What a wonderful writer! I read her books back to back. I don't think you can compare her to any other writer because I think she is unique. She has not cornered a market like some people who begrudge her success, she quite simply is a great stoory teller.

Her ability to speak to both children and adults alike reflects the fact that she is honest with kids and they respect that. These books are not Barney the dino with a magic wand, there is excitment, laughter and death. In this regard she tells stories like Astrid Lindgren. Gripping and honest.

I be towards the front of the queue, elbowing little children out of the way when her next book goes on sale.

I do really like your writing, but, Joanne, please don't write a really bad 5th book because you're rich. Write like your life depended on it!! Thank you

I'm so excited for the fifth book to come out, and she has already started writing number 6...can you imagine?!?!

she's such a good writer, I like it because of what "Prolific reader" said, because it's not just barney with a wand, it has fear, and suspension, and DEATH!

who do you think is going to die in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?
I think it's going to be Lily Potter (again?) because of something she said in one of her interviews, "the death in book five will be very hard to write, or rather, rewrite."

that is my reason, Lily Potter will die again.

thanks.

Well, I guess I am biased, sharing a name and all. I have not yet read the latest book. Why????
Because I am third in line in my family.
We were the first on our city waiting list.
What does that tell you about this author's talent to engage young (and...er...not so young) readers?
Kids are striving to reach reading levels that are well above school standards in order to keep up with this wonderful ongoing adventure. My first grader is reading AND understanding the books. My only comparison is Lion, Witch and Wardrobe and the weird Wizard of Oz books.
Go! Go!! Go!!!, J.K. ---yours, J.S.

Joanne Rowling is absaloutely incomparable. Her imagination flows ever so fluently, logically and of course, magically! She has the strength to convey such an unimaginative plot, through such amazing books and has woven her "realistic" set of characters, all whom make the book come alive, so richly into the plot.
I was personally very shocked to understand that Sirius dies in the 5th book, Harry Potter and The Order of the Pheonix. It was completely unexpectable but knowing how suprising she can be, there is obviously some "magical twist" that will appear in her future books as to why Sirius died. But i hope she'll hurry up and finish the 6th book!!! My life doesn't feel complete without Harry Potter Books!

Her books are really amazing! I used to love reading all kinds of book before and thought that some of them were very exciting and suspensefull untill I read my first Harry Potter book. It was completely different from anything that I ever laid my hands on. All the books that I've ever read throughout my lifetime seemed like nothing compared to her books. Now all the other books I read are boring! I can't wait until the 6th book to find out what Harry, Ron and Hermione got on their OWLs and to find out what's going to happen to Fred and George Weasley's joke shop! I want to find out how the Dursleys are going tp treat him now that they have been threatened by wizards! I can't wait to find out if Harry's going to murder Voldemort, uh sorry, I meant He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and I can't wait to find out wether or not He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named will still be alive by the time the 7th book comes out.

P.S.: I know that it's almost impossible but if J.K.Rowling is reading this, can you PLEASE not only make the Harry Potter books only 7 books long? I mean, I'm more than certain that hundreds, I mean millions, of people aroung the globe would love to know how Harry's life became like after he left Hogwarts and got a job! That would be really cool! So if you're reading this, could you PLEASE consider my suggestion? Thanks a million!

OotP is really good, honestly. But I can't believe she just killed him like that.

Joanne Rowling has such a vivid imagination that has got kids all over the world reading. Harry Potter is so mind blowing. The way you just drift away into the magical world of Harry and his friends.i can't wait for books 6 & 7
I am a great fan of them.

Joanne is a rich snobby cow

>>By Danielle Sudworth   (Tuesday, 8 Jul 2003 14:49)

I am VERY annoyed! Everyone is talking about the 5th book and I haven't gotten it yet! I wish my friend Abbey would hurry up and finish it so I can read it! Harry Potter isn't quite my favorite book in the world but it's more than halfway decent, so there's an excuse to read it. The good thing about it is, that it's not like a 200 page book for 10 year olds, it's actually a decent length. (And they've been getting longer.) Lengthy books are good. Unless they're dry and boring, and there's hardly any dialogue, and it's just boring. It has to be exciting. And Harry Potter's actually mature. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's immature, childish books.

I like her works on Harry Porter
Never watch a kid kind of movies, but this one is an exception, I am bewitched !!!!
Congratulation JK Rowlings, judging the fact that you come from a humble background.
Many are jealous of you, but for sure I envy you.
May God be always be with you.

Will Sirius Black die in the 5th book????

>>By Bebba   (Sunday, 27 Jul 2003 19:24)

sirius black did die apparently. so now i will not read the book or any of the next ones . apart from dumbledore sirius was one of te decent characters. ok she has made a fortune so can she retire now i would like that very much. even the person i know who loves the books says the 5th book is rubbish and says i should not bother reading it . i think i might be related to Voldemont (oh sorry - he who cannot be named) because i HATE hatty potter(see no capitals) and wish jk would stop writing the stupid books

>>By candy   (Monday, 28 Jul 2003 13:48)

Harry Potter books are still good, even if Sirius dies. *cries* I liked the Order of the Pheonix the best out of all 5 books. It's a lot more interesting than the others. It seems to me like every book is more interesting & suspenseful than the last one!

>>By crzymonkey013   (Thursday, 31 Jul 2003 21:35)

I refused to read any of the Harry Potter books out of mere principal, until now....and I can't put them down!!!! Here is one pop culture trend worthy of the hype that surrounds it...Even my two year old daughter who has a rather limited attention span/ comprehension is entranced by the stories, despite the lack of illustrations....Also, J.K. Rowlings personal "rags to riches" story is very inspiring and commendable...
