I found Lolita disturbing, dark yet comic.

With the exception of a section in the middle where I got tremendously bored, I think Lolita is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. The subject matter is difficult, but the language is utterly breathtaking.

As soon as I picked Lolita up, I couldn't put it down. It is such a beautiful, heart wrenching book that blurs the line between what is socially acceptable and what is considered morally disgusting. At times I would find myself giggling at poor, pathetic Humbert Humbert's commentary-other times I would clasp my hand over my mouth in horror at his creepy, obsessive thought process. Some may think that Nabakov's style is too monotonous and boring, but I like the way he guides his reader through the story at a steady pace-not leaving anything out.
