Discussion: Keri Hulme

Fantastically involving, page turning, "real" stories

>>By Tammi

I think 'The Bone People' has to be one of the most brilliant different and absorbing, moving books I have ever read - I can read it again and again and it is like a stunning piece of music or a good painting.
Anyone know whether Kerewin is Keri herself ? The names are just too similar, but I don't actually know anything about Keri Hulme atall - anyone know anything?
Also not sure what other books if any she has written - personally if I wrote a book as excellent as 'The Bone People' I would stop there! Did Simon P. exist as a real child anywhere - surely he's too incredible to be sheer invention?

Try these two sites: -
www.emory.edu/ENGLISH/Bahri/Hulme.html
www.kirjasto.sci.fi/hulme.htm
One of them does say that Kerewin is based on herself.
