Discussion: Robert Asprin

About "Myth-ion Improbable"

I've read all of Asprin's books (many times) and know his style better than my own. I've tried emulating it for so many years in content and humor that when I read this book, I started looking for some note that said, "Written by a sad ghost!" or "Fan out to slander Asprin." I mean this book was awful. The writing was complete junk without the flow and mannerisms that we've come to expect from Asprin!

There's a possibility I'd lose my shirt, but I'd bet it and a pair of "clean" underwear that he didn't write this book ... and if he did? WHERE's THE REAL WRITER OF THE MYTH SERIES!?!?!?!? Cause no-one changes style like that, even after 6 years! And certainly not that much!!!

I too have read the Myth series, and it seems that maybe a lack of creative flow was missing from the last installemnt, or prehaps he wrote the book in segments over a period of time. I was not as satisfied with Myth-ion Improbable as with the rest. Many factors could be responsible.

I guess you didn't read the forward on "Myth-ion Improbable." He clearly stated that he had lost the flow of writing the Myth series after a bout with the IRS. By the meter of the text you could definitely see that he was out of sync. I just hope writing this one helps him get back in the grove so that he can finish out the series.
