Fox: I've never heard of the movie "WIT," but I'll try to help.
During his lifetime, Donne never had published what you and I would think of as a book. He began his life as a swinging playboy kind of guy, then found God and became a preacher--a very good preacher at that. He wrote poetry the entire time, both as a playboy and as a preacher. His playboy poems and his preacher poems are categorized by themes, pretty much--there are "Songs and Sonnets," "Letters to Severall Personages," "Epicedes and Obsequies," and others. One category among the others is Donne's "Divine Poems," which he wrote toward the end of his life (1572-1631).
