The back cover of Olds' new book The Unswept Room features a writer's blurb which says< ,"She has made the minutiae of a woman's everyday life as valid a subject for poetry as the grand abstrace themes that have preoccupied other poets." I believe this is like saying that Old's examination of parent/child relationships, death, awareness of being alive, love, are minutiae. Sheer idiocy, damning by praising. What's that all about?

I agree with judith. A distortion of the vastness of meaning contained in her poetry

Nonetheless, her poetry is very sensual and well written!
