... although the sequal should have come out the day after the first one came out.
>>By Megano (Sunday, 7 Nov 2004 09:42)
Lol! I agree, I'm tired of waiting. I want the next book NOW! Do any of you get Christopher Paolini's newsletter? He said he should be finished with the final chapter of Eldest by the middle/end of November.... That means it's coming out soon! YAY!
>>By Fairy of Shalot (Monday, 8 Nov 2004 00:08)

Does anyone have any dates as to when the book will be out????
>>By Cimorene (Monday, 29 Nov 2004 18:37)
hey peoplez. how's it going?
i've finished my own copy of Eragon a long time ago and have read it from cover to cover several times already. I'm a super Eragon-maniac!
I really love the line that goes.. "I'll fight when needed. I'll party when there's an occasion. I'll mourn when there's grief. I'll die when my time comes. But I'll let no one use me against my own will."
I've myself heard that the next book, Eldest, would be out sometime in 2005. But then there's already internet shops like Amazon.com and etc that is "selling" the book... what's right?
>>By SaphiraJr (Sunday, 12 Dec 2004 12:50)
No.. wait.. it says on the Amazon that it will be arriving on August 23, 2005... That's a lot of time to wait.... huh?? --_--
>>By SaphiraJr (Sunday, 12 Dec 2004 12:54)
Man I can't beleive that we have to wait until the end of August thats such a bummer. :(
>>By Cimorene (Wednesday, 15 Dec 2004 22:41)
Saphira Jr. the line goes...."I'll fight when needed, revel when there is an occasion, mourne if there is grief, and die if my time comes...but I will let no one use me against my will." I also like the quote "You can't argue with all the fools in the world, it's better to let them have their way and trick them when they aren't paying attention." I also agree that august is a long time to wait, but im happy to know its at least coming.

The book comes out this month! I am sooo baking a cake. Also, there is a book sighning near where I live on the fifteenth. I am trying to convince my mum to take me. If only I could drive. One more year!
Anyhoo... I am going to get very angry if eragon has a romance with anyone but arya in the next books. It will make me angry because it is obvious that the two of them are gonna end up together. I am going to throw an eragon party with my eragon-loving homies.... all one of them..... anyhoo... i'll let you all get back to your lives now
may your swords stay sharp

Ok, I re-read the book. The first time I read it, I thought it was acceptable. But I've re-read it, and I believe it was quite incredibly stupid. I know someone's thinking, "like you could do better," and you know what, I could. It was dreadful. I despised it. The character development was terrible, the plot was plodding, and I hope everyone just dies in Eldest, which I will NOT be reading. I'm very confused about why I liked this book the first time and hated it so much the second. Has anyone else found themselves in the same situation?
>>By raspberry_juice (Sunday, 18 Sep 2005 17:47)
No. I loved Eragon, and I still do. I agree that someone else may have been able to do a better job; but I think mostly that's just due to the fact that the author was nineteen when it was PUBLISHED, and he was even younger when he started writing it. He hadn't had as much experience writing as an adult who has written all his/her life. I think that reflects in his writing style, and I think he grew up a bit between Eragon and Eldest. I, at least, thought Eldest was much better, though I think Christopher Paolini still needs a bit of practice. However, for a teenager, I think Paolini's books are pretty dang good.

ok after reading these comments it sounds like no one has commented since eldest was released apart from artificial stupidity, where did everyone go? Not that I have been to this page before or anything, but it is just confusing me. I hate stumbling into unfinished series! I meant to read eragon for ages after getting it for my birthday in 2004 and a friend recommending it to me but I didn't get further than the first chapter or two until I saw my school library had a paperback copy which was much easier to carry around so I got that copy out so I could carry it around with me and I needed a book for my english talk on monday so I decided to use that. I read Eragon and I loved it, as usual when my friend recommends books, I regretted not reading it sooner. So I got the next book which is practically a paving slab, at least the hardback anyway I'm not sure whether it's out in paper back yet. I loved that too, and I'm really annoyed that I can't read the third book for ages! The ending was really annoying, worse than the first one I think, because it left you at so much of a loose end I mean at least with the first book you knew that he would go to Ellesmera and complete his training as a rider and that there would be a battle and everything. With the second book you find out that eragon and murtagh are brothers and Roran meets up with Eragon, so what will happen? Will he go to Dras-Leona with Roran? Will he decide randomly to join Galbatorix because Morzan was his father? Will he go back to the elves and finish his training?

I think I have to disagree with most of those who have commented before me.
I enjoyed Eragon but I don't think I'll ever read Eldest. Why? Paolini's style. He does well to create an epic story (that follows the plot outline of every other epic story) and a world that does drag in its readers. However, he never seemed to settle on what he wanted in his books. At times he was writing for a younger audience and then others he strayed into a more mature audience (Implying that the Elf girl had been raped for example). I think I'll read more Paolini later, because I'm not trying to knock his talent. I think he's got a great start and will mature into one of the best SciFi/Fantasy writers of my lifetime, but I'm not sure he's there yet. I don't want to read Eldest or the 3rd book because I don't want my opinion of Paolini to be marred by his youth.

>>By silver_rain883 (Monday, 26 Mar 2007 23:52)
Has anyone heard? The series is no longer a trilogy - there are now four books to the complete series! More Eragon is certainly a good thing!
