Ive read them since he first came out with the Shannara Books in the 1970s . They are pure fantasy with some messages or metaphors in them for the the way we react to the bad things in life, the shadows etc. and also I noticed in some of the later books he is making an oblique reference to the ecology. Anyways, lol i love them for being pure escapism - we can get involved with the characters and enjoy there adventures---- very much like the Lord of the Rings-- all his books are about QUESTS of some sort or another :) >>By sasha51 Loved all his books, read all in order. eagerly awaiting next one. I like the fact that ecology and the mountains feature so high in his books , and the quests involved.
