One place is an isolated island, one place is an isolated desert, the bad guy want to steal the monsters, the bad guys want the monster (the army), Im not there yet, but I can guess. And the 1st book that I've read is the "A case of need" where a Doctor is accussed of aborting the daughter of a well-Known Doctor.
