10-19-02~~ Where's the Seattle party for Sarah being held?? Is she here solo or does she have a partner/spouse? I'm the cheeky monkey that kissed at her bookreading in February. Does Sarah have a homepage? Ciao for now~~Kismets

OMG I just finished reading Tipping the Velvet! I am totally speechless! I have never loved a book so much! I wish I could go back and start the book for the first time again. I am so sad that it is over, i wish it had been longer! Has anyone read her other two books? are they as good? I doubt it is possible to top Tipping!

Amy, Yes the other two are just as wonderful!!

I'm waiting on the fourth now, very impatiently I might add. She is the most incredible novelist I've read. The details and storylines are just unbelievably moving and touching and thrilling to read!!

Waiting on the next one....

has anyone noticed how much the character kitty, in tipping the velvet is based on marlene dietrich's charcter in 'morocco'?

if you haven't seen morocco, i encourage you to. there is a scene where dietrich dresses in a tux for a cabaret show and she is so reminiscent of kitty it's [erfect. she tosses a rose into the crowd and all. it's beautiful.

anyone else notice this?

Please may I add my comments of appreciation. I have read all 3 books, love them passionately, and long for more! I would be very interested to know if there are any publicised venues at which we can meet Sarah Waters herself. I would like to thank her for giving me hours (albeit too few!) of enjoyment reading her work........though Tipping The Velvet made me sob my heart out when I finally put it down!

The first book I read by Sarah Waters was Fingersmith. I could hardly put the book down once I started reading it.
Everytime I thought I might have things figured out, there was yet ANOTHER twist!!! I LOVED it and could not wait to read her other books. The next one that I read was Affinity and that was also awesome, yet very different than Fingersmith. Tonight I finished Tipping The Velvet and all I can say is AWESOME!!!! It captivated me until the last word. I would love to know when she is publishing another book and if she ever does book signings in the USA. I am anxiously awaiting MANY more books by her....in the NEAR future, I hope!!! Also, there are very FEW good lesbian movies and I would LOVE to see her books made into movies. If I had the money to finance them, I would see that they all became movies!!!

She's brilliant and fabulous. I am studying Fingersmith for my MA in writing and had already read that and the other three. Her website is www.sarahwaters.com (slightly obvious I know but it saves you a search). And YES of course she's queer. She's too florking gorgeous not to be. She's writing a 1940's novel now and going great guns I hope.
