I believe Lorenzo Carcaterra is a very talented writer. His words have a certain air to them that pulls the reader through every page, regardless of the situation. His books are very enjoyable, and I strongly encourage anyone who has the slightest interest in reading to consider reader his works

I am now reading 'Sleepers' for the third time...i have book-marked pages that i feel have an utter significance to them. Lorenzo is the one writer (with the exception of Enid Blyton) i would truly like to meet. He has a gift and is using it in the best possible way, every word he writes jumps off the page and into my head, playing over and over again- his words touch me in a way no other writers ever have.

I first read sleepers one night when a friend gave me the book, I stayed up the whole night living the story with shakes, michael, john and tommy. I feel in love with the book, since then I have read it proably 40 times. It takes more than courage to come face to face with a past as painful as that. Lorezo broke through the memories and scars that tourmented four young boys, because of this he has become on of the best authors of his time. It's not even the fact that Sleepers is a true story, every page captivates you and makes you want to know more. He has inspired me to pursue my talents and I am very grateful of his endeavor with sleepers.

I have read Apaches about 10 times and all of Lorenzo Carcaterra's other books several times too. I love his style of writing; he really pulls you in and makes you feel like you are there with the characters. My only complaint is that he doesn't come out with new books often enough! Each book leaves me wanting to read more, but I've either got to read an old book again or wait for a new one to come out! I too have had a hard time finding out info about Lorenzo Carcaterra, and I'd love to learn more about him. Also, I heard before that there were plans to make Apaches into a movie; that was a while ago, though. I hope they will though!

I read Sleepers for the first time when i was going through a really bad time myself, it gave me so much hope, and i truly believe Carcaterra is a genious. He made me realise that if he can survive after everything he went through at the Wilkinson home for boys, then we can all survive through our individual hurdles in life.

Lorenzo Caracterra's novels are by far some of the best I have ever read. When I read "Sleepers" for the first time, I was forever changed by his powerful words and undying spirit. He is amazing when it comes to placing th reader directly in the novel with him, creating a masterpiece that is impossible to put down. The sadness, the laughter, the pain; whatever the characters in his novels felt, I seemed to feel within me as well. The empowerment of his expression of emotions has moved me in a way that I will never forget. Three cheers for Carcaterra!!!

What a powerful book! I read it in 24 hours - could not hardly put it down. It's incredible to imagine surviving that kind of abuse and coming out the other side. The book was griping, impossible to put down. And over and over I kept reminding myself - this really did happen.

After reading Sleepers, i couldn't help but wonder whereabouts he lived and where "Michael" is now,- is he really in England and whether they still see one another. Its such a sad story of friendship! Also how John's son is doing and what his mothers up to. its hard to imagine that its all based on real life and that these people are really living, wherever they may be. who knows those of us in england may have actually met Michael without knowing it.
i find it amazing!!

Can anyone tell me when Lorenzo's next book is out and what it is about?

I have read "sleepers" probably a hundred times by now. The very first time I read the book, I did not put it down until I finished. This man is an exceptional writer. It's so amazing what he has lived through in his life and had the courage to write about and share with all of us. I have tried and tried to find a way to find some type of email address or anything to personally tell him how I feel about this book. If anyone has any type of information....please post it. In my entire life I have NEVER read anything that has made such an impact in my life. With all that he has had to endure, he deserves all the blessings that life can give him. Thank you Lorenzo for sharing your story with us.

Lorenzo Carcaterra is a very talented man. His novel Sleepers is a powerful book. I have read the book seven times, and each time I have cried over the plight of the four boys. I would honestly like to meet Lorenzo Carcaterra and congratulate him on his work. He involves the readers in the book, and pulls them into a world where they experience everything that the characters are feeling and doing. If I could choose one person to be my role model, it would be him. I am 13 years old and do not know much about the world, but he has opened my eyes to the kind of place we really live in.

I haven't read as much books as most people here. But Carcaterra's books helped me alot. When i'm alone I can find a friend in the characters...

i recently read sleepers and i know this is one of those few books which will have an everlasting impact on me. Such deep an impact infact that after reading the last page.. i deperately wanted to get intouch with the author myself (wishful thinking) and wanted him to know that i, thousands of miles away felt what he felt.. cried for the deep friendship he shared and how it all changed over the years.
