Whoa! Book 9 was a handful! It was great, like all the others. Lots of new information. We figured out SOME of the meanings of V.F.D. The way i think the parent/s/no parent survived was they went through the secret passage to Dark City or whatever.

All of the Series of Unfortunate Events are totally awesome! I think that it's good that Lemony Snicket writes books that are the opposite of any usual book(they are the kind of books that don't have many happy endings or events, usually most books do), it makes the books interesting that way. I like to write stories myself, and Lemony Snicket's ideas are insperations! I especially enjoyed book 8 because it was a cliff-hanger while I waited for book 9! I usually don't like mystery because it's either too complicated or you have to wait to long to find out what happens, but in the SOUE(Series of Unfortunate Events) it's a lot different and much better!

Question: Who is Lemony Snicket? I mean, the mystery is totally thought-provoking! But, that's what I like about it. Once again, his books are awesome! I think that if I had to choose a legal guardian for the Baudelaires, I'd choose Uncle Monty(if he wasn't dead). What I also wonder is: Why didn't Mr. Poe have the children live with Uncle Monty or Aunt Josephine in the first place? But, I think that there wouldn't be such a good series if they didn't live with Count Olaf in the first book.
What I think(I haven't finished the 9th book so I don't know if this is in it) is that Count Olaf purposely killed the Baudelaire parents, so that he can somehow continue his devious plan into getting the fortune. Well, I guess I'll just have to see. Bye

Dear Reader,
If you have bot read a even 1 book by Lemony Snicket... I highly suggest that you do RIGHT NOW!
This book is the greastest along with HARRY POTTER!
Lemony Snicket is a great writer along with J.K. ROwling.
Lemony snicket;s books really make you feel like its happening he is GREAT with turning pionts!
In the 1st book he almost made me cry when I read about COunt Olaf lashing Klaus.
I hate when my mom used to beat me if I did something terrible and they didn't do anything except not cook roast beef!
Anyway if you have a book report I think you should do on " THe Bad Beginning" by Lemony Snicket.
If you are reading this Lemony Snicket I don't scream after the people I adore { like you }. Just to make sure Im not a fan i'm a friend. BYE

I am only on the 7th book and the suspence is killing me, but I have forced myself to not skip ahead to book 9. I heard that you do find out what VFD stands for in book 9, but after reading this site you say that I will learn some of what it means. Please write and tell me if it does tell you or not! I just got the 9th book today and i am already half way done! I hope they do come out with a 10th book, the slippery slope or what ever! The 9th book is the best one yet! I cant believe that soon I will know what V.F.D. means, how Olaf is realated to it, what happens to the Qaugmires, If one of the Baudelaires parents are a live, what is in the rest of the snicket files and how Lemony and Jaques Snicket are related to the Baudelaires!

lemony snicket is the best writter ever i havent read the ninth book yet please dont spoil it i allways like to see what happens i think that is the books dident exist i probably wouldent be the person i am now i would be boring and dull

my favourite charecter is sunny she is great she may be small and only a baby but she is as smart as her brother and sister also i think cout olaf really likes violet i qoute in the first chapter of book nine he says"i want violet she is the pretty one" also in book two chapter ten he rubs his knife up her leg which to me is suggesting he is some kind of pervert.

Well- Note here book the 13th- The Vicious Victory well that it starts with V and so does Book the 7th... 2 Vs in the Same Series? I don't think so... Also if you are not sure on the 11th book's title when book 10 comes out in the letter titled To my kind editor or dear- you'll find out the name! Simple!

I have read all the books they have released so far (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) if you wanna know the title of one tell me. Some one told me the titles of 11 12 and 13. 11 is thr horrordous hill (i think) # 12 (i think) is the grim gameroon and # 13 (which i think) is the vicous victory.

ok, his real name is Daniel Handler. If oyuve been to the site you'll see that his handler of business is Mr.Handler, but Handler actually writes all of the books. Hes alos written a few others, under his real name. You can check them out at www.amazon.com I think theyre called Watch Your Mouth and something with a number in it.

one: Lemony Snicket is a ruse. his real name is Daniel Handler.
two: these books are quick, enjoyable, very uncomplicated, yet complicated at the same time. mysteriously ambiguous. the first several books((1-4)) are really... bad because they really arent leading anywhere. Mr. Handler didnt know where he was going with them... he was just playing around. but then when book five came about, he had an idea that they should be part of a bigger scene... so he invented possibly the best thing that he has invented yet: the triplets(Duncan, Isadora & Quigly Quagmire) from there he had bigger ideas. and somewhere along the lines he gathered the first four book ideas and created a very intricate mystery that is the only thing keeping buying the books though it costs me a fortune and i only read them in a few hours.
read and enjoy the books.

The Slippery Slope Clue

For those who don't know- The Slippery Slope clue is a "clue" that HarperCollins gave out as a promotional for the book, The Slippery Slope. The Clue was a sheet of paper that had a bunch of words on. There were instructions included on how to fold and cut the paper so that you received a hidden message. The message was two people holding hands, and the words on the bottom said, "Two will Disappear and Never be Seen Again." So let's take a look at all the pairs in the book:
Isadora and Duncun Quagmire
First look at theories page called "Quagmire's" on the navigation bar.
Could the two people we have all been waiting to return be the ones that disappear, sounds just like something an unorthodox children’s writer like Lemony Snicket would do. And currently they are in a self-sustaining hot air balloon with Hector, who is definitely a member of the V.F.D., and we still don’t really know if he is a good guy or not, he could be on Count Olaf’s side.
The two powdered faced women
If you haven’t noticed one or two of Count Olaf’s henchmen (women) have been dieing in each book since the 8th book. And I am guessing that it will continue in The Slippery Slope. So it could be the women. Let’s look at how the other henchmen died- following Count Olaf’s orders. So maybe they will be like trying to kill or slow or stop the Baudelaire’s, but get themselves killed instead.
Count Olaf and Esmè Sqaulor
Not very likely. But I went ahead and put it on here, but Olaf has to be in the last book. But does he?
Any pair of Count Olaf’s assistants
Same thing as powder-faced women.
Any Two of the Baudelaire’s
This makes a little more since that Olaf and Esme. Just a little. The books wouldn’t be as fun to read with just Sunny (matter which two die).
Read the clue again. “Two will disappear and never be seen again” What if the Quagmire’s are taken by Hector to be trained by the V.F.D., since they already know all this stuff about it?
What We Think: I think it will be someone who the reader’s don’t really care about. But we will find out hopefully on September 23.

I absolutely love the Grim Grotto!! It is so kewl!!! I was dying when Sunny nearly died. I lobe sunny. she is my favorite charechter. Has anyone else read The unauthorized Autobiography? And does anyone else think the title is an oxymoron?

Lemony Snicket AKA Daniel Handler is a good storyteller, The Series of Unfortunate events have a really good plot I think, sometimes becoming very intricate, but they are definitely childrens books and not GREAT Literature...

my biggest complaints are that
A. Rehashing, Rehashing, always Rehashing
B. too short... a ten dollar books takes two hours to read...

I have read books 1 thru 11, I am waiting for 12 to come out! I can't wait. However, reading some of the comments on this site about book titles, I am wondering if we are all reading the same books. Book the 10th was "The Slipper Slope", Book the 11th was "The Grim Grotto". As far as I can can see, there was no horrendous hill or grim gameroom. I am interested to know what book the 12th & 13th are, but, I don't think anyone here will be able to tell me. So, I guess I will just have to wait and see.
