the 1st book i've read of maeve binchy was the glass lake.its so good i cried everytime i read.the story's very simple and the characters in the story were just ordinary people. u wouldn't think that there's a lot going on in everyday life of ordinary people.simple yet it touches your heart.

l read TARA ROAD a while ago now, and have read many many books since, and have been comparing every book l read to TARA ROAD.
It has to be the best book ever written, l recommend it to everyone, if you havent read it yet, dont waste any more time.
Maeve Binchy dont ever stop writing, you are a great talent.

I read MB whenever I have enough death, gore, murder, explicit sex etcetera in other works of fiction. But please tell me why her single woman friends always betray the married friend. Does this actually happen in real life???
And just once I would like to see one of these betrayed wives kick her philandering husband in the balls. THAT would be satisfying.

These days i read Tara Road...... Man, it's so interesting. What's really amazes me is that Mayeve tells us the story without leaving any details being missed. The story is so great!

You just have to read her book, a little reality for a change

right, reality.doesn't it feel good when you can somehow relate to the stories.

sure... that's the main point... the stories r so real, you actually think this is a documentary book (sorry i don't realy know how to wrrte that long word)....
I'm about to read al her books.... I hope all of them just as interesting ad The Glass Lake or Tara Road...

I always thought I was a fan of Maeve Binchy- I have all her books and I thought I enjoyed them. But I began to reread them and and this depressed feeling came over me. I couldn't bear do it again- I could not re-read how Aidenn Dunn was so humiliated ...How Ria is so poorly used by husband and friend, How awful and traitorous and selfish these people are. I refuse to believe that it is realisitic, that people are so inherantly cruel. Maeve has shown us these brutal unforgiving and unforgivable people but instead of reviling these characters we embrace them and we do it all because she gift wrapped them in pretty Irish paper...

I don't know about you.but that's reality and you have to cope with it.
