Discussion: Robert Sheckley Sheckley's stories, especially in IS THAT WHAT PEOPLE DO? are amazingly witty and full of surprising twists and turns and paradoxial ideas. They are also extremely funny. His book Dimension of Miracles is a masterpiece of satire. Journey Beyond Tomorrow and Mindswap are also superb satires, existential to the max, alternately sweet and mean, monstrous and beautiful. Books like Immortality Incorporated and The Status Civilisation are fabulously stirical. His short stories are little works of genius too. Considering they were written the 1950s quite frighteninly prescient! My own favorite is Journey of Joenes (also titled Journey Beyond Tomorrow). His short stories are masterpieces.
