Opinions on Knife of Dreams, anyone??

The Wheel of Time has ground to a halt. Okay, I may be wrong. I stopped reading after book 9. or maybe it was 10. Good-freaking-grief! It was fun at first, and I enjoyed the world being complex and the story being complicated, but by 7 it was getting frustrating and the plot was NOT moving forward. He was clearly milking his success and I was getting angry. For now I've decided to wait and see if the man ends it before dying of old age or getting hit by a bus and leaving us all hanging. If he does, I might go back and re-read it all from begining to end one summer, and hope to God his ending can live up to putting us through reading like ten thousand pages.

***, bad typing day.

I am quite new to Robert Jordan, I have become addicted to the wheel of time series and have flown through the first 4 books, really enjoying all of them. I am now half way through The Fires of Heaven and my only concern is how long the series is going on for... book 11 and still going?? I have started to get to points where I think "Get on with it!!" so was a bit dissapointed to read on here that this feeling may grow.
That said I am still enjoying the series and will continue to read it with enthusiasm. Lets hope he does wrap it up with an amazing ending and soon!!

For the people starting it now, I think it's much more easily tolerated, since they haven't had to wait 2 years to read 10 books, but for people who have read it since the first book came out, you get pissed off really quickly...

I'm so disappointed... I'm barely able to support myself on my meager paycheck, and KoD is 40$ at my local bookstore... I have to wait until Christmas before I get it....

About 300 pages into KoD. I've been kind of busy.

So far it's interesting, but a bit slow. I'm also annoyed because I'm having so much trouble remembering who everyone he talks about is.

I also don't like the fact he hasn't had one chapter with Rand yet. Rand's my favorite character.

I decided to re-read the series to remember everything about it before i got to KoD, and after re-reading them all i see the series as much more in depth and complicated then i remember. Characters are more deep, more well made out then i remember. I agree its been long but i mean he does have like 50 important characters that he has to wrap up before its over.

I know, there are so many characters that you get to know so well in one particular book, but then you forget about him or her and get confused and mix them all up. It would have been better if he kept it to 5 or so books, and then started a new series. He is a great author, but he gets carried away.

>>By Urbane   (Saturday, 28 Jan 2006 01:53)

Yeah, it's so dragged out...and I'm tired of some of the plotlines, especially Elayne's/Mat's. We need more Nynaeve and Rand.

>>By raspberry_juice   (Saturday, 18 Feb 2006 19:26)

I totally agree with that. It would be so much easier if Elayne just let Rand get her the throne, but she's too damn stubborn, and then Mat never really has a reason for anything he does...

Rand and Nynaeve, the best characters in the series.

>>By Urbane   (Thursday, 23 Feb 2006 05:04)

I disagree, Mat is actually my favorite character. And reasons don't much matter for a ta'veren (as Mat has stated to his discomfort more than once) Perrin is also a great character, truly i get bored with Nynaeve and Elayne. Mat is probably my favorite because his luck is much more apparent than Rand's and Perrin's.

>>By Quote Lover   (Monday, 6 Mar 2006 04:43)

I get bored with Elayne, but Nynaeve can be funny with all her habits. I really wished he'd gotten the Egwene part with the White Tower finished. I like Perrin a lot, but I just have never really liked Mat.

He just has so many characters... It's impossible to please every one person.

I was actually somewhat disappointed with KoD. I don't know if I built my expectations up too much or what, but the battles and action in KoD just seemed a bit...anticlimactic?

>>By raspberry_juice   (Tuesday, 27 Jun 2006 03:33)

Yep. Nothing happened in KoT really. Just some battles. I can't remember pretty much everything that happened in it.

And then...

Quote from Wikipedia:

"On March 23, 2006, Jordan disclosed in a statement, in a firm and optimistic tone, that he has been diagnosed with primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy, and that, with treatment, his median life expectancy is four years."

Finish it quick, Robert.

robert jordan is a wery good writer but like most of you stated he has been draging this series for too long. it is the same story as with terry goodkind and his series sword of trues, indefinately long , interesting but last book quite disipointing as nothing get solved and you are left wondering what just happened. it is like the volume was released to remind as the author is still out there, you read it, remember all the characters and then it is finished.
common guys , wrap it up with some kind of ending.
