Anyone have an questions they would like asked of Sophie when I interview her today?

She's fantastic! Her books are so funny. Becky's great. Although she brings everything on herself I still had so much sympathy for her and suze reminds me so much of my best mate! Every female should read these and bow down to Becky Bloomwood, the Queen of shopping!

If you are in any way interested in shopping then read these books. Believe me after the first few pages you wont be able nor will you want to put this book down! Sophie Kinsella has a true gift. I felt completely indulged without having to spend a penny!

Spoke with Sophie. Yes, there is going to be another Shopaholic book. She had intended to end them after "Ties the Knot" but says she misses the characters too much. So, they will continue.

Hi girls,
here you are a very interesting news I found out on the web today (Maybe you know it yet but I didn't):

Friday 17th January 2003: Can You Keep A Secret? Update:
Paramount Pictures have picked up the rights to the novel Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. The movie will be produced by Lynda Obst and will be developed as a vehicle for Kate Hudson who will also produce. The movie tells the tale of a junior marketing exec who makes her first business trip to Glasgow. After the plane hits air turbulence on the way home, she blurts out personal secrets to her handsome seatmate who, she learns later, is the man who runs her company.

I'm so glad that sophie kinsella is making another book in the shopoholic series, they are absolutley fanastic, i'm currently reading can you keep a secret, it's so great, and incredibly funny, i think it will make a good movie. Her books give me a lift, i sit and laugh out loud sometimes, i'd love to know where she gets her inspiration from.
I didn't know there were so many shopoholic fans, i thought i was the only one, no one i know has heard of her books.

Love is too mild a word to describe how much I enjoyed the Shopaholc series. I even felt compelled to order "Ties the Knot" from amazon.co.uk because I just couldn't wait until it was released in the US. Becky Bloomwood and I are shopping soul sisters. I've done the very same things she does in the books to justify my shopping addiction. I hope that Ms. Kinsella continues with the misadventures of Becky, as well as the other memorable characters in the books.

I've just finished reading "Can You Keep a Secret"! I enjoy it very much! I've only used one day to finish the book!

I love her books, especially the recent one, 'Can You Keep A Secret?'. I really love that book a lot, especially reading the best of characters in the book getting together, 'Jack' and 'Emma'. I hope that she can/will continue a sequel to the book 'Can You Keep A Secret?' and keep the characters 'Jack' and 'Emma' 's relationship together unchange. I love both this characters together.

By the way, will Sophie herself be reading all these discussion comments too as well? And is there any website/homepage/e-mail address/address to write to her directly? Thanks. Thank You.

By the way, I am from Singapore, so I am not very sure about the things in here and how to get in contact with Sophie. I just adore her books.

>>By Selphie   (Tuesday, 22 Apr 2003 11:46)

I love her books! There really is a shopaholic in all of us gals! The funny thing is... I have so much in common with Becky Bloomwood, it's unbelievable... even my mum (who read the books, too) laughed! We live in the same area (Fulham), I work in finance (the reason for me working in this industry is very much random, too) and so I can basically picture what she goes through every single day...

Sophie Kinsella is a great author. She should continue her work!

I absolutely love the shopaholic books! i just finished 'Shopaholic Takes Manhattan' in four days and i'm already on to 'Shopaholic Ties the Knot'! I was wondering if anyone knows when 'Can You Keep a Secret?' will be released in the United States?

>>By Hillary   (Thursday, 19 Jun 2003 06:47)

Well honestly speaking, sophie's an excellent writer and don't we all just love her books? I've got all of them(england version) and i've practically read all the reviews...i felt really intrigued... however i gotta say that just as long as we support her books, i'm sure there's no need to find out sophie's background n all... afterall everyone's gotta have privacy, right?.... haha and anyway, look forward to her new books if there're any. ^.^

The shopoholic series are witty, intellient, realistic and relate to all of us in one way or another! You really get into the characters' heads and feel becky's pain every time she receives another bank statement! They are full of imagination and it is clear that Sophie spent lots of time researching for them! For that, Sophie, I thank you! Can You Keep A Secret is not one of the shopoholic series but is amazing in its own right. Again, very imaginative and fun! Addictive reads that I could not put down, literally! I was eating my dinner round them, reading them whilst on the phone and quoting lines to my friends!

Thanks!

I'm currently reading "Can You Keep A Secret?" for the third or fourth time....The book's truly amazing! Sophie Kinsella's outdone herself once again!! Definitely hope that this will span a new series, and I can't wait for the next book!!! Aaaaagghhhh!

>>By Vanessa   (Wednesday, 25 Jun 2003 04:37)

I love the Shopaholic series! I hope that Sophie Kinsella writes another book for the series. I hope to see Becky get pregnant and have a baby. That would be fun to read about. Just an idea!

I know this convo is virtually dead but Sophie Kinsella's real name is Madeline Wickham, she is an author under both names but she was worried how people would react with to her new style of writing so used the name S.K,

thnik these books would do very good as movies. But i wouldn't muddy it up by putting all three books into one movie. It'd be nice for it to be a 3 parter. As for the actor's I could imagine Kate Beckinsale as Becky she seems to be able to play a quirky obsessed character. As for Luke.... I could see someone like Christian Bale or Shane Brolly. I didn't like Brolly's perforemnce in Underworld but he has that dark stare i imagine Luke to have and his physique makes him seem like he can be an itimidating person.Because for Luke it would have to be someone gorgeous but kind of hard and driven. In the book (ties the knot)they show his vulnerable side but you don't get to really imagine the playdul side. That's what was kind of wierd about their realtionship to me.
I've been reading some of the post and I can't really see Jude Law or Peirce Bronson playing Luke. When i tihnk of Luke I imagine him as being really tall, brood shoulders, black hair black eyes, and his physique being very itimidating becasue he seems like a scary person (first off). He'd be kinda wide not fat but his frame would be built but not overly muscualar "I work out all the time". I don't know those are just my thoughts from reading the book. Jude Law just seems to scrawny to play Luke.
Although someone mentioned Colin Firth, good choice except he's too Marc Darcy it'd be weird to see him play Luke too. Someone also mentioned Colin Farell and he would be good but he seems to playful and they'd have to do something with those eyebrows. Luke is the ultimate clean shaven, smartly dressed gentleman. (like Colin Firth :). )

Nothing is going on with it at the moment....When im reading the book i imagine luke as colin firth (Because luke reminds me of mr darcy :D )

Im not sure who would be good to play becky...i just hope they use an english Actress.

OMG...i bought, and read all of Can You Keep a Secret? this past saturday and i was, and still am completely riveted! obsessed, hypnotized, whatever you want to call it! i LOVED this book! Jack and Emma's relationship was just completely adorable! I realllllllllly hope that S.K. doesn't leave us hanging w/ out a sequel! although i can't say i would blame her if she doesn't want all her books to turn into sequels. i'm upset to hear kate hudson has been chosen for the role of emma though. she's not even british! i was hoping to have some one like Sienna Miller, from Keen Eddie, and who is currently dating Jude Law. If anyone has seen Keen Eddie, i can just picture her as emma! As for the role of Jack, i dunno, maybe im completely crazy but i pictured him to be scruffy and older, maybe an unshaven George Clooney or something. LOL but then again, he's rather old, and him and Kate Hudson? NO WAY! So, does anyone know if Sophie has a website where we could find more info about upcoming projects? if you do that would be great!!
