Discussion: Sagan

Carl was an amazing writer, who was able to successfully create a cogent argument for society to love science, be humanitarian, and live using our brains. I didn't discover his books until about 1998. The first one that I read was "Billions and Billions," and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was too bad that he had to go so early in life. Reading that book, I fell in love with his worldview. I was saddened when I read the epilogue written by his wife, Ann Druyan, after his death, and this made the book very poignant to me.

Billions and Billions was an interesting end to his oeuvre of novels and non-fictions work. I did like it and I definately felt pangs of remorse and regret for the words Sagan took with him. My first was Contact which left me dizzy for weeks while I tried to grasp the size of infinity! His most influential book, for me, was without a doubt Demon-Haunted World. It ruined me completely and I recommend it highly to others. Read it.
