Discussion: Michelle Magorian Michelle Magorian is the author of Goodnight Mister Tom a touching story set in an English country village whose residents had taken in evacuees from London during WW11. Written for younger readers it equally appealed to adults and was adapted for television starring the late fine actor John Thaw. The child actors were great especially William - main young character. The novel contains more than the TV drama, which was winner of most popular TV programme, certainly one of my favourites. Michelle Magorian also wrote Back Home about evacuees returning home in 1945 at the end of WW11 and adapted for television in 2001. >>By eaglewings
