Discussion: Jhonen Vasquez

This must be the createst comic book artist to emerge from the 90's. I think that it's just pure genius; dark and witty but at the same time gruesomely violent. It's gory enough to satisfy even MY tastes!

And not only that, but Jhonen Vasquez can make me crack up like few things can. It's priceless, questionably-fun humor. It's addictive too...

And of course, Invader Zim is one of the greatest Shows on television, but then Nickelodeon proved how stupid it was by cancelling it. TV has not been the same since then.

Jhonen's work is continually inspiring my own comic book attempts; though I couldn't possibly be anywhere near as funny or imaginative.

What else could I possibly say? Oh yeah... I'm always wearing the Johnny shirts or an assortment of INvader Zim shirts... they're great merchandise.

I met him at this convention right,hes cool,him me and my friends talked for and hour and stuff. hes a real cool guy.his comics are fucking awsome! hes really a smart guy. I draw too and sometimes i look to his comics for tips and shit

Jhonen is the all time greatest! I appreciate everything about him! How odd that there really are other lifeforms from the planet that my older sister and I must have descended from! Please note: he's funnier and smarter than he is gorey, so pease acknowledge this! He inspires me and I would do almost anything to meet him! Jhonen: Thank you for existing! hes an awsome artist. ive become obsessed with johnny. ive pratically got a shrine going in my closet for his work. its gory, violent and hilarious. a lot of my friends that dont understand the humor think im crazy, but who needs them. its not my fault they dont find a little blood funny. heh

What is this "gore" of which you people speak? A new term for "the way the world ACTUALLY is"?? That's what I THOUGHT. I admit, I frequently copy pictures of Johnny and feed them -- er ... give them to my friends. Yes, I have been called sadistic and twisted, but I can usually pick up on a person if they are going to enjoy it or not. So I don't let the others in on it, just the ones that must read the amazing works of Vasquez. Because he is amazing. Last year, when I discovered (randomly via the internet) JTHM, I became sort of obsessed. I have... gotten over that a bit, but it's still deeply imbedded into my brain. In fact, I think that Jhonen had this evil plot that it would be imbedded into the reader's brain and that when they started reading his works, they would not be able or willing to stop. I think it's evil and sick, and I like it.

My mother also has asked me on different occasions if she would like Johnny The Homicidal Maniac. *shakes head* I hope she never does read it. I don't know what she might do to me if she found out what sort of thing I was interested in. Probably assume that I am derranged or something ... of course ... well ... she may be right. Anyway, I look forward to reading more I Feel Sick along with everything else this man has written.
